Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

Pingdom is being used by the whole organization to monitor uptime. Before Pingdom, we had to find out when a client site was down by going to the site or if a client contacted us about it. This tool allows us to be much more proactive and react as soon as we get a notification that there is downtime.
  • Lots of great functionalities that you can customize to create notifications and the reports you want
  • Easy to understand reports
  • Easy to work with the tool - didn't have to learn anything, it is self-explanatory
  • There is nothing I don't like about Pingdom. It does exactly what I expect and need it to do but nothing more. It has a narrow purpose but it is an extremely useful tool.
Pingdom is a great tool if you are a working for a marketing agency or IT company where you have to manage websites. This allows us to know when your site is offline and you can also track conversions and page speed through the tool.
  • We can react quickly to downtime
  • We know about the downtime before our clients and we can notify them quickly which impresses them
  • It helps us figure out the root cause of the downtime issue.
I have not used other tools like Pingdom and i'm not aware of any competitors.

The tool is easy to use, no support is necessary
  • Monitoring client uptime and downtime
  • Understanding why a client's site is down and fix the issue as quickly as possible
  • Detailed reports of when a site went offline and came up online and how the site is performing
We will continue to work with Pingdom indefinitely. It is an extremely valuable tool.
  • Uptime and downtime reporting
Because it is easy to use and does exactly what we need it to do.

We host many product and custom websites. We utilize Pingdom to confirm that websites we host are available to our customers. We have configured Pingdom to browse website URLs and look for specific text in the response. If Pingdom does not find the specified text in the response it sends an email to the appropriate stakeholders. We also use the monthly report Pingdom emails us to confirm our customer service level agreements are being met.
  • Simple website monitoring setup
  • Simple failed monitor alert setup
  • Meaningful online and emailed reports
  • Full-featured API
  • Responsive billing and technical support
  • Lacks monitoring servers in Asia-Pacific
  • Features rolled-out without proper communication
  • SMS functionality unreliable
Pingdom is terrific for monitoring a website and alerting stakeholders. Pingdom recently added features for real-user monitoring and incident tracking that have made this core functionality less intuitive to setup. Additionally, the monitoring dashboard is terribly slow, puts down checks below up checks in the list and reapplies search criteria causing confusion.
  • Improved website up time
  • Improved website dependency tracking and reporting
  • Reduced operations website issue troubleshooting time
  • Improved service level agreement reporting
Pingdom was less expensive than Site24x7 and was able to monitor for locations outside of the US. Pingdom is in the cloud and does not require server hardware or care and feeding the way Nagios does. Pingdom does what it does very well for a reasonable cost.
Recently added features have made Pingdom less intuitive for our requirements. While Pingdom has a broad offering and remains a good value, it is becoming more than we need. Our customer base is becoming more and more global and Pingdom still lacks Asia-Pacific monitoring, which we will need within a year.
While Pingdom does provide an auto-response and replies within 24 hours I find their replies inadequate. When I have asked why a feature is not working as expected I am frequently redirected to another option rather than helped with my issue. That would be fine except the alternative does not meet my need.
Detailed information access is unintuitive.
Interface is unnecessarily complicated and frequently responds slowly.

Pingdom is used by many departments within our organization for front-line monitoring of core public-facing services. It's often the first notice when something goes down.
  • Real-time monitoring of availability of important services
  • Early notice 24/7 of potential problems
  • Notifications to multiple destinations
  • Fewer restrictions on free demo service
Pingdom is well suited to almost all network services environments.
  • Faster reaction to downed services, especially off-hours
  • Shortens time to get services restored and staff on site
  • Front-end users are effected for shorter durations
I really find Pingdom indispensable for monitoring all front-facing services.

We were able to write and build our own, very powerful monitoring solution that gives us deep application health checks with the use of Pingdom. It is being used across the entire company to make sure that vital public facing applications are up and running.
  • Alerting is very powerful, Email and SMS alerts help drive time to resolution down.
  • Monitoring is completely configurable, offering multiple ways of checking services at various intervals.
  • Extensible through their API's that they have opened up allows you to write your own custom dashboards with ease.
  • Pausing and unpausing alerts allows you to have maintenance windows that do not affect your uptime.
  • Some features like managing user groups are sometimes hard to find and configure properly.
  • Over the last 4 years I have noticed some small anomalies in monitoring data.
Pingdom is great at monitoring websites and other public facing web applications at a decent price. They use multiple nodes across the world to ensure that there is not a network problem on their end effecting your uptime negatively. In the event that they do detect a problem they alert the necessary people and automatically start running their own tests such as DNS Resolution, Trace routes, and content retrieval to help you diagnose what the exact problem is.
  • Decreased time to recovery
  • Increased uptime
  • Increased monitoring coverage
Pingdom is by far the most cost effective solution for monitoring uptime of public facing web apps. Competitors offer services that do considerably less but cost ten times more. It is one of the few services that we have found to let us monitor from points all across the world at the same time as well as monitoring the webpages at the resolution that Pingdom allows.
Seeing that there is no other service out there that offers the same service for the same price it makes renewal a very easy choice for us.
