Pardot is a marketing automation platform. Its key features include lead management, lead generation, social selling and email marketing.https://dudodiprj2sv7.cloudfront.net/product-logos/8Q/UY/F103QG0JK5NR.pngPardot: aesthetically and financially satisfying.Pardot was implemented to address sales leads leakage and to replace our in-house built CRM. Additionally, we needed to automate the majority of our marketing tasks (EDMs, webinars, white paper and case study landing pages) and gain the ability to leverage our content multiple times, which is something we hadn't been able to achieve previously.,Simple and intuitive user interface, which enhances user experience. WYSIWYG editor for both landing pages and EDM building are quite easy to use. Form building is very straight forward with the ability to go from simple to complex fields, great for gathering additional details from return visitors. Sales love the indepth reporting they now receive from leads' activities and enables tighter teamwork between marketing and sales.,Loading speeds can be horrendously slow at times. We've lost business (leads and enquiries) as a result of forms and pages taking minutes to load / process. Viewing the activity of a prospect (visitors per website) is quite easy, but reporting on the reverse (website vs prospects) is difficult. Being in Australia, loading speeds can take a very long time. This affects our productivity with the platform. Knowledge Base is a very handy resource but only caters to beginner-intermediate level. Help on using Pardot for experience front end developers is limited. Implementation was third party and didn't consider our specific business requirements. It was a cookie cutter approach and we were left trying to put the pieces together after our implementation period was terminated. It was only much later down the track that we realised our system had been set up correctly, but now it's far too late to fix. The file/content library needs image thumbnails. Without this you're required to add long descriptions to each file in order to find the right one each time. Cumbersome.,8,We experienced faster lead conversion almost straight away after utilising Pardot tracking. It gave us insight we'd never had before. More information about a lead's activities means Sales can have far more targeted conversations. We've begun using Pardot for helpdesk and support communication on top of our marketing and sales. It's a game changer in this respect.,9,6Pardot isn't for everyone, but if you're the right business, it's perfectPardot is being used across all customer facing teams at Social Tables. We have 21 SDRs, 3 Marketing Communications, 15 Account Executives, 10 Account Managers, and 20 Customer Success Managers using the product. We use it for all customer facing communication, lead generation programs, lead generation program management, and lead generation measurement. All teams have access to create email campaigns at will and it's easy enough to use that everyone can it on their own. This makes us a more agile, dynamic company.,Easy to use Direct sync with SFDC Great support team,Multi-touch campaign attribution isn't strong Landing page and email customization isn't strong,10,Full lead generation ROI measurement lets us make better decisions as a company Customized customer experiences help us convert and retain at a higher level,,100,000 to 250,000,B2B,Salesforce.com, Salesforce Service Cloud, Infer, Infer Prospect Management, C3 Metrics, Intercom, Optimizely,30,1,Lead generation activity Email marketing Automated email marketing / nurtuting,We use Pardot to create users in our software. We democratized the use of Pardot so email marketing isn't centralized in one team. Everyone has access to accomplish their goals. We use predictive lead scoring to influence when leads are sent to our CRM and followed up on.,More sales enablement,10,No,Price Product Features Product Usability,If we did it again, I would more heavily weigh certain feature sets like reporting and multi-attribution campaign tracking.,Implemented in-house,No,Change management was minimal,Tracking on the website for lead generation Creating trial users in our product from their form fields Email template creation,10,10,When our email was blacklisted due to an error, Pardot worked with us well into the night and connected us to experts in other companies to help us get off the blacklist in under 72 hours.,Automation flows Connecting 3rd party applications Email nurture programs,Foldering / information management Landing page editing Email template editing,No,9Pardot - It works!Pardot is used in sales and marketing depts. It is used for lead generation and prioritization and to supplement sales-prospect communications. Goal: give sales team more time to sell. Provide a greater level of job satisfaction - moving team beyond "dialing for dollars" type prospecting.,Drip campaigns that trigger off sales funnel actions (not just time frame) LeadDeck - smarter cold calling to companies who show interest. Analytics/engagement history logged against each known prospect. Integration with Salesforce.com to follow conversion from interest through to sale.,Reporting layouts - can't customize columns, sorts etc.... Drawback when users are accustomed to flexibility of salesforce.com. It would be great if they would make all Pardot data available in Salesforce.com so that I can run all reports from one area. Would be nice if a few landing page templates were provided (similar to email templates offered). More advanced salesforce.com integration - ability to write to the account, opportunity or custom objects (not just lead and contact). Advanced programming on the Pardot side. The ability to create formulas and advanced drip/marketing process flows. Salesforce.com sync. Records only sync from Salesforce to Pardot when an email address is added. There is no way to easily set the sync to be based on criteria other than the existence of an email address - such as record type, or a custom flag.,10,Sales effectiveness - more time selling instead of managing communications. Pardot can send emails that look like they came from the reps. Shorten sales cycle - better-qualified leads. The ability to decide when to send a