- Employee Payroll is divided into weekly and monthly, and we have different employees such as contingent worker and temps. All these are properly and tactfully handled by Position Management.
- We keep our system up to date with latest tax update versions. Our payroll is smooth flawless since the introduction of Payroll for NA.
- Base benefits allow proper maintenance of employee and dependent health benefits as well as vacation and leave accruals.
- There is not much self-correcting ability in BAS Benefits, if Ben Admin can be more robust and informative it can help operation smoothen further.
- COBOLS can be a concern and at times depends on running certain DMS, a clearer instruction can help admins and developers to troubleshoot. At times we need to spend hours in MOS to find the proper documents. If all these docs are combined in an ordered way it could become a one-stop point for troubleshooting.

Ease of customization
PeopleSoft - Just Okay..
- The system allows for a lot of customization. Our talent acquisition platform is almost completely customized to communicate with our financial and compensation teams who aide in the position request and approval process. While the updates certainly take time, we utilize Oracle support to make our systems our own in order to meet business needs.
- The dashboards are user-friendly both for employees and managers. The self-service features are great tools for allowing employees to set up their payroll and tax preferences, distribute pay stubs, and monitor PTO. For orders or invoice pay requests this is all built in to communicate with our procurement and accounts payable teams. This is a great tool to help effectively get requests through and approved in a hierarchy format.
- As a large organization, there is a plethora of information stored and made available to the organization. Having the ability to house so much data and have the system run as quickly as it does is certainly impressive. With such emphasis on less paper trail, this has certainly been a cost-effective means to make information available electronically.
- Although the customization is a strength, this is largely due to some business systems of PeopleSoft being out of date. The HR system for talent management is pretty poorly designed out of the box. There are updates from Oracle that may have the system more comparable to other popular applicant tracking systems, but ours is fairly bare bones. As a result we’ve customized this entirely, and unfortunately deal with a fair amount of internal errors. Luckily from the outside our applicants and candidates do not face issues.
- Our current PeopleSoft version is not mobile compatible and overall they were behind the ball in implementing mobile friendly systems. As a business and society of always on the go, the inability to effectively utilize all services from a tablet or phone is disappointing. Again, there are rumors of mobile compatibility upgrades, but the upgrade is too pricey for us to take on at this time.
- The performance management function was very old fashioned. It was difficult to manage and utilize by both team leaders and employees. Our organization recently removed the performance management function and went with an entirely different system. As a rapidly changing and evolving business strategy the check a box and numerical rating on individual performance was not adaptable to a more personalized goal setting performance review process.
Oracle PeopleSoft is probably best suited for employee self-service functions such as benefits enrollment, payroll tax preferences, and other similar HR related features. The financial features and the applicant tracking system are behind other competing business systems. The UI of the system as a whole is not very modern, and not being mobile friendly is a factor here. At the same time, this system is still very comprehensive and best suited for a 1000+ employee organization both due to cost and services. While there have been hiccups over the years of utilizing PeopleSoft our developers and Oracle support have always been available to assist.
PeopleSoft is great
- The reporting tool is quite intuitive. I report every day on various data segments. The data comes down very organized.
- Oracle interfaces quite well with many of our other systems. We use PeopleFluent and other systems.
- The input for HR data into PeopleSoft is also very organized. We can enter data one-by-one for employees or do mass uploads. It really helps with the workload.
- I have heard from my recruiting and talent acquisition groups that the interface to the ATS took a lot of work to integrate effectively.

- PeopleSoft has invested heavily to improve the User Interface that is both accessible on a device and on a desk-top. PeopleSoft is one of the few HRIS systems that provides an identical user interface irrelevant of the device, thus resulting in less training and change management effort.
- PeopleSoft Talent Management modules are integrated out of the box with PeopleSoft Core HR/Payroll modules and requires no data extraction, updates or migration requirements either as a part of the implementation or on-going. It also requires no additional intervention to enable Single Sign-On, as when the employee is logged onto access their pay or update personal details, they have the ability to look at their talent profile / performance templates and compensation details
- PeopleSoft provides the ability to Personalize, Configure and Customize your application. Today’s PeopleSoft is rich in functionality, that most Talent requirements are met with out of the box functionality requiring configuration
- The Employee Snapshot feature provides managers with a comprehensive view of talent data related to an individual employee through the use of dashboards and tiles within the PeopleSoft Fluid User Interface pages.
- With Employee Snapshot, managers have access to an employee’s talent data from one location instead of accessing several components separately.
- Integration to Oracle's Taleo ATS could be much improved
Easy to use and Highly Scalable HCM Tool
- The tool since it used by employees across organization, there should be minimum cost involved in training about the tool. Oracle Peoplesoft HCM is such a tool which is quite self explanatory in nature and easy to navigate and use, thus reduces any training cost involved.
