We us Pixabay to support our content marketing efforts --- blogging, social media posts, downloadable content, and some of our website photography.
  • photo variety
  • free photos
  • copyright free
  • sometimes the photos are TOO general and we need something specific
  • looking TOO stock-photo
  • orientation options
I think pixabay is definitely a competitor when it comes to a stock photo website, and they're on my list of recommended and go-to sites. Are there some that are a bit better? Yes. But I will say there are some that are definitely not as good as pixaby, either. 7/10

Our company was building a learning app for mobiles that required a lot of illustrative graphics, gifs, and videos. We had to make sure it was cleared for usage in a way that was appropriate for our needs when sending the content out worldwide, and Pixabay gave us some great options of stock images to use.

Pixabay is the perfect budget option for people needing stock images, they have a great range of content on their site that can be used for a variety of stuff. Their rules on licensing are clearly laid out in layman's terms rather than being buried in a paragraph which I also massively appreciated!

I use Pixabay to find royalty-free images that I can use in presentations and multimedia. I've also used them to find images relating to various types of marketing. This allows me to find pictures without worrying about copyright or the specific permissions around how an image can be used.
  • Find royalty free images
  • Lots of content
  • Outline usage terms clearly
  • Make it more obvious what is "paid" content.
  • Better library of images for certain topics.
  • No easy way to sort results.
Pixabay is great if you do not have a budget for stock image libraries. If you want to use quality images but not worry about copyright, then Pixabay is a great alternative. Each picture clearly indicates the usage rules (most are "free for commercial use"), so you can safely use your images without worrying about breaking laws. Keep in mind that some photos do require attribution, although some do not. It is best to consult the Pixabay licensing requirements within each image. Do be careful, though, as the pictures on the top are part of a paid subscription. The pictures below that are what is free to use.

Pixabay provides us with high quality photos that we are able to use on our website, editorial content, and social media. Their photographs span a wide range of subjects and categories allowing us to easily find a match for our content and to fit any need. The photographs also easy to understand licensing to determine acceptable usage. It has streamlined our content creation process and allowed us to provide a more rich visual experience for our customers.
  • High quality images
  • Variety of content and subject matters
  • Easy to understand licensing
  • Sometimes hard to differentiate between Pixabay content and sponsored ad content
  • Photograph searching can be difficult if not able to hit on the right keywords
  • No easy way to browse general categories of images
Pixabay is an excellent resource for when you need a high quality photo for a blog or website without having to pay an expensive licensing fee. It is a great resource for people and businesses that do not have the time or budget for generic photo shoots. It would not be ideal for a situation in which you need exclusive imagery as these photos are accessible and use by anyone. It would also not be appropriate if you need photos of a specific product or individual.

In my company, Pixabay is used for a variety of visual needs. Additionally, I utilize it for my own projects. I discovered Pixabay to be highly effective and dependable for all of my material needs. It helps with marketing purposes with the help of crafting my own personalized message on networking sites with the use of HD Images.

Pixabay is what I needed to find high-quality and royalty-free images, videos, audio, and illustrations.
  • High Definition Images
  • User Dashboard/interface is very easy to use
  • High Quality Videos
  • Free of charge images
  • Lack of stock images/videos to use as compared to other ventors
  • Personalization/Category labels would help in finding what we're looking for
  • Search engine could be optimized to do better search
  • Userbase is limited
It is a great platform to use and I would recommend it as it provides you with high-quality images and videos plus it serves as a place to find audio/content for marketing purposes. The community/creators show great support for one another and everyone is capable of uploading their own media for others to use.

Pixabay addresses the need for free stock photography and images that do not need royalties. The best uses within my organization are for sharing photos, graphics, videos, and illustrations. In the companies I have worked for this has been food related. The other great thing about Pixabay is the minimal restrictions within it.
  • Videos
  • Music
  • Vector graphics
  • Sometimes it does not have too many pics.
  • Lack of diverse music
  • Ethical restrictions
On Pixabay there are around a million unique users each day. sometimes the support is not what it could be, sometimes, however, it is great. They also have a great FAQ page and interesting blog posts that are easy to digest. Tools are easy to use. Great accessibility. Good content, with good results.

