Reviews
(51-75 of 245)One of the best MAP in business (with a few drawbacks)
- Custom Data Objects: Eloqua CDOs are one of the key factors that distinguishes it from other MAPs. The ability to store and process data in custom tables, provides a ton of flexibility to the users.
- Reporting and Insights: Eloqua reporting and analytics engine is pretty strong and powerful, which crunches data and provide all types of custom reports quickly and with relative ease.
- Ability to handle large databases: One of the main reasons why Eloqua is looked upon as "Enterprise" grade marketing automation solution is because of its ability to handle and process large databases i.e. 5M+ records.
- DB Management: Eloqua should look into providing more flexibility and user friendliness around DB management tasks i.e. field and assets deletion etc. currently any such tasks requires tremendous time and resources to be performed due to complications related to "dependencies".
- User Friendliness around "Testing": Eloqua should provide some native functionalities for testing different assets i.e. Emails and Landing Pages on various platforms (different browsers, email clients etc.).
- Assets 'back-up' functionality during maintenance hours: There are many business that build their web landing pages entirely on Eloqua. When Eloqua goes down and is not available during maintenance hours, these businesses suffers tremendous loss of opportunity due to unavailability of their assets. Eloqua folks should think and plan around provisioning a 'back-up' mechanism to support such activities without making their customers suffer.
Eloqua Review
- Easy to use

- No real automation needed
- No Cons - Happy
Marketing and communications to customers, potential customers and suppliers.
New Eloqua User Review
- Working with a centralized database allows control over who can access what contacts.
- By adding tracking code to your web site, you can easily send targeted messages to specific web site visitors.
- The system is not intuitive, however, that's to be expected when working with a enterprise level tool vs. a consumer product.
- Help documentation/videos were not really helpful, but recently these are being updated to address some of the confusion experienced by new users.

Responsys can be whatever you make of them.
- They provide the support crew for any hours of the day.
- Reliable QA and responsive issue resolution.
- New and innovative approaches to solving problems.
- Some of their tools for proofing are outdated.
- Reporting is almost unlimited, but could use more detailed training and help within the platform.
- We've seen more downtime than I would expect from such a large company.
Great Enterprise Marketing Tool
- Email Marketing - The deliverability is great, the campaign builder helps create stunning emails, and the reporting is very strong.
- Push Notifications - The solution integrates easily with our app to send users important push communications.
- Lifecycle Campaigns - The program builder is very easy to use and has powerful tools to create outstanding customer journeys.
- User Interface - The UI is a bit outdated and clunky, but gets the job done with some getting used to.
- Training - There isn't much out there for training, unless you are willing to pay Oracle or a 3rd party.
- Support - There is no dedicated support and you have to use their portal. It sometimes take awhile to get things looked at or fixed, but they eventually get to it.

