Parallels Remote Application Server is well suited for both remote and onsite employees. It might be less appropriate for a company on a very strict/modest budget. Plan on spending at least 1 full day implementing it. It should help greatly with reducing Citrix costs if you are currently using that. It also works great from any mobile device.

Parallels RAS is perfect for our doctors that are going from office to office and hospital to hospital. By installing Parallels on their laptop they are able to read echos and use Dragon dictation software anywhere they go where they have an Internet connection.

Parallels is not appropriate for public networks or areas with low RF signal or Internet bandwidth. It hangs and disconnects.

Any sort of VDI or remote application delivery situations are ideal for Parallels. They provide robust high availability and load balancing capabilities so it scales incredibly well. The best part is it has a fantastic GUI with full API and Powershell integration so you can accomplish anything you require with the software. And the cost is significantly cheaper than its biggest market competitor, Citrix. It's cheaper, easier to maintain and setup and provides the same functionality. It's a product that will be growing for years to come. Their remote printing and scanning capabilities are incredibly robust as well.

Parallels is well suited on deploying server/client applications, we use it to deploy 16 ERP modules and easily control and deploy updates to all RAS users. We publish resources and content on parallels so our users can have access 24/7 in case they need it.
I guess RAS may not be well suited on a completely local user scenario when users only need the work content strictly inside office.

If you want to use Windows Applications on other OS or a HTML5 Browser.
If you want your employees to work from home office.
If you want to create a new Terminal Server Environment.

Don't use Parallels RAS if your clients are NOT Windows AND you attach periphery to it (like scanners).
Scanners won't work with Parallels client on MacOS.

Parallels Remote Application Server is best suited for delivering windows desktop applications to multiple users from a centralized application server, where the end user may not always have access to supported underlying hardware to run the applications themselves.

Parallels Remote Application Server is well suited for smaller shops with a need for the initial foray into application virtualization, especially those that do not need or want to distribute client software to enable access. Competitively, it is well-suited for organizations looking to replace Citrix XenApp, and in some cases XenDesktop or other application presentation software or virtual desktop infrastructure tools.

Parallels RAS is a straightforward solution for all application publishing conditions. Implementation scenarios go from public cloud data centers to private clouds to on-premises. Parallels RAS scaled from a single server to multiple farms with combined publications of RDS, VDI, RemotePC, and others as a single entry to an enterprise workspace. A solution for companies of all sizes.

We have Citrix and Parallels. Citrix works if setup correctly, but it is clunky, complicated, and expensive. Parallels was easy to set up, easy to expand and has a low cost per user. Any company looking for an easy way to provide users with applications and/or desktops, Parallels RAS is it. It is very flexible in how you can use it. We deploy applications and shared desktops. If we wanted, we could use it for VDI as well. I love it.

Parallels Remote Application Server is well suited for a mid-sized office that needs remote access solutions for "working from home" users. Offices that don't have a Domain Controller or an existing server should not use it.

Parallels Remote Application Server is well suited for allowing access to applications that run traditionally on LAN type infrastructures and do not scale to WAN situations. It provides controlled access to sensitive internal applications without exposing the underlying assets and reducing the attack surface. Parallels provides a full suite of remote access and remote desktop applications to companies of all sizes, from SME to large corporate. But critically without reliance on a high cost, high skill internal workforce.

Small and medium business applications are the perfect use case scenario for Parallels Remote Application Server, as it's an easy option for small IT teams or one-person shows. Larger businesses I can see not utilizing the application very much as most would lean toward doing a full-blown terminal server/VDI.

Any applications that are not of modern design are almost guaranteed to not work with Parallels Remote Application Server. Applications that call print or similar functions do not work well or consistently at all.

The cost of RAS alone should be one of the top reasons to at least test the product. I have numerous colleagues who use the "C" products and seem to have nothing but issues. While it might simply be configuration errors, it seems that everyone I talk to who uses a competitive product to RAS seems to have continuing problems. RAS offers a trial period which would allow anyone thinking of switching or using RAS to find how easy and problem free it truly is to use.