We use pixabay to save money purchasing stock photos. We use their free arsenal for our marketing material. It gives our brand a professional look to have nice, color coordinated photos. It’s neat how each website has their own set of free pictures that you can scavenge through, and pixabay has a pretty good collection.
  • It has an easy to use interface. The web page is very easily navigated.
  • It is one of the most reputable for free pictures and widely known
  • It is best of all free for a lot of pictures!
  • It could offer more free pictures. I often have to look across multiple sites to get what I want.
  • It could be more variations of pictures rather than one photo shoot.
  • It could offer some kind of artist collective where artists are able to post their pictures.
If you are trying to save money and have more in your hands, then pixabay would be more appropriate. If you were trying to save time, not money. It takes a long time to find the pictures you need. I would recommend Adobe stock if you are looking to find a picture faster.

I use Pixabay primarily when working with blogging. We strive to have at least 1 image in every blog, but that can get extremely taxing on both your time and your wallet. When I can't find what I want, Pixabay has a fairly good hit rate of getting me something close to the content. Basically, Pixabay is a great resource for images!
  • Easy to use.
  • Free
  • Great design
  • Login required for free download
  • Search is questionably good
  • Relies heavily on tags.
Pixabay is great when you need an image quickly but don't have access to a premium subscription service. Or, a less likely alternative, you just can't find what you're looking for on stock, and you're looking for one last shot somewhere before coming up with a new idea. It's less appropriate as a primary source of images if you're going to be doing a lot of publishing.

When writing blog posts I use Pixabay for free photos to avoid copyright issues. A colleague recommended me as she had actually had that happen to her using pictures from Google. Pixabay offers a variety of different photos for most occasions and is super quick and easy to use to find images to boost SEO. With a quick search, you can see hundreds of pictures, I usually find only the first couple of pages are relevant to the search and they don't have any specific scenarios, those are behind a paywall
  • Variety of photos
  • Good quality photos
  • Easy to use for blogging
  • For some searches- it doesn’t have many options to choose from
  • Medical pictures are a bit lacking
  • Most pictures are general and difficult to find relatable pictures for some blog topics
I think the free version of Pixabay works great for blogging to add a picture or two to support an article. In certain instances, for example, when creating a website- you may want to pay for the upgrade so you can access the higher-quality photos. Most of the free ones are pretty generic and basic compared to the paid photos. If you're looking for something specific, you may not find it. Canva and platforms have more options.

I use Pixaby when I want to find free good quality images. We use them to create scientific divulgation videos and help our YouTube channel to get more views. We also use the images to make divulgation posts in our Social Medias.
This product is addressed to the problem that we sometimes have of finding images without Copyright.
  • Provides excellent quality images
  • Provides free images for all purposes
  • The website is good translated for Portuguese
  • It could have more free images.
  • The prices for paid images could be better in Brazilian currency.
  • Users without sign in should be able to leave comments to review the images too.
Pixaby is excellent to provide beautiful free images. It's awesome to use if you want to make a commercial product with low costs. Pixaby is not so good in providing specific free images for some areas, for example, if you want a very specific image for something that involves some machines used in Molecular Biology or Med School.

Pixabay is a great royalty-free stock photo and video solution. Pixabay solves the problem of getting high-quality stock royalty-free images and videos. The best part about Pixabay is that it is free for everyone, thanks to the thousands of contributors sharing their captured images through their talent on the platform. Most photos and videos under the Pixabay license allow commercial use without attribution, so you can use the images and videos for your business for marketing, sales, and printing, etc.
  • Pixabay License: Pixabay has its own license which allows the use of the content for commercial and personal use without any attribution. However, attribution supports the talented creators behind the content.
  • Pricing: Pixabay is completely free for everyone.
  • High-resolution: Photos and videos on Pixabay are of high resolution, especially several videos in 4K, which makes them perfect to use in bigger projects.
  • Currently, the GIF section listed on the main menu of Pixabay does not have any content, so adding GIFs for viewing and downloading to the section is required.
Pixabay is well-suited and appropriate for the below-listed scenarios:
1. Businesses/Individuals looking for high-quality stock photos and videos that are royalty-free, available for commercial use as well (such as using for printing merchandise and selling it), and in high resolution.

Pixabay does have a huge collection of photos, videos, illustrations, etc. there might be some changes when you can not find the exact kind of content you are looking for at that time.

As a designer and marketer that serves several small businesses and nonprofits, I often have a limited budget when it comes to stock assets. Pixabay has been absolutely AMAZING for this.