- Access to data: Eloqua Insight breaks if you are trying to report on data, especially CDO data, with too many records. It is also very finicky when trying to leverage Insights with web visitor metrics, and frequently produces errors seemingly erratically as reprompting the same report with the same criteria will be successful. The latest Insight engine release is much better, but it came at the cost of some beloved features of the old/original Insight reporting.
- Programs: This tool is easy to understand and execute. The interface is easy to understand with the use of nodes and attaching the technical piece such as campaigns and filters to them. It allows us to automate so many of our emails to be ad-hoc and triggered.
- Interactive dashboard: This tool allows us to pull many detailed reports, as well as automating those reports. There are also features that allow us to analyze emails that contain dynamic content and how each of those pieces performed. This tool also allows us to go back and understand performance from campaign to campaign.
- Campaign builder: This tool is so well organized. It has every detail about the campaign included on the workbook. Newly, it will even tell you what programs the campaign is attached to, so that you know exactly where it lives. With us having so many campaigns and programs, this is super useful for keeping track of it all.
- Dynamic content: This tool is used a lot by my team, but it could be easier. We use the classic version opposed to the widget that was introduced, because it gave us less functionality by being more restrictive on the areas that you can select for dynamic content. The experience could be cleaner and more intuitive when selecting sections of the email to be dynamic content regions.
- Error notifications: There have been times where a program validates, but one of the campaigns that is included isn't valid. The program continues to run, and it reports that it is sending said campaign, but it isn't. Programs should realize this and give an error of some sort so that we know it isn't sending. This could be prevented in QA, but sometimes edits are made to campaigns after the program goes live, and this is when the errors would occur.
- Archiving folders and campaigns. It would be helpful if you could hold them somewhere that isn't in the same place as all of the other folders that we're using, just to make it a cleaner place for storage.
Eloqua makes automation seamless
- The reporting gives deep insight into every aspect of email.
- The dynamic content makes using the same email template for different segments seamless.
- The contact washing machine integration within Eloqua makes cleaning your database and segmenting easier than any other platform.
- Eloqua could improve by creating an easier to use platform for new users.
- The process of duplicating emails could be easier.
- When you upload photos directly into an email, it’s difficult to file it within a certain folder
Honest review from a new user
- Very detailed reporting and analytics functionality.
- Flexibility within the emails to create highly customizable content.
- Easier to navigate user interface. Overall, the system appears outdated from a user-perspective (the system is not intuitive).
- Provide reporting on a platform other than Flash. Flash is a commonly-blocked platform, and I have to "allow" flash to run every single time I try to get any email analytics.
- Provide more drag-and-drop functionality for non-coders.
Migrating to Eloqua from Marketo was the right choice
- Campaign design.
- Segmentation.
- Integration with Microsoft Dynamics.
- Landing Page design.
- A more modern landing page design.
- Usability of forms within WordPress.
Eloqua Review
- Database segmentation is streamlined and easy to understand.
- Lead scoring and setup is helpful across multiple teams (marketing and sales) and able to segment into different business units/target audiences.
- Automation for our sales team provides real-time followup.
- The look and feel could be improved. I've used HubSpot in the past and it was more user-friendly with colors, inviting messaging, etc.
- More in-app instructions would be helpful. If I am a new user, I would appreciate tutorials or instructions in-app.
- More timely help. Without designated support, if issues are pressing I would appreciate quicker followup.
The truth about Oracle Eloqua
- Enterprise grade solution built for big companies who need a robust Marketing Automation Solution
- Excellent customer service that is able to solve complex issues with the clients and work with them to customize tools
- Global support community of users and experts who beginners can approach for questions and bring up to speed on
- Available tools and resources to self-direct and self-educate before going for a P2P consultation
- You need to be Eloqua certified in order to use their tools it's that complex
- Minimal customization for SMB if they have tailored needs. Big clients get all the attention
- Eloqua is built for enterprises, not so much for SMBs; I wish their tools could fit a broader spectrum of audiences and not just to the big guys
- Segmentation
- Detailed and customizable reporting
- Asset management
- Forms and landing pages
- System downtime
- Ease of use
- UX
- Emailing to customers and prospects.
- Drips for customer retention and prospect nurturing.
- Forms for assets on website and landing pages.
There is always more to discover in Eloqua
- Easy and fast creation of campaigns. The drag and drop editor is very user-friendly.
- Website visit tracking is a great tool to spot the contacts that are really interested in our products.
- Personalization is easy and straightforward if the data quality is sufficient.
- Reporting on a few key metrics of campaigns could have been more intuitive and straightforward, however, I assume it also might be lack of my knowledge.
Great product!
- Marketing automation
- Easy to use/understandable interface.
- Integrations.
- Programs.
- Reporting tool could be improved.
Oracle - fulfill your needs.
- It gives control over marketing communication with our customers and prospects across different countries.
- It helps to have one rule across all business units in regards to GDRP, data storage.
- It helps to maintain consistency in design.
- Improved analytics at the business unit level and at the corporation level.
- Tracking. This is what I like the most and see the most useful. If you are using all the opportunities this platform gives you, then you will always have good data to make good decisions. Tracking helps to solve problems, for example - if there is a misunderstanding with our customer, first we check what we have done through emails, our website - what he clicked, and the most important -> what he didn't click. It helps us to answer questions from our side without involving the customer.
- With anything, there are always some small negatives, but mostly they are covered with Eloqua. :)
Huge efficiency wins
- Dynamic content - makes it easy to target specific segments with different content
- Reporting dashboards - makes it easy to quickly pull high-level stats on email campaigns
- Campaign canvas setup - makes it easy to deploy campaigns across different countries quickly
- Customer service is lacking
- Reporting on email preference changes tied to an email address (i.e. not just global unsubscribes, but how many people actually unchecked an email preference off the back of a specific email)
- Email subscription preference center is incredibly buggy, wonky to setup and create new email groups, etc...
Not well-suited for marketing teams trying to email their subscriber base above ~500k subscribers as their click-through tracking/data starts to go awry after emailing larger segment sizes.
Eloqua is the gold standard hub of B2B marketing!
- The Campaign Canvas is perfect for working with marketing stakeholders to plan and visualize the full scope and steps of a cohesive campaign.
- The Program Canvas and other data tools allow automation of mundane but important tasks, giving significant power to Eloqua admins.
- While the reporting module is comprehensive and flexible, it's also daunting to mainstream users who aren't comfortable working within the confines of a data warehouse environment.
Meh
- Eloqua's canvas interface makes it easy in theory to stand up new campaigns quickly for no technical users.
- The email as a primary key issue if a massive headache
- There are extremely narrow limitations on how complex criteria from custom data can be
- Eloqua's near inability to handle try concept of a customer having multiple email addresses makes it nearly unusable in some areas.
First time user, long time enjoyer.
- Email delivery using dynamic content.
- Tracking of campaigns.
- Web traffic activity tracking.
- Campaign ID tracking.
- Reporting from central source regardless of desired content.
- More easily tying user activity together.
Enables great marketing
- Scores lead
- Tracks all activities
- Great interfaces with others
- The ability to personalize emails
Great product. Easy to use. You don't track my links by default and it's a major issue for me.
- Great ease of use. The campaign canvas is essentially programming with pictures. I love it.
- A solid, growing API that provides a technical back-end for those of us so inclined.
- Ease of segmentation. I'll often put together a segment to answer questions instead of running a report.
- Track my links! Are you people crazy? You refrain from tracking email activity by default, presumably to save space on YOUR end. Meanwhile I have to bake not forgetting to check a track link box into my QA process. If I forget that box, our proof of ROI is GONE, and I'm out of a job. This is a major pain point, in case I'm not being clear. And it's been a pain point my entire automated marketing career.
- I'm going to list the lack of automatically tracking my email engagement twice here, because I cannot fathom where that decision came from in the first place. "Hey, you looking to run an email campaign?" "Sure!" "Great, well we're not going to track shit unless you go into a specific tab under a specific tool window and tell us which links individually to track."
- I am not joking around here I almost lost my job once because of this lack of a feature.
I wouldn't bother using it as a business intelligence tool. You can answer great questions with Oracle BI, but without a major custom build it's never going to be the kind of database that can be an all-in-one marketing orchestration tool. That being said, though, it's clearly not built for that anyway.
Great email marketing product!
- The campaign canvas is easy to use and intuitive.
- No audit history to help troubleshoot when leads don’t make it into our CRM and trying to figure out which programs/steps the leads were “stuck” in.
Eloqua for B2B
- Ability to execute complex workflows.
- Strong IT admin controls.
- Complex UI. Needs to be simpler for non-power users.
