Paylocity is our main HRIS. We use it for payroll, onboarding, performance management, time and labor tracking, benefits enrollment and management, Cobra. We have purchased the recruiting module but do not use that as it is not as user friendly as our prior system so we scrapped it and went back to Trakstar for recruiting. Business problems addressed, all employee data can be stored in paylocity, it combined a lot of systems into one spot for us and can be a "one stop shop" for all employee info. Just wish the recruiting platform functioned better.
  • Payroll process.
  • Performance Management.
  • Onboarding new employees.
  • Benefits Management.
  • Recruiting platform - not user friendly.
  • Errors and glitches with the software and the time it takes to resolve problems.
  • Benefits interface - issues w/ launching new hire benefits are ongoing.
Employee onboarding is pretty seemless, new hires are able to login, upload all needed info, fill out documents and merge into our systems as a new hire employee. - some glitches with this are the first pay date is often listed inaccurately. I currently have a new hire starting 12/4, and her "first pay date" is listed as 11/22? why? did this even happen. And then it will not let you amend the first pay date. - very cumbersome to fix any errors. Time and Labor - we recently had a glitch where the used hours were not listed correctly in Self service portal and HR&PR, took over a week to get this glitch fixed. - the timing it takes to address some of the issues is a bit excessive and does not garner confidence in the product. Performance Management - we have had no issues with this system and appreciate that we can modify and create our own template to our desired needs.

We utilize the product for all HR-related document storage, compensation, payroll, timecard reporting, performance management, total compensation statements, employee onboardings, benefits open enrollment, Data Insights, Surveys, marketplace, and EDI Feeds. Soon, we will be adding Market Pay.
  • Payroll Processing.
  • Compensation Management.
  • Offers a great overall package of add on features.
  • Odd glitches here and there that no one can explain the "why".
  • Customer Service is erratic with people being knowledgeable with the system.
  • Sometimes, making custom changes, such as performance management (performance review) is hard.
The overall package is terrific. Customer Service has dropped in the last two years.

I use Paylocity to process three different payrolls for recruitment, benefits, and onboarding. I have begun the process of implementing Expenses.
  • Payroll process is very user friendly.
  • Reporting options work well.
  • Support staff are very helpful.
  • Implementation assistance is subpar. I did not receive a notification or any assistance when implementing Expenses, and have had it for 21 days and have not used it.
  • Assistance with the set up of benefit parameters for open enrollment needs to improve. I received no emails initially, and the spreadsheet was not user-friendly or easy to follow.
I think once the setup is done, it can be used as a full-service HRIS; it's the set up that I have found to be cumbersome without much support.

Paylocity is used for payroll processing, HRIS, recruiting, new hire onboarding, and recent performance reviews.
  • Timesheet reporting.
  • Recruiting
  • HR information hub.
  • Customer service.
  • Direct account manager.
  • Response time when emailed questions are sent.
Mid-sized organizations would do well; larger organizations may get frustrated with the response time for concerns that may be time-sensitive.

I am the only Administrator for Paylocity in my organization, so I manage everything that lives on the platform. The modules we use the most:
  • Payroll - Fast and easy process, it's really made our payroll process simple and efficient. We all also get to track employer contributions to benefits, which I think is critical data to show our employees their total compensation.
  • New hire onboarding - The onboarding events have been great for capturing all the new hire information and compliance-related documents in a timely and efficient way. Being able to process e-verify on the platform as part of the process is very helpful and allows us to always be compliant
  • Performance - Goal setting, journals for ongoing feedback, feedback requests, and performance reviews have allowed us to have an agile and thorough process
  • Learning - L&D has been a priority for us and Paylicty has a great module to track employee's learning efforts
  • Payroll
  • Integrations with 401K provider
  • Ongoing performance tracking with journals
  • Recruiting - the ability to add candidates manually in a fast and easy way and we approach a lot of passive candidates
  • Recruiting - I would like to be able to add candidates to folders to build a pipeline.
  • Recruiting - It would be very helpful if we could add tags to candidates ie. experience in x field, bilingual, etc. to be able to search for candidates in the future based on the tags assigned
  • Onboarding - I would like for the onboarding process to go beyond the hire date i.e. Tasks the new hire was to complete in their first 90 days in order for us to keep track
Overall, Paylocity is a good platform and the implementation process was great.
I would recommend it to anyone wanting to have all of their HR process and employee data in the same platform.
I would not recommend it to those wanting to go deep on the recruiting and onboarding process

