PeopleSoft Financials is being used across our entire organization in many facets. It is used to solve numerous problems and facilitate most of our processes in some regard and to some degree. We use PeopleSoft for HR, Financials, CRM, Contracts & Grants, Capitalized Asset Management - you name it - PeopleSoft plays a role in every process and procedure. The biggest problem the system solves is bringing all of our locations together on a single chart of accounts and platform, therefore tearing down silos that exist previously, and standardizing all data entry and sharing of information.
  • Integrating with other systems
  • Providing a consistent user interface
  • Automating workflow
  • Standardizing added and updated modules
  • Updating old modules with newer UI and features
  • Adding more in-application help
You really need a big enterprise to take advantage of PeopleSoft. It is not entirely user-friendly, and it often requires massive amounts of customization to make it work for layers if you will. Business experts can figure it out, but if you are expecting someone to easily learn how to use the timekeeping modules without heavy customization, it's really not for you. You need to know going in, that this is not for a small business at all, and not even a medium-sized enterprise. It's geared to massive organizations that need to integrate business processes over geographic areas and multiple departments.

PeopleSoft Financials is used across the organization for accounts payable general ledger grants [and] asset management. It addresses the core financial requirements of the organization.
  • Reporting
  • Security
  • Basic functionality
  • Ease-of-use
  • Accessibility
PeopleSoft Financials is a solid system for large organizations. It has all of the features that an organization needs to manage its financial activity. It can be complex and challenging to maintain so it would not be a good fit for small
organizations.

We used PeopleSoft Financials at my previous company for our payroll. We had over 30 payroll specialists that used PeopleSoft Financials in our payroll department.
  • PeopleSoft Financials does a great job of delivering detailed payroll information.
  • It is great for companies that require complex payroll accounting
  • It has a very easy interface for pulling payroll information from the system
  • Payroll entry and payroll changes are easily made due to its ease of use for users
  • PeopleSoft Financials could use the room for improvement by simplifying the interface for users to be able to access for payroll reports. It seemed that there were always a lot of steps in order to get to one report.
  • PeopleSoft Financials seemed very complex unless we had an IT guy that would create out queries beforehand.
PeopleSoft Financials is well suited for companies that demand manual entry for payroll or for companies with complex payroll entries. It is not well-suited for companies that do not have complex payroll entries. For a company that has mostly salaried employees, this software is not most suitable.

PeopleSoft Financials and supply chain product is being used as an enterprise-level product within our HR, Finance and Supply Chain departments. It streamlines the entire procure to pay process as well as financial reporting for our organization.
  • Procure to pay process.
  • Journal generation and financial reporting.
  • Seamless integration within the modules like AP to GL.
  • The user interface could be made more intuitive.
  • The procurement module has a lot of room for improvement like all the other eCommerce websites out there like Amazon etc.
The entire ERP product has a great built-in integration across the modules. It's heavily dependent on the batch processes which take the data across the modules.

Our Finance department is in charge of using Oracle PeopleSoft SCM. We are using Oracle PeopleSoft SCM to fully manage our inventory, and to track all the resources that we are purchasing and receiving from our suppliers. Not only do we use it as to make actions needed in the present, but we also use it to plan how many resources we will need to purchase over the next year.
  • Great documentation, training, and certification programs for new users. We had no problem in finding Oracle-certified training courses for our finance department. Even after the training process, many of our team's queries were quickly resolved from the well-documented guides released by Oracle.
  • Oracle PeopleSoft does a great job in helping us identify the possible pitfalls in our business processes and logic. The ability to analyze all your processes in one place provides a birds-eye view of your workflow.
  • Integrates well with Oracle Database. Most of our mission-critical and confidential data that is being used with Oracle PeopleSoft SCM is stored in Oracle Database, so it was crucial for us to need an integration between the two products.
  • Inability to view the results of multiple queries at once in the Query Viewer.
  • Although there is excellent integration with Oracle's other products, there is an unacceptable amount of support for other third party vendors.
  • Personalization Feature for a Quick-Access Menu. Due to the abundance of features in PeopleSoft SCM, it sometimes takes a while to find that one option as there are so many others in the same menu. It would be nice for a user to be able to drag and drop some options they use frequently into a Quick-Access menu.
If your infrastructure is already using other Oracle products, has a large enough budget to afford the costs of running Oracle PeopleSoft SCM, is fine with the strict licensing/compliance requirements of Oracle, and are willing to possibly spend money on training or recruiting people with PeopleSoft experience, your organization should use Oracle PeopleSoft SCM. If all these don't check out for your organization, you may be better off finding another solution for your needs.

