Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

Because it is a full suite of business processes, you can do most types of planning and financial close. It has processes for Financial, cash flow, Workforce, CapEx, project and strategic planning. It does not have anything for production planning

Well suited: For use in multiple offices around the world. I was able to obtain financial reporting data from 5 foreign offices and then consolidate their data with 3 domestic USA offices to prepare a consolidated financial statement.

Less Appropriate: Translating the financial value for consulting services could be a bit challenging because that required human interaction and judgement. It would have been great to be able to set up some software to be able to interpret this and let it run for all future project work revenue projection.

When you want to access past reports to make modifications and changes, Hyperion has it all stored on the Workspace (at least for my company) so I find it efficient to use in that scenario. When you want to access something very specific, Hyperion's ability to modify the data to get your exact results is also well suited for data extraction.

It is particularly well utilized for the Income, Cash flow, and employees components, which can be very helpful for the accounts dimension for planning the nature of financial data. The MTD, QTD, YTD components are great for utilizing the view dimension for analyzing the data. Lastly, pre-eliminated, eliminated and post-eliminated dimensions are great for consolidated dimensions.

Hyperion is great in what it does. It allows user to view different financial data in one single location. The data from Hyperion can be used to create reports easily. It is also useful for making changes to financial plans. However, Hyperion is hard to maintain and configure. It's hard to maintain Hyperion without proper training and configuring Hyperion for users is not easy. Hyperion is also not very mobile. It's not possible to use it anywhere with proper configuration.

Well suited for mid-large scale operations that can afford it. As a small to mid-sized company, we love the software but struggle with the expense. It would be great to see the possibility of a scaled down version for a reduced cost someday. Any business that needs to manage and access their data could benefit.

There are way too many scenarios that EPM could well suited for. It's a suite of applications. You can do dang near anything you need.

Where is doesn't excel because it shouldn't is interfacing with ERP systems. This will always be an issue as the developers of the ERP systems are never in touch with the developers of EPM.

A global company of our scale and operations covering more than 60 countries requires a robust consolidation and reporting tool that can integrate various business verticals and provide timely and accurate financial results to all levels of the management for decision making and control. Hyperion is well suited for our reporting requirements, given its flexibility to handle matrix organization reporting with alternate hierarchies. Though Hyperion can handle capabilities like currency revaluation and translation, we are not using these features in our organization as they are performed in the ERP itself.

I implement and maintain the Oracle Hyperion infrastructure (RDBMS database, ESSBASE database, application servers, etc). I don't manage the internals of the Hyperion application as an end user so I don't know the use cases from that perspective. I do know that our company heavily relies on it for analyzing and consolidating critical financial data, and closing our books.

It is well suited to very large organizations that need to budget for employee compensation costs. It is particularly well suited for highly matrixed organizations with a long chartstring (four or more segments) that need to be used in the budget. It is probably not necessary for organizations that budget only by account and/or cost center and not by the individual employee.

As I said before, the tool is useful for specific purposes, and there are a lot of products bundled into this suite. The company bought the suite and did not utilize a large portion of the features as they were not needed. A specific example we utilize this tool for is the Performance scorecard, we have utilized this in our smaller department to do quick analytical growth modeling to report out to risk management department as evidence for the need to expand into new territories

The Hyperion Financial Management is really good for automatically eliminating the inter-company movements. This could be done for all companies, no matter what's the participation percentage of each one within the group. With Hyperion Planning we've been able to control our budget vs real data even with cost accounting support as user defined dimensions in the system.

Great if you have to consolidate different countries; consolidate information from different systems (ex. Oracle, SAP, regional ERPs); show results according to different standards; or consolidate companies that don’t fully belong to the holding.

Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management is well suited for financial summary reporting. The tool does its job calculating the numbers and handling things like varying attributes. Where the tool does not so well is with super large data sets. Crunching statistics and things of that nature are not necessarily its strong suit

Oracle Hyperion is well suited for running reports and dashboards where you are reporting on large quantity of transaction data. It is also great for running ad-hoc analysis of large data set. It can quickly cut and dice through data for analysis.

Oracle Hyperion is not suited for doing transaction-level investigation or analysis as it does not provide down to transaction-level of detail.

Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management is able to handle most financial management deports like balance sheet, AP reports, AR reports, balance receivables reports, balance payable Reports, trial balance reports, and lot of other business critical reports. It also handles reports that involve complex computing with formulas that can be easily addressed using this tool. Emailing reports to the concerned person has some limitations.

This product is well suited to a company that needs a very robust consolidation tool, has good IT support, and has the budget to hire a full-time administrator. It does consolidation really, really well so if that is the primary need, then this is probably a very good choice. For a company with a fairly simple structure that only needs to roll up GL data into some financial reports, there are quicker, simpler, and effective products available at likely a fraction of the cost.