- This tool provided various options for Time reporting and leaves reporting. The attendance system can be integrated with the swipe system so as to have accurate time reporting. Various Timesheet options available for billing under project, holidays, leaves etc.
- It has a training calendar based on the available slots, one can book for their preferred training. This is seamless in nature and one can book training as per his/her requirement.
- Country specific Localisation or legislation needs to be well supported.
- Sometimes occasionally we would have system hanging issues or some other errors. The errors should be self explanatory instead of reaching out to the system administrator.
PeopleSoft is here to stay, your decision to keep it or evolve
- Solid ERP, with a strong record for mid to large companies. Includes most required HCM and payroll business capabilities with good ratio cost versus functionality.
- Easy access to knowledge and availability of consultants to help evolve, upgrade, and manage. Oracle vision for support including C2C (customer to cloud).
- No more major upgrades after version 9.2, only incremental ones as per customer needs. Long term support policy from Oracle.
- Strong attachment from existing customers. Market analysis indicates significant number of clients choose to stay with PeopleSoft despite a significant list of new offerings in the HCM space.
- Not a user-friendly interface, it needs getting used to. Version 9.2 improved the user experience.
- Talent Management function is sub-optimal especially in the ability to create and revise descriptions, and flexible compensation systems (some functions need to be developed externally and integrated). Acquisition of Taleo by Oracle may indicate no plans to improve this further in PeopleSoft HCM.
- Oracle's roadmap for PeopleSoft needs to be better explained. Present communications created confusion related to future of PeopleSoft.
- Well suited for companies where HR environment is stable, no competition for talent and with capital budget constraints. Also for companies that customized the environment so much, that moving to a new platform requires significant investments.
- Not perfect for companies in fast-moving industries fighting for talent and companies that need very good analytics regarding the workforce.
Customization friendly, current tech and ongoing support!
- Configurable and customizable - PeopleSoft HCM, like all PeopleSoft products is extremely customizable and configurable. With the new Related Content Framework Event Mapping we are able to customize on top of the delivered code to accommodate our users needs
- Staying current in the mobile tech world - PeopleSoft HCM has adapted well over the last few years to the mobile/form-factor changes that have come with an evolving mobile landscape. The new fluid UI is the best example of this and allows us to adapt our customized system to a mobile framework.
- Continuous updates - Oracle is providing 4 quarterly updates to the PeopleSoft HCM system, which are available to adopt selectively.
- Expensive - PeopleSoft license fees are not trivial.
- High maintenance - due to the customizable nature of PeopleSoft it requires a higher level of maintenance than other software.
- Slow to adopt new technologies - While PeopleSoft has BI Publisher, connected queries and fluid approvals now, they have taken time to be rolled out when other providers have had them longer.
A rock solid platform for employee management

A Vision into PeopleSoft
- PeopleSoft allows the user community to categorize data into various sectors.
- It captures minute transactional details.
- It is a one stop shopping center of information and raw data.
- It offers great archiving and recovery of information costing less in physical storage and printing and allowing universal access to necessary data.
- The click throughs are immense and a user can easily get lost when trying to reproduce a path to data.
- The system does not accept fast typing so incorrect data can easily be entered
- End users get intimidated by the multiple features that are available. However, through training and accurate documentation, system acceptance and mastery are being achieved.

Not very well suited for smaller organizations due to the cost involved.
PeopleSoft HCM from a techie's point of view
- We recently upgraded to Fluid - this makes the experience for casual users SO much better! Navigation is easy and intuitive and things are easy to find. Our employees are now much more likely to use self-service than when they had to hunt for the functionality.
- Fluid also introduced some really great features for our middle-level users as well - having a homepage tailored to them and nav collections that group their common pages together in one easy place makes their work faster and easier. No more navigation, just scroll down and click on the page you want and then click on the next page that you want, etc. Very, very quick and easy and so much faster to learn - you don't have to remember WHERE that process/page is located, it is again, right there in front of you.
- I also highly recommend workcenters for functions like running the periodic on-cycle payroll. Our payroll group was jumping all over the place to run the "next" process. This tool is similar to nav collections, but allows for queries, also navigates a bit differently and can have the concept of what to run "next". But the same result - much less training and much faster to run the "next" process that is needed.
- I am a techie - so my quibble with PeopleSoft is technical. They don't make it easy to identify objects related to workcenters, navigation collections, etc. Therefore, it is difficult to migrate changes from one environment to another if you stray from their core objects like pages, components, etc.