lead to sales based on a score (or grade) means that we can send them engaged prospects rather than cold prospects. Smarter cold calling - know businesses that visited site. A more streamlined marketing process. The integration between salesforce, landing pages, emails, AdWords is a dream when it comes to managing and reporting on campaign effectiveness.,ExactTarget,10,000 to 25,000,B2B,3,2,Drip campaigns. The ability to send emails to prospects based on specific behaviors. The ability to keep our brand in front of prospects in a non-intrusive way is huge. Landing page build and integration. The ability to follow a prospects action from email, to website, to form and eventually through to sales. Progressive forms. Love them! The ability to slowly collect prospect information over time without burdening sales. Start with must-have info, then progress to nice-to-have. The ability to compare visitor behavior (those not in the system) with prospect behavior (those in the system).,10,Professional services company,9Pardot was a game changer for us!We use Pardot across our Sales and Marketing Departments. Although, our senior leadership is also involved in the process. Pardot has given us a crystal ball to look into how our website visitors are engaging with us like we never had before. We are also able to start to qualify our visitors for our sales team.,The email templates are easy to set up and allow us to automate our marketing efforts very effectively. The ability to segment our lists has proven very valuable. List segmentation allows the right message to get to the right vertical markets at the right time. The marketing calendar gives the whole team an outline of what marketing initiatives are hitting on any given day.,The reporting through GoodData is a bit cumbersome. It takes some getting used to to use effectively. The ability to have custom opportunity close / won choices. As a company who uses parent/child opportunities to track large projects where we could be submitting several bids for the same project through different customers we are not able to use any of the opportunity reports within Pardot. As we can't exclude any lost "children" from the formulas. Need the ability to add custom filters for adding prospects to lists. For example being able to say do this AND this, OR this AND this. Right now you only get the option of all ANDs or all ORs.,9,As a global company with office hours in the US, the back-end automation has allowed us to respond to customer inquires 24/7 - 365. We are now able to send out links to a product questionnaire to help better qualify leads for our sales reps. Giving them laser focus on which leads to follow up on instead of chasing rainbows and puppy dogs that might not be "real" leads. Real time alerts for the sales team via the Lead Deck allow an account executive some x-ray vision into what an important client is doing right now on our website.,,10,000 to 25,000,B2B,Salesforce.com, GetFeedback, OneNote,19,2,Automation of website inquires (web to lead forms). Allowing gated content to be accessed by website visitors. Delivering better marketing qualified leads to the sales team.,By combining a link to a GetFeedback.com survey we call "Solution Builder" we are able to gather additional details about a customer's project. Freeing up qualification time for our sales team. By delivering gated content to our website visitors we are able to do progressive profiling on a website visitor. By understanding which of our documents the visitor is requesting we can better service them internally. By allowing an outside vendor like our PR agency to have access to the system without taking up a Salesforce license has been a big time saver for our internal marketing team of one.,Developing out drip campaigns Re-engage our "cold" leads Develop a monthly vertical specific newsletter.,10,No,Price Product Features Existing Relationship with the Vendor,I am not sure that we would do anything different in our evaluation process. We probably should've had more content ready to go, but that falls squarely on our shoulders as to when we made the purchase. The demonstrations and sales team from Pardot did an excellent job presenting to all our stakeholders including our outside PR firm.,Implemented in-house,Yes,Change management was a major issue with the implementation,For someone who likes to move processes forward quickly, it was hard for me to adhere to the pace of the implementation. It seemed a little slow to me. Having outside vendors for our website development, that was a bit of a challenge making sure they were on the same page with what we needed and how the Pardot forms could be utilized. This wasn't a direct Pardot issue.,9,9,No,I was struggling with a way for Pardot to check in Salesforce for account ownership before assigning a lead to an account executive. A customer's for life success team member worked to find a solution for me by figuring out that we need to get an apex trigger written to check for account ownership. I haven't had a chance to get this trigger written, but I know that it can be done with a little outside help.,Adding completion actions to emails is very easy and intuitive. Mapping customs fields between Pardot and Salesforce Building out drip campaigns,At times the email editing can get a bit challenging Learning how to create custom reports through GoodData,Yes, but I don't use it,9Pardot - Awesome for Marketing AutomationWe use pardot for landing pages (and forms) and drip campaigns for lead generation.,Drip campaigns that trigger off sales funnel actions. Integration with salesforce. Great UI/UX.,Reporting layouts aren't customizable. Could have better integration with salesforce, particularly the ability to write to account, opportunity or custom objects, and better syncing with sfdc.,9,Solid lead gen tool. Increases sales team efficiency.,Salesforce.com,Drip Campaigns Landing Pages,10,Yes,10,I had a tricky, time-sensitive situation and called during office hours. The team took my call, asked questions, and came back with a solution while I was still on the phone. The customer support team truly is world class.,Great drip program setup Easy to create landing pages and forms Great email template setup,Reporting,9