We use the Payroll, Benefits (including Open Enrollment) and HR modules. We also use it for Recruiting and On-boarding.
  • On-boarding
  • Storing data
  • Reports
  • Reports tend to be static
  • Need to staff up support
Very well suited for a firm our size. Probably struggle for a bigger firm.

  • Time card approvals
  • Processing payroll
  • Employee tracking
  • Entering new employees
  • Dealing with self-employed ministers
It is well suited for being able to process payroll anytime.

Paylocity is used as an HRIS in our organization. I personally use the ATS and found it to be a sufficient product that is constantly evolving. I also use the HR module and onboarding. As a company we use most of the other modules including Benefits, Payroll, Community, LMS and will soon use Time Keeping. We've also found that the community function is very engaging with our employees. Another highlight is the Data Insights and reporting.
  • Data Insights
  • Easy to use
  • Can be integrated easily with other programs that we use
  • Candidate self scheduling
  • Phone app that allows for recruiting activities
  • ability to make notes on job requisitions
Small to mid-sized business is perfect for this program. I am sure a large company can use this program, but it depends on the complexity of the organization that will be using it. Job costing is somewhat tough to deal with for firms that have a ton of job codes, but it can be worked through given time.

I use Paylocity for onboarding and to process payroll. Paylocity has replaced our onboarding paperwork making our onboarding so much easier. Paylocity has also replaced our PTO form and has made requesting time off an easy process for all the employees. I have been told by the employees that they like punching in and out through Paylocity instead of doing manual timecards.
  • Keeping track of PTO
  • Provides learning through the app or on the website
  • Helps keep employees informed on the Community page
  • Easy clock in and clock out
  • provide a manual to help with learning the software
  • Have the app and the website link when using one or the other
  • Explain when employees select paperless that they will not receive a W2 through the mail
Paylocity has made everything so much easier and quicker from onboarding to payroll. It has helped us eliminate the paperwork involved with the onboarding process. My account manager and customer service have been very helpful when I needed assistance. I do wish they had a manual to refer to instead of having to email, call or chat all the time while still trying to learn the system.

We use Paylocity as our HRIS platform. The system has an easy integration process with other platforms such as in our situation when it came to sharing information on employee benefits. The support team were able to understand what was needed and follow up accordingly.
  • LMS systems
  • HR & Payroll
  • Walkthrough Guides
  • Benefits essentials did not fully capture enrollments of employees causing some reporting errors. It has room for improvement.
  • Helping new start-up companies with compliance issues and taxes.
  • Having a single point of contact versus just a call-in number.
It's well suited for small-business owners who have to run payroll for salaried employees but can become a bit complicated when the employers start hiring hourly workers and there is the integration of timekeeping systems and the many features involved in that process can become overwhelming to new start-up companies.

Since we transitioned to Paylocity starting January 1st, 2023, our HR Department can act smoothly. We have everything in one place, and we can even save money on Recruiting.

The only situation that we would love to improve from them is the Customer Service experience through email, or in general, they take a little longer to help you with your matter. It would be perfect if they implement a system where we can open a ticket and get a response immediately without calling them.

