If I compare the Pega Platform over any programming language then I will 10 out 10 because of fast development and deployment. Pega Platform provides set of OOTB rules which can be used to develop a new application as per the requirement. I would rate 10 out 10.
Pega Platform is enhancing its product and launching new features day by day which help to achieve customers needs. If I talk about the earlier version of Pega Platform (i.e. pega v5 and 6.3) there were many numbers of limitations in Pega Platform and if we need to do some customization then needed to write custom java and jave scripts to achieve the functionally. Now I can say Pega Platform is running with market trends and demand. Pega Platform is giving all the options which support the current technologies like decisioning capabilities, real time processing, mashup, process fabrics etc..

Pega 7 is being used for financial rating in a commercial lending space and the usage is limited to the risk organization.
  • Pega uses web 2.0 concepts and the user interface is nice and easy to use.
  • The business logic using strategy and workflow is very intuitive for maintenance and business control.
  • Pega 7 abstracts technical details very effectively and developers don'y need rigorous technical know-how to start implementation.
  • There is little scope to inject native code to implement an intricate requirement.
  • Complex analytics calculation on datasets that require good data manipulation capabilities are not easy in Pega.
  • Version control and ruleset management in Pega is not very mature with significant scope for improvement.
Pega 7 does not provide good analytics and reporting capability. But it is very good for linear calculations with simple workflows where business users want to maintain control without much technical team support. It is not a complete business process management solution and needs more improvement for enterprise level capabilities.

  • For complex analytics application Pega had limited capabilities and would not deliver desired results.
  • Overall maintenance is easy in Pega but ongoing training and skill development is not easy due to limited training material.
Oracle suite has more capabilities and for a complex implementation it is the best solution. But for simple applications Pega 7 is much easier to use and would deliver same results with minimum effort and investment.

Besides being a workflow and rules engine it also has real time decision abilities based on various business parameters. It is suited for a tactical implementation for a particular department or business process.