We are using PeopleSoft Financials and HCM, and they are being used across the whole organization for managing books and human resources. It addresses business processes in the supply chain, financials and in HCM areas. Helps users in performing end to end business processes required in the accounting world, supply chain world and also in the human resources world.
  • Performing purchasing related business processes
  • Performing payables related business processes
  • Performing ledger related business processes
  • Lease accounting
  • Workflows
  • Analytics
It is very suitable for medium to larger sized organizations who need to carry out their business processes related to both HR and Finance. It is not suitable for small-sized organizations.

We use HCM, AP, GL for all of our financial transactions and reporting needs. It helps us accurately report based on a consolidated trial balance. From manual journal entries, source interfaced data, and general ledger allocation, Peoplesoft aids in a timely close function. Its flexibility and collaboration across modules give us comfort in having accurate financials.
  • Integration across modules
  • Well delivered reporting
  • Drill down capability with query manager
  • Data latency is always a concern across modules.
  • Easier allocation rules and processing within modules.
  • Ease of use for the regular business user.
Peoplesoft Financials is well suited for the smaller company not yet ready for cloud and has the time to do their own upgrades and patching. Nvision reporting is not for the regular user. Job aids are necessary today and not necessarily standard for Peoplesoft implementation. Allocations are not handled within the modules before they reach GL and customers are looking for that flexibility.

We use PeopleSoft Financials for payables, procurement, contracts, general ledger, payments, accounting, and inventory departments. This product has been in use for more than 10 years at Bart. Everyone in the user community is very happy with the product. I support this application on a day to day basis.
  • Vendor payments
  • Purchase orders
  • Requisitions
  • More into analytics
  • Chatbots
I would recommend for any globally measured product and any organization that wants to best manage their financial HR needs.

PeopleSoft eProcurement is used at the department level across the organization for all purchasing needs outside of materials managed through our supply chain. This can include miscellaneous office supplies to order catering on advanced notice. The organization outgrew the ability to efficiently expense or justify monthly P-Cards, and automating the payment through ePro with the thousands of cost centers, restricted fund, and grant accounts eased burden on all end users. Although a delay between a department request and actually ordering will now occur, the overall benefit to stream line the financial management piece significantly outweighs any increase in timing. This review and all other details provided are my opinion alone, and not of my employer utilizing the system.
  • System allows for quick ordering from preferred vendors or past orders. This can expedite the process for frequent users.
  • PeopleSoft communicates with our finance department so allows for quick lookup and linking to the thousands of accounts that can be used fro purchasing. This reduces error in entering incorrect numbers that do not exist.
  • Streamline flow to the direct supervisor or account control to approve the ePro request. Triggers a direct email with link to the request, and the review/approval is less than a few clicks.
  • Once the initial approval is granted the current system is not setup to send any follow-up notification around additional approvals or order completion. This creates somewhat of a surprise effect on when an order will actually be made or delivered.
  • Due to the volume of accounts that can be entered, there are limited restrictions for someone to entered an incorrect cost center or even one they do not own.
  • Is not mobile friendly and must be logged into the organization's network to access the internal PeopleSoft platform.
Large organizations can benefit much more than smaller businesses. This is especially true with a centralized finance/purchasing department for a multi-location, statewide, or nationwide company as it streamlines the process to order and deliver where the request originated from. Requesting purchase on the fly or as needed make ePro and excellent choice both for management or front line staff. Having preferred vendors and vendor codes established in your organization make using eProcurement much easier for record keeping.

It is used across the organization to manage the accounts of the various academic and administrative departments, accounts payable and student financials.
  • Single source of record for financial information
  • Manages payroll
  • Student financials
  • User interface
  • Reporting
  • Data access, searchability and visualization of information
  • Mobile friendliness
While it is a good source of information, the query interface needs to be made more user-friendly, so people can get to the data that is in the system.

PeopleSoft Financials is used at our organization as the primary ERP solution (accompanied by Peoplesoft's HCM and Campus Solutions products). It is used across the whole organization and ensures all areas of the university are integrated and that business processes are standardized across the institution (and automated as much as possible).

