Owler is a valuable tool that provides a range of use cases for its users. Sales and marketing teams rely on Owler to keep tabs on named accounts and industry news, leveraging it as a dynamic RSS feed that requires minimal manual work. This allows them to personalize their outreach and stay informed about changes within the companies they are targeting. Owler also serves as a blueprinting tool in the sales department, gathering information about a company before meetings and providing valuable insight into prospects before initiating conversations.

Additionally, Owler is utilized for due diligence processes in potential investments, addressing the information deficit that can occur when researching small companies. It offers extensive information about a company, including revenue, headcount, competitors, and latest news. This makes it an invaluable resource for gaining insights on competitors and leads, and staying ahead of prospects and competition. However, some users have reported incomplete profiles and inaccurate data for certain companies on Owler, particularly when it comes to determining annual revenue for private companies. Nevertheless, overall, users find Owler to be a useful tool for market research, comparative analysis, prospecting, and monitoring companies that need regular attention.

Valuable Source of Information: Users have found Owler to be a valuable source of information, with several reviewers stating that it provides clear and concise data visualizations. Some users appreciate the well-organized information about competitors, which helps in conducting competitive analysis. Owler's customizable dashboard allows users to set alerts and track selected companies conveniently.

Useful Daily Reports: Reviewers have praised Owler's daily reports for providing useful insights on various aspects such as revenue, headcount, and industry-specific RSS feeds. The funding, merger, and acquisition alerts provided by Owler are often more timely than those from other platforms, making them particularly loved by users. These daily notifications help users stay updated with the latest news and changes happening within companies.

Free Access to Valuable Tools: One of the standout features mentioned by reviewers is that all the benefits offered by Owler are available for free. This makes it a valuable tool without any cost for both small and big companies alike. Users appreciate Owler's commitment to sending only one email per day without overwhelming their inbox. Additionally, they find Owler's simplicity, user-friendliness, and availability of many great features highly commendable.

Limited Social Media Viewing: Some users have expressed the desire for Owler to expand its social media viewing capabilities beyond the current platforms like Twitter and LinkedIn, as they feel that these platforms are not sufficient for their needs.

Lack of Detailed Company Profiles: Several users have mentioned that they would like to see more detailed company profiles on Owler, as they find the current depth of information provided to be insufficient.

Inaccurate or Irrelevant Competitor Suggestions: Users have reported that the competitors suggested by Owler are not always relevant or useful for comparison. This has led some users to question the accuracy and effectiveness of this feature in helping them make informed decisions.

Users of Owler have provided several recommendations for the platform. The most common recommendations include creating filters or deciding who should receive the multiple daily emails from Owler, making Owler more user-friendly and easier to navigate, and having a clear understanding of Owler's capabilities before selecting an option. Additionally, users find Owler very useful for gathering information about companies, recommend trying Owler's premium plan for the full view of comparison and data, and using the platform on desktop for a better experience. Finally, users recommend Owler for sales and market intelligence purposes.

Owler is best used as a supplemental asset, as it allows you to get very granular on specific prospects. I believe its limitations lie in the fact that while you can see the competitive companies, it's difficult to get any prospecting information out of them ie., contacts, without going for the highest level plan.

Owler is one of the tools that we use for company research. it gives great competitive analysis and news of company at one place but since it doesn't contain small company research and precise revenue and few other details the reliability on it is in question. If one has to gather a rough idea about a company then Owler will come in handy however a detailed in-depth analysis requires consulting multiple tools.

Owler is best suited for becoming knowledgeable on a company in a short amount of time. If one needs to become acquainted with an unfamiliar company say, for a call or meeting, Owler is great. Owler is also helpful for more rigorous, in-depth analysis of companies and their competitors. I do not use Owler exclusively for my data and information sourcing, however, as I have found the information on Owler to be inaccurate at times.

Owler is great if you are wanting regular updates on specific companies or industries. You get funding/merger/acquisition updates, press release updates, competitor updates, and more. You can also use Owler to get company data for data enrichment. It is a fantastic tool to use to get a crash-course background on a company to arm you in your outreach and sales efforts. It also offers a fair amount of integrations.

Owler is fantastic for any sales person looking to personalise emails and outreach on a weekly basis.

Best suited for any company that regularly posts to social media, their blog, or that creates "noise" in other influential circles that Owler can pick up.

Where it falls short is when companies aren't making noise. Not really Owler's fault, but if you want to find content and changes to a company that doesn't really post to social media or a blog you want have much to work with.

It's a wonderful tool for gathering information before a meeting, tracking a company you follow, and being tipped off as to when might be a good time to reach out. For example, it's great to learn about recent funding events that might make a company a great sales opportunity like funding or opening a new location/ launching a new product.

Owler is useful for anyone in a sales position. If you need to keep updated with your prospective clients, current clients, or competition, this is a great tool. Owler provides users with information that can help make a successful outreach or connection. It's also helpful if you use a CRM.

Owler is a great tool for anyone who wants to be updated about industry news and trends, follow competitors and just find out more information about specific companies and their leaders. And it does not matter if it is a small startup with 1-2 employees or a huge company with thousands of employees.

Owler is great for those who need to know latest industry news and trends, who wants to learn more about the particular companies and/or track the updates on the companies. Owler is not well suited for companies that do not want other companies (including competitors) to track their updates and news.

When I am trying to get in a whitespace account, I love to find context on a company's latest news, technologies and so on from owler. This helps me formulate solid emails, and have context for calls when getting in contact with decision makers within their company.

This is a free service, so it should be compared to free and low cost alerting (e.g. Google Alerts) and PE/VC funding profile (e.g. Crunchbase) services. Owler is well suited for competitive intelligence professionals, named account reps, and marketing professionals tracking company news (web mined company mentions and press releases) and social media (blogs, Video, YouTube). The alerts are high precision and tag for three key events (M&A, Funding, Exec Changes). It is the alerting and social media tools which are the key strength of the service.

The company claims two million profiles, but only has 60,000 with full address information. Content includes competitors, user polls, and funding / M&A data. Owler should be viewed as a free complement to other online company research tools, but it lacks the depth to replace subscription services. Missing content includes long business descriptions; financials and discrete sizing data; family tree linkage, and executive profiles (only the CEO is covered)

While they offer list building functionality, it is quite thin and non-downloadable. As such, I would not recommend Owler for sales and marketing prospecting at this point.

A unique feature is a set of company polls about the direction of the company and CEO performance. Unfortunately, the response rates are often too low to be statistically meaningful.
