Owler is a valuable tool that provides a range of use cases for its users. Sales and marketing teams rely on Owler to keep tabs on named accounts and industry news, leveraging it as a dynamic RSS feed that requires minimal manual work. This allows them to personalize their outreach and stay informed about changes within the companies they are targeting. Owler also serves as a blueprinting tool in the sales department, gathering information about a company before meetings and providing valuable insight into prospects before initiating conversations.

Additionally, Owler is utilized for due diligence processes in potential investments, addressing the information deficit that can occur when researching small companies. It offers extensive information about a company, including revenue, headcount, competitors, and latest news. This makes it an invaluable resource for gaining insights on competitors and leads, and staying ahead of prospects and competition. However, some users have reported incomplete profiles and inaccurate data for certain companies on Owler, particularly when it comes to determining annual revenue for private companies. Nevertheless, overall, users find Owler to be a useful tool for market research, comparative analysis, prospecting, and monitoring companies that need regular attention.

Valuable Source of Information: Users have found Owler to be a valuable source of information, with several reviewers stating that it provides clear and concise data visualizations. Some users appreciate the well-organized information about competitors, which helps in conducting competitive analysis. Owler's customizable dashboard allows users to set alerts and track selected companies conveniently.

Useful Daily Reports: Reviewers have praised Owler's daily reports for providing useful insights on various aspects such as revenue, headcount, and industry-specific RSS feeds. The funding, merger, and acquisition alerts provided by Owler are often more timely than those from other platforms, making them particularly loved by users. These daily notifications help users stay updated with the latest news and changes happening within companies.

Free Access to Valuable Tools: One of the standout features mentioned by reviewers is that all the benefits offered by Owler are available for free. This makes it a valuable tool without any cost for both small and big companies alike. Users appreciate Owler's commitment to sending only one email per day without overwhelming their inbox. Additionally, they find Owler's simplicity, user-friendliness, and availability of many great features highly commendable.

Limited Social Media Viewing: Some users have expressed the desire for Owler to expand its social media viewing capabilities beyond the current platforms like Twitter and LinkedIn, as they feel that these platforms are not sufficient for their needs.

Lack of Detailed Company Profiles: Several users have mentioned that they would like to see more detailed company profiles on Owler, as they find the current depth of information provided to be insufficient.

Inaccurate or Irrelevant Competitor Suggestions: Users have reported that the competitors suggested by Owler are not always relevant or useful for comparison. This has led some users to question the accuracy and effectiveness of this feature in helping them make informed decisions.

Users of Owler have provided several recommendations for the platform. The most common recommendations include creating filters or deciding who should receive the multiple daily emails from Owler, making Owler more user-friendly and easier to navigate, and having a clear understanding of Owler's capabilities before selecting an option. Additionally, users find Owler very useful for gathering information about companies, recommend trying Owler's premium plan for the full view of comparison and data, and using the platform on desktop for a better experience. Finally, users recommend Owler for sales and market intelligence purposes.

I believe Lead411 and Owler go hand in hand, rather than one over the other. I believe Lead411's contact generation is far stronger based on the cost, but Owler allows you to broaden your horizon for prospecting whereas Lead411 is more of a user-driven search rather than an platform-driven search.

Even though Owler is a great tool but when it comes to pay and use it may not be able to deliver more than its competitors in the market. Owler is used a lot to gather company information but along with other tools as its shortcomings are also known to people. Owler needs to add some research on smaller companies as they need a lot of effort on the research part and will help a lot if done already on Owler.

Owler is comparable to both Crunchbase and PitchBook when looking to gather information on companies. Owler, however, is superior in areas of providing top competitors and insight into very small companies. I use S&P Capital IQ in tandem with Owler as it augments Owler well and can be more reliable with its data, but not necessarily as inclusive regarding its breadth of companies. Owler is better used for private company research than S&P Capital IQ.

Over the last few months and products updates, I've noticed that Owler, Crunchbase, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and many other platforms are starting to be more and more competitive with each other. I have yet to find a real major differentiation between them. I guess I trust the data a bit more from LinkedIn because it is crowd-sourced. But I use Owler, Crunchbase, and Sales Navigator in my day-to-day.

We opted to use both ZoomInfo and Owler together instead of DiscoverOrg.

The reason Owler was chosen was: it's easy of use, streamlined information display, accurate and up to date articles.

The free option of Owler works very well also. It gives you access to a huge amount of information in an easily accessible way. It's like Crunchbase on steroids.

The only service somewhat similar to Owler that I have used is Sales Navigator. I like Owler better because it provides more information about prospective partners. The two tools are different but have some similarities, so I typically use them both. I think the notifications and alerts are better coming from Owler.

Owler is free and this is its major strength. Other tools I mentioned have much more capabilities and more accurate and powerful data, but as a small business company, we do not need much data at this point. From Owler, we do not get a lot of data, but we get just enough data to get some insight from it.

Both Insightly and DiscoverOrg are not like direct alternatives to Owler. We use Owler as it provides lots of information for free and we have been using it for a while and I do not know any other products that provide the same information, so I do not know real direct Owler competitors.

Owler is a free service so its primary direct competitors would be Google Alerts (it has much higher precision and a unified daily alert), and the freemium InsideView which supports three alerts.

I view it as a complement to fully featured subscription sales intelligence services (e.g. InsideView, Avention, and Hoover's) as it has a few features not available in the other services (e.g. multi-platform social media and news viewing, polls, and funding data) and provides strong precision in their news alerts which captures a few items missed by the other services.