Honestly, I would say that I find exactly what I need 95% of the time searching for free images on Pixabay. And their images have full commercial licenses, which eliminates all the extra work of determining how many times the image will be reproduced and how that affects the licensing tier.
  • Cost - as images are free and in the public domain
  • Premium recommendations for commercial stock photos
  • VERY easy license terms
  • Would like to see more premium options when there are few free results
  • Search function could be improved; I often have to try multiple keywords to find the perfect image
  • Would like more visible tags to see the geographic location images, as I often use these for locally-focused flyers for events around the country.
This is perfect for any individual or organization that's working on a budget. You'll get stock photos that, while there's a more limited selection than the usual paid sites (Getty, iStock, etc.), are often just as high-quality. For smaller businesses and nonprofits where every dollar counts, I've found myself leaning on Pixabay quite a bit for stock images and, from time to time, will end up buying one of the linked commercial images when Pixabay doesn't have what I need. However, if you have a large budget for stock images, Pixabay will likely not be your best choice, as the paid services offer generous discounts for bulk credit purchases.

Pixabay is the most portal for images, videos, and photos. I use this for several years for my project, internet website, and content creation. I suggest using this portal, to use immediately photos in several formats. Very useful is the video, also in several formats ready to use for your website, blog, and creation. There is also an app, that you can use directly from your smartphone. This is my website where you can see several images that I download from Pixabay. A tip that comes to mind, it would be useful to have images associated with tags and more free images related to digital education. But I realize that it is too tied to my work but it would make the research more targeted and punctual.
  • Quick to find pictures
  • A huge database
  • Professional content
  • Introduce tags
If you create content on social media or websites or you are a blogger, Pixabay is fundamental and cannot be missed.

When I choose an image, I can download it in small, medium, large, or even extra large resolution. This is important because, if I don't know what I am doing, I can lose quality when I manually resize images. It's also important to get an image of the right size. I wouldn't want a small image if I were making a poster, or a big one if all I needed was a small icon.
  • I can copy, change, share, and use the images in any way
  • All of the images are free of copyright
  • If I click on one of the "sponsored images," I will be taken to Shutterstock's website. If I decide to download the image, I will still have to pay the full price. They should think about giving a discount to people who find their website through a Pixabay link.
  • Once I create an account, Pixabay is too much like a social media site. I can send people messages, comment on their pictures, and have whole conversations about just one picture. I can see why they would want to do this—with Instagram and Facebook, there's obviously a market—but I don't think it's necessary. There are already a lot of social media sites out there. There's no need to add to the pile.
Pixabay is a social website. Through my Pixabay account, I can like, comment, and follow. I can also share images on several other social media sites. Twenty different languages can be used to use Pixabay. I can see how many people have looked at and downloaded the image; what kind of camera was used to take it; the focal length; and other information. When I upload an image to Pixabay, I have to wait a few days for it to be approved before it can be seen by everyone.

As a creative in the advertising and marketing world, I often need to create composites and mockups for client presentations, helping them imagine what a final ad, product, or website will look like. Pixabay is an excellent resource for free, high-quality imagery for use in these mockups. Additionally, I often create social media posts and other ads for clients with limited budgets who cannot afford to pay top dollar for videos, images, and sound effects; Pixabay is an incredible resource for those clients.
  • Separate photos, illustrations, and vectors—Many competitors have these images all lumped together with a limited ability to sort through them, while Pixabay has a robust library of all of these, making it easy to find what you're looking for.
  • Free, high-quality images and easy-to-understand licensing rules—Often a new client will have bad image usage habits, freely snagging any image off of google. Pixabay is an excellent resource to give clients a huge range of photos without the fear of getting into copyright trouble.
  • Sound effects—Free, good-quality sound effects are surprisingly difficult to find amongst competitors, but Pixabay has them in their lineup as well.
  • People search—I'd love to be able to search images based on whether the photo contains people or not.
  • Sometimes filtering images by "editor's choice" results in no images being shown.
  • The comments on images are not particularly helpful, usually full of people commenting "thank you" — maybe have users submit suggested image tags instead?
  • Compared to some competitors, Pixabay's images can feel less contemporary.
Pixabay is excellent for those trying to create content on a budget, whether for yourself or for a client. It has a huge library of high-quality images and videos for use in creative applications. Beyond that, Pixabay also has a library of free music and sound effects, which is enormously helpful for people trying to create content on a budget without worrying about getting in copyright trouble. Also, due to the fact that you can sort images by "transparent," it's easy to find cut-out images to use in composites.