Luckily for us Pardot was a perfect fit and is very easy to use. However, the most likely reason we'll renew is because of our initial investment, time and effort spent plus all of our data is now hosted within the Pardot platform, not to mention our business now relies on connectivity with webinars, website tracking and so on.

I would strongly recommend to potential buyers to spend a lot of time understanding your potential vendor, because once you've signed up you'll struggle to move on if it doesn't work out.

As of right now we have not seen any other program that integrates as seamlessly into our Salesforce platform. We have barely scratched the surface of all the features and use cases. It would be irresponsible to make a move to another platform in the near future. We have not come up against any limitations that would prompt a need to switch.

For a SugarCRM user, you don't have many options for marketing automation. Pardot is definitely the way to go for those users. If you're using Salesforce.com, I think there are still unanswered questions as to what happens to Pardot since Salesforce.com acquired ExactTarget/Pardot in June 2013. Product roadmap details are being worked out, so we'll see.

By the time our contract expires in 2 more years, I doubt highly that the competition will have caught up to where Pardot stands today. In two years, Pardot will have increased its value to the business due to the projects it is currently working on. This will allow it to maintain its dominant positioning in B2B.

When we selected Pardot, it did not have as much mindshare in the industry as other platforms, but it is one of the most capable marketing automation platforms I have seen. Though their profile has raised considerably since being acquired by ExactTarget and then Salesforce, they still seem to fly under the radar a bit, but I consider Pardot to be one of the unsung heroes of marketing automation. Pardot has looked for the features that marketers need most, and incorporated them into a very easy-to-use platform that does not require heavy IT support to implement and maintain. Pardot also does a great job listening to customer feedback and using it to inform their product roadmap.

We love Pardot (I personally use it every day) and couldn't imagine not using. Pardot has helped our business grow and stay at the forefront of marketing. Without Pardot we would not capture all our website visitors data, have automated emails in place, and would not have the ability to report on all over many campaigns. We love Pardot so much that we actually prepay for a full year at a time (I think you actually get a slight discount by doing that as well).

We recently did renew our annual contract based on a number of factors (some listed below):
  1. Competitive pricing
  2. We use Salesforce.com extensively - so now that Pardot is a SFDC company this all fits in very nicely with our technology/solution stack
  3. Intuitive interface especially for setting up automation rules
  4. They have ramped up their enhancements & speed of release
  5. Quick support / friendly account execs
  6. Gives us an extended website where we can easily create similar looking pages, forms etc

We will be renewing our use of Pardot. We have found that the system is very useful to marketing and sales and it makes it a lot easier to run marketing campaigns and conduct sales efforts with the information that Pardot gives. Staying with the system can only make the product better; the more information you put into the system, the better reporting and numbers you are going to get out of it in the end.

At this point, we've invested so much time and resources into making our Pardot-Sugar integration work that it would be counter intuitive to not renew. The only thing that would impact this would be if they considerably drop support of Sugar since they are now a Salesforce.com company. With that said, we owe it to ourselves to explore all available alternatives.

Our business is changing and the only reason why we would not renew the product is if we decide to use the product our parent company is currently using. Pardot is a very wonderful tool and if it is up to me, we will continue using it. I have become an expert in it and the tool has really paid off. It allows you to do so many programs to make the most out of your database. It feeds our sales team and allows them to better understand where their prospects are in the buying cycle. It makes sales have a better and more meaningful conversation with their leads.

Replacement cost would be high for us. We have a history of leads, scoring, emails, and actions taking by leads in Pardot. Our sales history shows that a lot of these leads will be reactive in the future, perhaps when project needs bring our product back to mind, or when they have budget, etc. So switching costs would be really high for us. With that said, if we could find a product that integrated better with other parts of our organization, we would look at it.