- Another place that leaves room for improvement is the talent acquisition module (TAM). It tries to be so fancy and flexible that it makes it difficult to setup and use. The pages are much more difficult to debug and trace also as they layer and are so dynamic that the "usability" is lost somewhere along the way.
- My next "room for improvement" is also from a very technical perspective - we have run into PeopleCode bugs for the first time in years. There are multiple bugs in the new functionality, i.e. the "carry ID" doesn't work in a navigation collection and a couple other bugs we coded around in the guided workflow process. They are addressing the issues quickly, but I was surprised there were still bugs out there that seemed so obvious - and that means you need to keep taking tools patches.
- Finally - the PUM approach vs. doing upgrades to a new version does make it MUCH easier to find and apply patches and enhancements. BUT don't listen to all the sales people that say you never need to do another upgrade. Each "update image" is really like a mini-upgrade and if you want to get new functionality, you will need to plan to "get current" with the update images periodically - which is an upgrade.
PeopleSoft HCM Used by a Nonprofit Organization
- Core HR records are kept consistently.
- The system will request mandatory items that we need to fill in to be compliant in each of the different countries. It recognizes what is required in each country and will have a mandatory field for any item that we must have. It forces us to look into these items when we don't know what they are and review our processes. It helps us to make sure we are compliant as well.
- Record pages are very detailed and allows us to have other custom fields according to our needs.
- The system provides very detailed payroll reports with all the necessary information for our tax filings.
- Flexibility to do allocations and set up the GL lines the way Finance needs them for their journal entries.
- The system does not provide an interface with a third-party tax processor for quarterly 941s, etc.
- Some of the menus are not intuitive and it's hard to figure out some items on your own.
- Security roles can be hard to configure.
The security settings are sometimes hard to configure, but once they are set, it is smooth sailing. I would recommend having a super user who can assist other employees as some functions are not intuitive if they try to teach themselves.
Why go for Oracle HCM?
- Benefits include streamlines payroll processing for small, mid and large size companies/organizations.
- Easier to manage HR data such as employee personal info, education, job info and track effective dated records. Helps maintain records of data - all in one place.
- Easy to integrate with various systems such as timekeeping, business intelligence, data warehousing, archival etc. Robust in these domains.
- Encryption of data is one persistent issue where users have to develop programs to perform the same. Would like to see more options and powerful encryption techniques for data masking.
- Oracle's timekeeping system has long had competition from vendors such as Kronos, workbrain etc. If Oracle's product could cater to all these needs - we wouldn't have to undergo the trouble of integrating a third party system with Oracle PeopleSoft HCM.
- Learning Management System is another area which can be greatly improved by Oracle instead of integrating with third party vendors such as sum total etc.
PeopleSoft Review
- When using PeopleSoft to process new hires, it does "talk" rather seamlessly to our TMS. Whatever is input into the TMS is what feeds over to PeopleSoft, so it does help if it's accurate. If not, it's easy to fix.
- There are different areas that we can go into on PeopleSoft, whether it be having to place employees on leave, or terminating employees, or changing pay. Each area has a distinctive place it goes into PeopleSoft.
- When employees enter into PeopleSoft to change information, it's easy to use, and the changes are seen and processed right away.
- I would like to see an option of adding a quick-access "favorites" item so that I don't need to enter each individual area, then enter what I'm looking for. I tend to use the same part of PeopleSoft often, it'd be nice to just click and go.
User Friendly
- Oracle is not a difficult program to use. The menus make it fairly easy to navigate.
- Through the trial and error and a lack of training you learn how to use the save function. It is not the same depending on the item that you are processing.
- The best thing about oracle versus banner was the time it took to learn it. It is a user friendly program.
- I like the hr component. It so easy to retrieve personal infomraitn or make adjustments as needed.
- More detailed instructions on the use of the save button would be helpful..
PeopleSoft Payroll: The Only Way to Go
- PeopleTools for writing reports is extremely simple to use and so helpful in a crunch!

- PeopleSoft is a powerful product, but out-of-the-box it's not eye candy. There are individuals in my organization that would like it to be more user-friendly, but that is not a real weakness of this application, just that users needs to familiarize themselves with what the application is capable of.
PeopleSoft Adminsistrator and User since 1995
- Payroll: The tax compliance is as good as anything in the industry. They are frequent and current and relatively simple to implement keeping our payroll and tax departments in compliance with changes in the law.
- Benefits: HCM benefits, both in completeness and simplicity of administration, are as good as anything I've seen from competitors, but it's the flexibility and ability to customize the vanilla offerings to match the needs of the organization that make it really shine.
- Flexibility and compatibility with other PeopleSoft products (such as manufacturing and financials). We are a diverse company with many businesses that operate autonomously from corporate control. There is a highly complex level of employment rules, including many union rules, that impact our payroll and benefits. It takes a product like Oracle PeopleSoft HCM to offer the flexibility and simplicity in the configuration to make it all work.