The recruiting, onboarding, and hiring process is incredible, you can play with the system around to move your candidates from status, or from Recruiting to Onboarding if you extend a job offer. This makes you save time and money since your new hire will be able to fill out all the information electronically, and that account will be created for them during the onboarding process. Once they start, they will be in your system.
  • Recruiting, the connection we have between Indeed, and ZipRecruiter with extra charges.
  • Payroll processing is easy and reliable.
  • Employee administration is easy to use as well, as organized.
  • Customer Service - Create an option to submit tickets for help.
  • Reporting, it would be better with a better reporting system.
  • Chat under community will be helpful for employee communication.

We use Paylocity as our main HRIS, payroll processing, and time & attendance platform. The time & attendance system is user-friendly for our manager, has helpful reports for me to verify accuracy, and in just a few clicks, the hours are added to the checks. Most importantly, it can account for multi-state wage & hour laws and transfers between cost centers, positions, & rates. We have hourly employees in 5 states, and many of the work between different stores and positions within those stores. Having the transfers set up for them to easily allocate where they are and what they are doing makes it much easier to process their payroll accurately on my end. The payroll policies are flexible with different OT laws and quirky state rules like NY, Spread of Hours, CA break premiums, and Call In pay in the 3 states we operate in.
  • Payroll Process
  • Time Keeping
  • Everify with Onboarding
  • Always have tax set up issues in Onboarding.
  • Report Writer is great but could be more user-friendly.
  • Setting up taxes in new states - we pay for the service, but there are often mistakes or issues with filing. I get so many notices from states with account issues.
The user experience for my managers and employees is simple, clean, and direct. Allowing them to make changes, find information, and own their Paylocity Supervisor Self Service and Employee Self Service saves me a lot of time. I use this time to make improvements on the back end. For example, we are rolling out the Paylocity scheduler soon to replace Hot Schedules. The integration and ease of use will help the managers track tardiness, and absenteeism, and save their time on manual set ups and reporting. It will all be in one place, easy to use, easy to manage - that is what I like most about Paylocity.

To begin, Paylocity proved its value after all the consequences of the COVID lockdown. Like many businesses, we had to downsize, which led to many finance teams across many industries to do more with less -- a lot less! In our case, I had to take on the end to end process of payroll. You will always have a live Paylocity partner! Our AM at the time was exceptional in providing clear guidance on how to execute payroll, learning on the fly, and took it further by sharing all the best practices to optimize and evolve our process. As a controller, this is invaluable, and that level of service continues today.
  • A live account manager is always reachable and ready to help. Always.
  • Running payroll end to end is pretty easy with some guidance, UX is clear in guiding you through next steps.
  • Ad hoc correction/amendment requests, e.g. lost check research, 941 amendments, etc., with live account manager support and guidance.
  • Embedded AI that helps during configuration across all modules. E.g., we lost all the employees who were involved in the onboarding and implementation of Paylocity, when we had to add a new vacation code, we did not flag it as a 401K eligible earning code. Embedded AI would have flagged this to the editor as a reminder knowing that all vacation earning codes are flagged for 401k eligibility.
  • Garnishment set up and calculation.
  • Seeing Paylocity's growth since 2020, I'd like to seem an expansion of its Time & Labor features that contemplates remote employees or mobile employees (advance geo fencing).
Having gone through a hockey stick headcount growth, then an inverse hockey stick reduction of force, Paylocity has proven itself as a reliable and effective payroll partner whether a company is small and growing, large and expanding, or in crisis-mode.

Our organization uses Paylocity for electronic personnel files, HR reports, payroll processing and tax filing, recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, compensation management, LMS capability, timesheets, surveys, employee self-service, and business intelligence related to HR metrics. It is the main system that our HR, payroll, and training teams use for an end-to-end human capital management solution.
  • Payroll processing and tax filing
  • Posting job openings to our own careers page and also to external websites
  • Managing our annual merit pay process
  • Custom report capability (access to data and the ability to combine different types of employee data into one report is limited)
  • Configurable electronic forms (not enough flexibility and capabilities are provided)
  • Position management functionality is severely lacking
  • Unfixed system defects/bugs
  • Lack of in-depth product knowledge among customer support staff
Paylocity does a great job with payroll processing and tax filing including compliance with federal and state payroll regulations. The payroll suite in the product offers good value. Some of the HCM features outside of payroll are lacking in functionality and advanced capabilities that users of other cloud-based HR information systems have come to expect. For example, position management in Paylocity is not meeting our company's needs. The business intelligence (referred to in the product as "data insights") is not meeting our needs either, so we've had to extract Paylocity data and put it into other BI tools.