We have a few niche products that accompany/interface with PeopleSoft for pieces of business functions such as creating requisitions for purchase orders, creating and approving travel requests, and overseeing admissions applications. However, core business operations and recording to General Ledger remains within PeopleSoft exclusively.
  • Integrations. It is relatively easy to integrate and interface with other systems to maximize your solution.
  • Flexible. PeopleSoft works for smaller and larger organizations and works well module-by-module.
  • Mature. PeopleSoft is a mature product and is well vetted and documented.
  • The system could be more user-friendly and more visually striking. Its interface (although improved greatly with FLUID) appears very outdated, years behind its technical capabilities. It would be more impressive to users if it were more modern and intuitive.
Well suited for established, large organizations with a large user base and the ability to devote significant resources to design and implementation of a vetted, long-term solution for business processing.

Not well suited for very small businesses or businesses whose business processes are changing continuously. Changing PeopleSoft for business process changes/modifications requires significant time and resources due to the design, testing, and implementation tasks involved.

We used it as an organization-wide solution. We mainly used it as a controller solution but used the highly customizable database to run payments, create invites and custom reports.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Profitability Analysis
  • Scheduling and managing employees
  • Payroll and timesheets
  • Some of the reports are not as customizable as we would like
  • Not a super modern display/not intuitive
  • Definitely need training can't jump in unexperienced
PeopleSoft has made reporting on employees a breeze. From scheduling to hours worked to payroll plus file storage - this is the all in one solution.

Oracle PeopleSoft SCM (PS SCM) is being used across our entire organization to manage our procurement and inventory management needs. We use it for purchasing and receiving activities, for ordering products from our end users and for managing our vendors and reconciliation process. We also use PS SCM for inventory purposes for both our perpetual inventories and our periodic par level inventories.
  • Intuitive product for current generations
  • Looks nice and well organized
  • Processes work and adapt well to different modalities
  • Missing functionality for multiple inventories and ship to sites, needs custom work to manage that process
  • Contracting storage is very time consuming to maintain on an item level
  • Time intensive for organizations to maintain fully
I think with a company that has a deep and educated developer pool and had a view of what they want their ERP to flow would really do well with Oracle PeopleSoft. I think smaller organizations could also benefit using an out of the box product like PeopleSoft, however for our mid-size organization we don't have the bandwidth to support it at times and customize it to make it work optimally for us.

PeopleSoft Financials is being used across the whole organization as the system of record for financial transactions. We heavily utilize the General Ledger, Asset Management, Purchasing and Accounts Payable modules to track and record all financial transactions within the organization. We utilize the Accounts Payable module to track and pay our vendors and connect that with the General Ledger to facilitate budget planning and ensure the financial health of the organization.
  • Customizable - PeopleSoft Financials allows for an incredible amount of flexibility and customization which is well suited to many industries including the healthcare and utility sectors.
  • Platform Agnostic - PeopleSoft Financials has adapted to the shifting environment of multi-form-factor devices and the challenges that arise with mobile browsers and desktop power users by implementing a "Fluid" interface that can be used across all devices
  • Feature Rich - PeopleSoft Financials includes settings and configuration for virtually any situation that arises within an organization's financial model, with most transactional settings being more than is required by the industry which ensures tracking to the level the organization requires
  • PeopleSoft Financials does not address the needs of small organizations that do not have a large enough staff to maintain the software or utilize the features it provides as it requires a moderate staff to keep track of all of the transactions and processing
  • PeopleSoft licensing costs are significant, which are relative to the features provided but in many cases those features may not be necessary
  • PeopleSoft licensing structures can be frustrating at times when certain modules would allow you to perform the complex task needed but it would require the entire module to be licensed for just that one feature (e.g. Cash Management for loading bank statements in certain formats)
Large organizations that require a moderate amount of customization to business processes can leverage the PeopleSoft Financials system to suit the needs of the organization. This flexible framework allows for virtually anything to be customized, allowing the business to fit the system to their needs instead of changing business processes to fit the models imposed by an ERP system.

We use PeopleSoft Financials as our ERP system, across the entire company. Modules that we use are Billing, Contracts, Project Costing, ePro, sPro, Purchasing, Payables, Expenses, and GL.

Due to our business needs, we have customized each module to varying degrees in order to accommodate different lines of business or services that the company provides. We are not bound by limitations imposed by PeopleSoft Financials, but have the flexibility to customize as needed to meet the changing needs of our business.

My review is mainly from technical perspective due to my experience supporting PeopleSoft Financials.

