Pega Platform is well suited for :

1) Operational decision management, predictive analytics, and IoT integration.
2) Its “data pages” capability is a highly flexible data structure that acts as a context broker to enrich process instance data with contextually relevant information from outside the iBPMS.
3) Pegasystems acquired OpenSpan, a desktop interaction discovery and robotic process automation tool, to provide a noninvasive, rapid time to solution for midmarket buyers

Banking applications require tracking and compliance where it is suitable to use Pega and these features are the backbone of any Pega application.
Retail applications may not get enough value for money by using Pega as the processes are not complex. But still, Pega is a game changer for some of the retail companies who are operating in different geographies.

Pega is well suited for nearly any application, but from a cost, perspective is limited to high return on investment areas. I would suggest that a company evaluate its automation needs vs frequency to ensure that they will get the expected ROI from the solution. I think that the best place in an organization to start is often in a solution that can benefit from strict business rules and process.

Our customers' businesses are with healthcare and insurance domains which have multiple business ends and all of them needs to connect to business processes in the end. Pega achieved this goal of designing them and now most of the processes are running on Pega Platform. It also replaced the existing manual intensive business processes.

Pega is well suited for developing applications that manage fairly straightforward stages and steps based workflows. Complex workflows can be built but are more difficult to maintain and modernize, particularly when required to deviate from basic out of the box features and writing custom code. This risk is mitigated by experienced Pega architects setting and enforcing design practices.

Pega Platform is the best BPM tool with more modularity, scalability and best case management features. Very much suitable for Banking, health insurance, and Finance projects. The platform is used by analysts, developers and a number of other roles within a single Pega implementation project. The Pega product enhancements launched every year reduces a lot of customization. Pega is not suitable for Reporting type projects because reporting is not enhanced.

It is highly recommended ats workflow/case lifecycle management systems. Customer Service, Claims processing, warranty support systems, etc.. It is highly recommended as an enterprise service bus for offering the services across different applications. Robotics are recommended for robotic processing.

- Workflow based apps where the work is routed to multiple parties for actions or approvals - But not simple user based apps without multiple assignments

- Structured flow and decision rules etc are involved - Not complicated logic

- Departmental apps with 100 of users - but not for external facing apps with a large number of users

As a business analyst/functional consultant, I love to use the Pega Platform because I can capture business requirements straight into the system. I can also construct processes in the system on the basis of process mapping workshops. Therefore, I don't need to use intermediate visualization tools like MS Visio. I think the one domain where Pega Platform is behind its competitors is producing decision-making material (reports & analytics) for high-level executives.

Pega takes care of industry standards and requirements. Most of the heavy lifting is already available in the Pega products and building custom solutions on top of the existing platform are ideal for quick development. Pega supports Robotics and AI which feels good [when] working with the latest technologies, thanks to continuous support of Pega and PDN support.

Pega is very well suited to automate existing business process which requires a moderate amount of automation. A solution built with it can be deployed in quick time and since the learning curve is low, newbies can be easily integrated into the team to work on development. But specialist professionals are hard to come by when more advanced requirements are the need of the hour. The documentation is surprisingly sparse, pdn being the only primary reference.