I use Paylocity for payroll, onboarding, managing employee personal/employment information, learning, and time & attendance.
  • On-boarding
  • Payroll processing including punching in/out
  • Payroll adding pay types and pay codes
  • Payroll reinstating employees
  • Better response time with Service/assistance with problem solving
  • Initial General Ledger setup requires more time
  • More online help instructions made available
Again, payroll process is well suited. However, when a new pay type or pay code is needed, a detail setup process for the code/type is needed immediately.

We are working to implement all of Paylocity's features in our organization. As of now we have begun with Time & Labor to track employees' hours and allow them to specify the work they are doing to accurately track across different projects/grants. We also have begun using recruitment to ensure we are able to create a seamless transition from recruiting to hiring. Performance management has helped us keep track of all performance reviews to make sure we are getting them completed in a timely fashion.
  • Time & Labor
  • Customer Service
  • Community
  • Workflows
  • Compliance Tracking
  • FMLA
Paylocity has been pretty receptive to our needs, providing us quick responses even when the response is not what we were hoping for. They have provided resources for us to learn how to better utilize the system. There have been some struggles with items that we thought were fully functioning, such as retro-pay. Workflows and processes are lacking.

  • employee profile is easy to navigate
  • accessing paystubs is easy
  • some reports function well
  • In my experience, time off accruals are complicated and cannot be managed by the company, Paylocity has to build and edit
  • In my experience, lots of similar reports conflict with one another, the data is not consistent
  • In my experience, timekeeping is glitchy and certain actions like entering overnight shifts consistently result in missed punches and errors
  • In my experience, customer service is not helpful, they give different answers depending on which rep you get
  • In my experience, our account manager ignores my emails or takes 3-4 weeks to solve a request for me
  • In my experience, they are unwilling to rebuild our setup after many months of telling them it is not working
In my opinion, their customer service has gotten steadily worse over 2.5+ years and my employees seem to have multiple various problems with the system, never the same issue but no one can use it easily and well

I have worked in HR for over 15 years and Paylocity has been the best HR/Payroll system I have ever used. There is no such thing as perfect software but Paylocity beats the competition! They have a wonderful team of Client Support Reps that answer calls in less than 30 seconds every time. The system is robust with a lot of features but also extremely simplified and easy to use. We switched to Paylocity from another system because I needed a more robust platform for recruiting and onboarding. Paylocity has solved so many of my problems.
  • Applicant Tracking
  • Onboarding
  • Time and Attendance
  • Customer Service- dedicated rep
  • Adding multiple managers for time sheets
  • Org Charts
If you are looking for a reliable/ easy to use HR/Payroll system then Paylocity is it!

We utilize a variety of Paylocity's features, including HR & Payroll, timekeeping, ATS/recruiting, onboarding, and training. Paylocity makes updating and tracking employee information a breeze. The reporting feature assists with gathering data for mandated reporting and strategic planning. Paylocity has so many customizable features that we are still discovering new and better ways to utilize Paylocity.
  • Reporting
  • Recruiting
  • Customer service
  • Integration of timesheets and payroll
  • Expense module can be buggy
  • PTO requests can be tricky for managers/employees
Paylocity is well suited for a medium sized company (fewer than 500 employees). Smaller organizations may find that Paylocity has more features than they need, but Paylocity does allow you to pick and choose most features, so you can select the modules you need and not the ones you don't.

