Ping Identity Platform offers a wide range of use cases that have proven valuable to users worldwide. One key use case is its ability to ensure the authenticity of website users by implementing two-step authentication and verifying credentials through a verification code sent to their phone or email. This feature has been praised by customers who appreciate the added layer of security it provides.

Another common use case for Ping Identity Platform is employee single sign-on SSO across organizations for both on-premises and SaaS applications. Users have found this feature particularly useful as it eliminates the need for multiple passwords and simplifies the login process, saving time and increasing productivity. Furthermore, Ping Identity Platform's multi-platform approach, which allows users to approve access from PCs, smartphones, and even Apple Watch devices, has received positive feedback for its versatility and ease of use.

Ping Identity's suite of products, including PingFederate, PingAccess, PingDirectory, and PingDataSync, offer a centralized single sign-on solution for both internal and external customers. This has been instrumental in enabling companies to securely enable single sign-on to thousands of on-premises and SaaS applications, thereby supporting their cloud-first strategic direction. Customers have reported that this consolidation has greatly simplified their authentication processes and reduced administrative overhead.

Additionally, Ping Identity's products serve various specific purposes within the platform. For example, PingFederate acts as an on-premises Identity Provider IDP and provides enterprise SSO and session management for worker-used applications. PingOne for Enterprise serves as a cloud IDP and federation hub, while PingID MFA ensures strong authentication for users on SSO and VPN.

Overall, the selection of Ping Identity Platform has often been driven by the need to facilitate long-term cloud migration and security modernization strategies. The multi-device configuration offered by the platform has also been well-received as it adds an extra layer of security while maintaining ease of use. Users globally have found Ping Identity Platform to be a reliable solution for single sign-on, federation, and directory services, protecting their organizations and streamlining authentication processes.

User-Friendly Interface: Multiple users have praised the user interface of the application for being easy to use. Its intuitive design and layout enable quick completion of tasks, saving time and effort in navigating through the application's features.

Difficult to learn: Several users have found the new user interface for PF 10.1 and PA 6.0 difficult to learn, indicating a steep learning curve for these versions of the software.

Not ready for enterprise use: Some users feel that while the PingCentral tool has great promise for enabling self-service for SaaS application owners, it is still fairly new and not yet ready for enterprise use.

Limited customization options: Users have expressed frustration with the solution's proprietary aspects that are hard to customize and its lack of support for all workflow and hooks, indicating limited flexibility in adapting the software to their specific needs.

We are using Ping Identity products to provide [a] centralized single sign-on solution for both internal and external customers. Ping Identity Product portfolio (PingFederate, PingAcess, PingDirectory, PingDataSync) is helping us with making user life easy and removing requirement to have multiple passwords for multiple services. We are using it in [our] whole organization - so far just for around 10 applications, but numbers are growing pretty fast.
  • Stable solution (don't cause any issues).
  • Adds value as central solution for manage A/A.
  • Improved security for core applications.
  • More functionalities should be available on prem like PingID.
  • New [user interface] for PF 10.1 and PA 6.0 is a bit hard to learn
Really like [this] solution, it fits our requirements 100%. There are unlimited possibilities to extend the product, either by creating additional adapters or selectors. We really like the policy management level in PingFederate. It's extremely helpful when we can specify customer journey per many different requirements like user location, application type etc. As well, both StepUp and TopDown authentication flows were implemented [easily].

  • Decreased overall number of help desk calls for password reset.
  • Reduced time need for authentication; user[s] now have to authenticate once to be able to use more than 20 applications, instead of authenticating 20 times (per app).
We tested PingOne but our security team was not happy with it (because of cloud exposure).
We tested PingId as well but our security team was not happy with it (because of cloud exposure).
We [spent] some time on PingDataGovernance but so far we don't have any use case for this product.
We started exploration for PingDataSync (to synchronize two different LDAP directories), [and] so far it looks promising.
Really good customer support, we always receive what we need. Sometimes instead of [a] solution (which have to be developed) we are receiving [a] work around, which is helping ad hoc. Then after time [needed for support to] develop fix we are receiving full fix or we [are] just waiting for new version of the product where our "bugs" are fixed.
Easy to use; all UI's are user friendly and easy to learn.[The] possibility to use API is [a] big value as well. We really like integration with CyberArk; with it we can manage privileged accounts according to company standards without breaking any rules, and we can be 100% sure that only approved persons will have administrative access.