- Of course, paying employees is only part of the puzzle...the financials group need to budget for future expenses and the accounting group must track the payroll and benefits. The compatibility of HCM with financials, for example, greatly simplifies the ability to move the accounting records from HR to Financials with standard, "canned" batch processes or even real-time with the publish/subscribe infrastructure.
- My primary response to this is more of a technical nature than a functional -- mobility. Historically PeopleSoft was way ahead of the curve in adapting to the internet and web-based systems. In the 1990s the product shined on the desktop, but by the late '90s PeopleSoft was already providing web-based applications long before it's competitors. Fast forward 15 years where we have widespread use of mobile platforms (tablets and phones) and I'm not sure PeopleSoft has kept pace with some competitors. It does have mobile options, but they strike me more as a retrofit than a native mobile app. Is that a serious issue? Perhaps that depends on the nature of the business. Large companies like my employer have office staff that sit in front of desktops and laptops so not much of an issue, but there are businesses that might not have that stationary staff or have a younger employee population who are more adept at using mobile devices so this would be a welcomed improvement.
Expert Review of PeopleSoft
- PeopleSoft Product Strategy is very strong. The direction that they are headed and have been headed as been very forward thinking. This shows in their investment 3 years ago in a HTML5 Responsive Design direction for their Fluid User Interface.
- The new PeopleSoft Selective Adoption model brings a lot of the benefits of a SaaS delivery model (1 common code-line, frequent delivery of new functionality, simplified management) but also gives customers the flexibility they desire in being able to choose when new functionality and maintenance is applied and even how much or little new functionality & maintenance you decide you'd like to take in. This is completely different paradigm to the model of 9.1 and before and was a necessary and crucial step for them to really lower the TCO and maintenance costs of the solution.
- PeopleSoft's support team is top notch. Much better than other support teams at Oracle where service/support reviews could be mixed at best.
- Testing of new functionality could be more thorough at times.
Oracle PeopleSoft ERP--Top Notch Review!
- The ERP, when implemented correctly, is stable.
- Maintenance of the ERP is straightforward
- System can be customized to fit the organization's needs.
- Dashboards can be improved.
- Training on their latest way to upgrade the ERP can certainly be more streamlined.
- Better support on older PeopleTools versions that are not the latest. Many organizations can not readily upgrade a PeopleTools version to the latest due to budgetary constraints. Oracle should tend to be more understanding of that fact.
What Oracle Did For Our Organization
- Enabled us to install a first class HR system that can be accessed by our staff from all locations.
- Workforce Management enable us to forecast, deploy, track and manage our labor, cut costs and increase productivity.
- Financials enabled us to streamline our reporting and analysis giving a comprehensive view of our operations.
- Compensation was not robust enough to manage our complex compensation processes.
- PeopleSoft is very user-friendly. The way that information is configured makes it easy to navigate and simple to use.
- The 'Favorites' tab is great! It provides easy-access to tools that are used regularly.
- There are many different products and features available for Oracle PeopleSoft. The program is used across the entire organization, and it's great having everything on a single platform.
- The program can be quite slow if multiple users are trying to access information at the same time.
- Although I was not directly involved in the purchase of the software, I learned that it was costly and time consuming to implement.
- The user-interface should be updated to make the program more visually appealing. Currently, the program looks a little outdated.
Oracle review
- Easy for candidates to add employment history, personal information and upload documents.
- Easy for recruiters and hiring managers to learn and navigate through as they hire candidates.
- It is visibly appealing to the eye and allows for easy access.
- It is user friendly and works in most browsers.
- There are some glitches occasionally where system may freeze.
- Need to be able to use in all operating systems.
- There are times when it may run slower than others.
Beginner Review of Oracle Peoplesoft

- User Experience on a more intermediate level - not easy to navigate without fumbling around.
PeopleSoft makes managing resources easy, not hard
- System is designed and tested for large and small organizations alike
- Strong reporting capability
- Ability for integration with other functional areas like finance
- This feature may be available on other modules, but with the version we use there is not the ability to keep and take notes during the recruiting process. Other versions at previous companies have allowed for this feature.
- This may be a function of how our company utilizes the system, but we enjoy the ability to run and save different customized reports. However, the report library can become very full with customized reports and there does not seem to be an easy way to manage all the reports.
- The interface can be difficult to follow especially for newer users. For instance, if I am trying to look up an employee's salary, should I go to the "Workforce Administration" tab or the "Compensation" tab. The basic information can be found on the employee's summary page but navigating all of the menu options can be confusing.