We use Paylocity as an HR and payroll management system. This is a one-stop shop for us that assists with all HR tasks from recruiting to onboarding, to time and attendance, payroll, training, benefits, expense management, and performance. We use the software daily. It is easy to use and utilized by all staff. The modules are user-friendly and intuitive.
  • User-friendly interface
  • All encompassing HR management
  • Great mobile app that is easy to use with a lot of functionality
  • Support - it used to be great but has done downhill in the past 12 months
  • They focus more on adding new features and modules than making sure the current and core products work well without bugs
This is great software for those who need a tool to manage "all things" personnel related. It can work great for an HR department of one or many. It is a good resource for our managers and supervisors as well.

We utilize the following sections in our company: HR & Payroll, Employee Voice, Time & Labor, Expense Reports, Learning, Performance, Data Insights, Compensation Time and Attendance Tracking: Paylocity offers solutions for tracking employee hours and managing time-off requests. Employee Self-Service: Paylocity's employee self-service portal allows employees to access their pay information, request time off, and update personal information.
  • Availability for questions
  • Mobile app access
  • The system doesn't speak to each other and it is a lot of manual work to change things like titles
  • There are a lot of system issues with a lot of work arounds but not streamlined solutions
  • Time off benefit balance is very confusing because in HR and payroll it is not real time based on what is already used/requested it is based on paid out
  • Limited automatic candidate matching
  • When they make changes they don't update their own resource library in a timely manner
If you are a small company that is set up exactly how Paylocity as a company is set up in workflows and processes then the system works great. If you aren't there are a lot of workarounds that take time and effort. You almost need a dedicated person to manage the system.

Paylocity is not for big companies as there are too many unpredictable errors with no reasoning that the company can give as to why they happen. They would be missed if you have 1000's of employees.

We use Paylocity for onboarding, daily time entry, expenses, payroll, and employee engagement. What I like about Payloity is the ability to have everything in one place. Being both an employee and in an admin role, I appreciate that the processes and procedures are easy to navigate. Paylocity's ease of use reduces the amount of busy work for HR and Payroll.
  • Reporting
  • Employee updates
  • Payroll processing
  • Timecard correction
  • Initial set up
  • Open enrollment
Paylocity is well suited as the program as it is easy to navigate. If there is an issue there are articles available to help troubleshoot. When reaching out to customer service for assistance most of the time the representative is very helpful. There have been times when I have been directed to read an article and help was not provided. Recently we implemented a new procedure for mileage reimbursement and our account manager at Paylocity was so helpful, providing guidance every step of the way.

Most of the complete HRIS system. It made it seamless to incorporate time and labor, performance, recruiting, and onboarding! We love how easy it is to process payroll, and if there are any issues, customer service reps are great and knowledgeable! We plan to further our use for Expense management as well!
It's a great community piece as well!
  • Time and Labor
  • Recruitment
  • Onbaording
  • Tax and Tax Service Department
  • Getting back to you on service questions or issues in an email
  • More community access to drive employees to engage on the platform
The onboarding ease of use in the workflow setups are great! Makes it easy to onboard new employees and add all your documents in one place! Not a step missed! It is difficult to add outside of your state tax entities and you have be very careful, and stay on top of them. The response time is lacking and no one specific dedicated person to your account.

We have three auto dealerships that were with a previous payroll company since 2012 and were extremely dissatisfied with customer service, training, and pricing. Changing payroll companies when you have three organizations is no small task. Paylocity made this transfer truly an experience in that they were completely hands-on in walking us through the transition.
  • Reports are easy access and can be customized with ease.
  • HR Payroll has everything that is needed plus more.
  • Pricing is not per modular but one price per employee.
  • Live trainers need to slow down - some are way too fast in their training and need to realize coming from a different payroll company, we need to learn a completely different way of processing what we have been doing for many years.
When speaking with an employee of Paylocity, it is a complete pleasure that we can understand what they are saying. This is a US-based company—the wait time when calling is minimal. Emails are answered within the hour. They make it seem as if they are always available for any and all of our needs.