  • With a good technical support team, PeopleSoft Financials can do just about anything that a business needs. In my experience, there is no limit to what can be accomplished, but good requirements from business is a must (yes, this applies to any software customization) in order to achieve good outcome and to prevent development from spiraling out of control.
  • Integration with external/3rd party systems can be accomplished somewhat easily. From using the standard integration method of using flat files (easy) for batch processing to web services (challenging) for real time data sync is all possible and all necessary elements are available with any implementation of PeopleSoft.
  • PeopleSoft's development platform, PeopleTools, gives developers access to every aspect of PeopleSoft Financials in order to meet the needs of end users. Tweaks can be made to control the look and feel of any component and page. If needed, how data is presented on online pages can be easily controlled without altering the backend data. Flexibility that is made available in PeopleSoft is tremendous.
  • PeopleSoft is owned by Oracle so any issues or bugs need to be logged through a service request (SR) via My Oracle Support. It is cumbersome to log a SR and support that is provided isn't always helpful, particularly since Oracle will not help with any customization issues. Typically lots of trace files or documentations are required before a support engineer can provide relevant input.
  • Users often got frustrated with pages that weren't as user friendly as it could be. Users want similar experience of easily navigating through Amazon web sites, but many components/pages in PeopleSoft requires user training. Then again, the ERP system is technical in nature so it shouldn't be like buying books on Amazon...
  • I mentioned the many ways to perform data integration, but web service route takes a highly skilled technical developer to do it well. There are so many pieces to the puzzle that it can be quite challenging. Also, using RESTful web service is limited by PS not supporting OAuth authentication protocol.
PeopleSoft Financials is well suited for mid to large size companies that need flexibility in how their ERP system can be molded to meet their business needs. Out of the box can probably meet most business needs, but if a company has specialized products or services, then customization is probably in the picture. End users that are highly motivated and like to work efficiently are a great audience for this product, but if not, then this product might be overwhelming to them.

OMG Peoplesoft Financial is the product made of unicorn farts and pixie poop. It's magical in every way imaginable. It's used company wide to help standardize our transaction process for our exhibitors.
  • The dev team is constantly improving the functionality the PFM features.
  • Its free flowing and transparent
  • Increases productivity business wide
  • Its not easily customizable
  • The implementation can be a pain
When an organization needs better financial information and real-time access PFM is the tool of choice. PFM helps the business gain a deeper understanding of costs, revenue, and profitability in a way few applications provide. It's a step closer to solidifying that squishy world which is financial management.

We use our ePro for our non-merch purchasing, basically anything we don't sell to our customers. We use the IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) model. This has served us fairly well. Support is good but at times it is not as responsive as we'd like. Not having to manage the hardware or OS is nice but also limits how to manage or troubleshoot issues.

As for the system itself, it is very configurable and meets most of our needs. That being said if you are in the process of implementing ePro make sure you know very well, or have a resource that is highly knowledgeable with best practices in designing your workflow. If this is not done correctly, you can end up making a lot of extra work with changes that inherently come with a system over time. We use this as a standalone system with very minimal integration and it works albeit not as efficiently as if it were more integrated with our financials.

Overall I like the system especially the ability to have a vendor portal for real time notification/communication on POs. ( a function we have not utilized as of yet ).
  • Workflow works great as long as you set it up correctly. Don't let a consulting resource lead the definition if you are not 100% sure they are deeply familiar with best practice configuration in PeopleSoft.
  • End user presentation with workbenches makes the system easy to navigate.
  • IaaS is a great option if you want to have the ability to customize the system yet not have to deal with the infrastructure headache.
  • It would be nice to see more flexibility to be able to dispatch Purchase Orders to both print and email in one process run. Currently they have to be done separately.
  • Ability to escalate service requests online rather than having to call would be nice, especially if moving from a low sev to a moderate sev.
Having various types of workflow is great with PeopleSoft ePro. It is very well suited for an IaaS environment as is allows for best of both worlds in terms of system ownership.

