We selected PeopleSoft Financials because it addresses every business need of our very large entity with separate offices over a relatively large geographical area. Most alternatives (with the exception of Oracle Cloud ERP and SAP) did not allow us to easily integrate and validate data sharing from our homegrown systems, of which we have a lot, and that was a huge factor as well. The most difficult part of transitioning to any ERP includes the cost of implementation and customization. If there is any downside to ERPs, it's the insane price tag on creating customized modules (and this is especially costly for PeopleSoft, SAP, and Oracle). Depending on the customization, this is usually in the 1+ million dollar range for a large enterprise. PeopleSoft can be customized to accomplish just about every single business need we've ever had, and that was a huge factor in the decision to use it. For smaller entities, there are many ERP solutions that you could use which will save you money and headaches in the long run. PeopleSoft is expensive, and it requires a lot of skill to implement, but when it is stable and customized to your process, there is nothing better out there for large to extra-large enterprises! Bottom line: If you have a big enterprise with a lot of moving parts, PeopleSoft could definitely be the right ERP for you. It's tried and true and has been since it appeared on the market.

We compared PeopleSoft Financials against Oracle and Workday for accounts payable, comparing technical requirements and functional requirements. The other systems were fine, but we optimized our processes and controls to make our use of PeopleSoft Financials more effective. We hired a consultant to help in the comparison to make it more formal and we called a number of references to check out use against industry best practices.

I have used other systems, such as ADP, ECMS, JDE, and SBDEV. I think that PeopleSoft Financials has an advantage over ADP and some of the older payroll systems. PeopleSoft is easy to use for users and allows for you to adjust information to customize for employees. ADP just doesn't give the access to be able to perform complex payroll entries without having to contact customer support, which can be tedious and annoying at times. PeopleSoft gives you that advantage with just a click of a button.

We looked at Workday and Oracle Financials Cloud. We don't feel comfortable with those apps yet. We use lease management which is available in Financials but not in other clouds. Also, inventory management billing and order management features were not mature in the cloud. PeopleSoft has these features. Other cloud solutions are better at reporting.

It is pretty much in line with PeopleSoft Financials because it gives seamless integration between Financials and HCM. Also, when you have both the softwares on same technology, it is very cost effective.

One of the reason for selecting PeopleSoft Financials and HCM are their capability to customize the business process. We have gone so far that we have built the bolt-on solutions.

People Soft Financials is a leader in the industry, really like how all Oracle micro-services integrate well and are easily turned on. Another reason we chose it was that we did not need to do any customization with PeopleSoft Financials or any of the other Oracle cloud products. It was also important that the business had buy-in from the get-go.

PeopleSoft Financials does a good job at pay and compensation data, but doesn't have the capabilities a full HCM like Workday does, which captures multiple data points for employees. Workday does a better job at painting a picture of overall performance tied to compensation that PeopleSoft Financials cannot do as well.

PeopleSoft is much more appropriate for large organizations than the software programs listed here. I'm involved in a project to bring billing and accounts receivable functions out of "shadow systems" like those listed here and into PeopleSoft, and PeopleSoft is more robust, flexible, and standardizable. We've found it to be an excellent solution.

PeopleSoft Financials is extremely robust when it comes to a fully featured Enterprise Resource Planning system, allowing our organization to have cross-functional area interaction and communication be completely seamless. For example, the Requisition to Check process (Req to Check) and the manner in which it works directly with the inventory and asset management modules reduces effort and streamlines business processes. PeopleSoft allows for the complete customization of any portion, which allows for the ERP software to fit the organizations needs instead of forcing the business to change in ways that do not complement the core competency of the organization.

PeopleSoft ERP software gives uses the ability to implement a robust system and still tailor the system to their needs. In terms of other comparable offerings, hosting applications can be implemented in a shorter amount of time. However, businesses have limited ability to customize and access their data for other purposes such as data warehousing. Companies may see higher upfront costs in buying and implementing PeopleSoft versus a hosted application, however, they will most likely experience utility gains in their ability to share and integrate data into their other systems which is typically limited with hosted applications.