Oracle PeopleSoft SCM is widely used in areas of demand management, supply management, planning, service, logistics and manufacturing. It's used across the entire organization for all the areas listed above. It helps in providing an open, integrated, risk reducing and a solution driven system and is one of the key tools in the market today.
  • Oracle Peoplesoft Supply Chain Management is a completely open, integrated and risk mitigating system which is quite foremost in the market today. It deals with the complicated arena of supply chain management which and various modules such as Supply/Demand Planning, Management, Service, Logistics Distribution and Order Management.
  • Oracle's Peoplesoft has the entire architecture stack to support and maintain this huge and complicated system of supply chain management. Tools such as Integration Broker, Web Services, 3 tiered architecture and enhanced security capabilities contribute immensely to maintain and manage a complex system.
  • Supply Chain Management caters to all levels such as suppliers and end users/customers. The system is widely used in all stages and Peoplesoft provides a robust module and security enhanced features to support this system at all levels.
  • While the Oracle Peoplesoft Supply Chain Management solution is complex and quite open, there are areas which definitely can be improved. Mainly with integration to various third party vendors. There are now various tools in the market which make this integration seamless and we cannot but think how to expand Peoplesoft's capabilities to be more open in this area.
  • Database optimization is another big challenge as we continue to grow and accumulate more and more data for this module. The data stored is indefinitely large and Oracle is now leaning more towards data management tools/software/databases such as Big Data and Exadata to mitigate this risk.
  • One major improvement which can be made is to use a traditional job monitoring tool instead of Oracle Peoplesoft's scheduler. There are a wide variety of tools available in the market for customers to choose from and it would nice to see a proprietary tool from Oracle to fill in this gap.
It's best suited and one of the key modules in the industry for supply chain management. It reaches and caters to all levels of a customer base such as a supplier to manufacturers to end users. Its supported by a stable three tiered architecture from Peoplesoft which helps in managing and securing this complicated system over a huge and a varied user community.

The PeopleSoft financials application has been used by my organization for the last 15 years. The modules used are General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Project Costing, Asset Management, Cash Management, and Billing. The application is used throughout the whole organization in 3 different countries. Having 1 system for all of these functional areas allows us to seamlessly enter, approve, and report on all transaction types.
  • Integration between the subsystems and the General Ledger. Allows you to tailor security and access for your users to only the pages that they need access to all while providing a seamless integration and drillback into the subsystem.
  • Best practices used for business processes. Although very flexible, PeopleSoft gives you the ability to assess your current business process and determine if there are more streamlined ways to operate.
  • Transparency. PeopleSoft provides a multitude of inquiry pages for all different purposes. You will always be able to find one that suits the needs of your users.
  • Need to sort menu alphabetically. I have been a PeopleSoft user for over 11 years and still to this day do not understand why they can't sort the menu.
  • Sometimes the amount of features is burdensome. The application has grown so much that certain modules have so many different fields and drop downs, that are only used by certain industries.
  • Oracle tends to push out functionality at times without thoroughly testing the new features.
Oracle is well suited for organizations that want a stable, best in class application. However, there are significant costs associated with licensing and maintenance of the application. Therefore, you must have the funds available to hire a dedicated team to support your users and maintain the application and the required infrastructure.

  • Software installation and on-going maintenance is extremely complex and is need of simplification.
  • The reporting toolset needs better integration into the core product. The BI Publisher tool for creating formatted reports is horribly outdated and no longer integrates well with Microsoft Office. nVision is extremely dated and limited in its usefulness.
Smaller institutions will be overwhelmed by the number of screens and business process complexity. PeopleSoft is better suited to mid-sized and large organizations that have professional full-time IT staffs to help manage the product. Organizations with a high need for process control will benefit due to the number of built in touchpoints and high-level of task division of labor. Any organization looking to implement PeopleSoft or any other ERP must be fully committed to the change management process and all of the upheaval that ensues as the result of such a large scale change to business practices.

  • Report Running : Overall settings provided to have numerous "Run Codes" is a great way to multi-task. I also like that each run can be unique to what information is needed to pull and how it is formatted for review
  • New Window : I use this all the time when gathering information from different sections of the program. It saves me a lot of time when switching screens.
  • Billing : Invoicing is a breeze despite different methods of billing jobs
  • Constant login to a job can become tedious.
  • I would like to see a full format where a job can be looked at for estimate/billing/approvals all under 1 screen (or platform). Prism gets a bit tedious when you need to pick a function first and then change the job. I think it would be easier if you were able to pull a job and then pick a function.
  • As all programs - glitches exist. They are sometimes unexplainable, but PRISM seems to keep a good record at maintaining a forward positive movement on upgrades. I would like to see a speedier process time as well as less crashes.
Controls, controls, controls. PRISM is based off of controls, and as long as these are properly set up, PRISM works with ease. I would learn specific terminology and codes that PRISM uses to make sure that the information that you are reading is received correctly. Step by step directions can be found online and through the system books; although I think a short-hand could be written on these as they are overloaded in information at times that don't pertain to what it is that you are actually trying to accomplish by system.