Pixabay's free stock photos complement the content we publish on our blog. Each new article can require several images that match the theme and topic, and we turn to Pixabay to source these images. Almost all blogs rely on stock photos at least some of the time, and Pixabay has been our go-to source for a decade.
  • Fast image search
  • Wide variety of images
  • Decent quality photos
  • Increase threshold of image quality submitted by photographers.
  • Provide downloads in several preset dimensions.
  • Filter images by photographer experience (to reduce lower quality results).
  • Wider range of images on some themes.
We receive content from various contributors and must find matching images that have appropriate licenses. Photography copyright is a significant risk for online publishers with potentially harsh penalties. Pixabay is a reliable partner, as well knows the specific licensing requirements which are easy to follow. Pixabay reduces the risk significantly. While the range and quality of images are very good, they do not compare to paid stock photo libraries, as one would expect. If you need a highly specific image, then there is a chance it might not be on Pixabay, but it's always worth a check.

We use Pixabay for its imagery primarily. It solves the issue of trying to find imagery that we don't need to credit the author or pay for. We use the photos for internal flyers, posters, and social media content. It's great for vector art (when creating posters), background imagery for flyers and posters, and basic stock imagery. It's also super easy to search for what you're looking for.
  • Filtering system
  • search tool bar
  • tagging
  • nothing comes to my mind, I love Pixabay
  • If anything maybe some more variety with vector art
It's a great platform if you don't want to spend a lot of money on paying for imagery, vector art, etc. Pixabay doesn't have top-tier photos like Shutterstock and Getty images but it definitely gets the job done in a professional manner.

We mostly use Pixabay to Download Royalty-Free Music for our travel video on our YouTube Channel. We like using PixaBay because of the different music selection options it offers based on the mood. movement, theme, genre, etc. It's pretty easy to filter out the music that we want and use them for our travel videos.
  • Royalty Free Music
  • Great Sound effects
  • Sometimes when we use the Royalty-Free music, YouTube still catches that music. I guess this music is not listed as free to use on YouTube. There is some confusion there.
I would give it a rating of 8 out of 10 because of the great music selection and varieties of music that are available on the platform. Besides the music selection, the sound effects are also really awesome. Sometimes, YouTube still flags that music when used in YouTube videos possibly because they are listed as free.

I use Pixabay to populate images on slide decks for internal presentations, company videos, and self-paced e-learning courses. If I do not have a corresponding image to a concept, then Pixabay is where I go to find high-quality images that I am confident can be used both internally and externally.
  • Provides a library of high resolution images.
  • Tags images with a number of words and phrases.
  • Very simple user interface.
  • The images can often feel "too corporate" or "too on the nose".
  • Many of the camera angles are constantly repeated. This is not an issue of the angle is "straight on," but the more creative angles are bizarrely repetitive.
  • The emotional spectrum of the images is limited. Not much nuance. Every emotion is depicted at full force.
Pixabay is great when you need to quickly get a presentation or a visual element completed and you are lacking imagery. The images are almost always safe for any work environment, they are high quality, and downloading is very simple. Pixabay is not great when a visual representation requires great specificity. The image offering can be very generic.

I use Pixabay to search for free imagery on any design projects I have for multiple clients.
  • Good search tool
  • Need to improve its library of stock imagery
  • More natural and dynamic shots
  • More professional and modern illustration and vectors
Pixabay is a very user-friendly searching system and filter tool. However, the imagery has not improved, expanded, or developed to include more diverse, energetic, or natural photography. Many of the imagery available are images I can already find on other paying images sites and can be quite posed. I have found I use Pixabay less and less over the years due to this and use other sites more as they have a more extensive image library on a more diverse range of topics and industries.

I need to find photos and videos for social media that are not copyrighted. This includes weekly postings on social media, as well as photos that may be used in a course or for ads. It addresses finding some photos and videos that everyone else isn't always using. Sometimes people use Canva so often that you see their photos everywhere and it doesn't let your brand show. I also needed to find music for some podcast advertising and there is a plethora of styles available.
  • They have such a great variety of different types of media to use.
  • I love that they have more than just photos and video to use.
  • The quality of their images and music is very professional.
  • One thing that kind of sticks out is that with so much to choose from, you can feel overwhelmed.
  • Some of the photos I sometimes can find separately by googling. In the music business, it seems like many photos rotate on the web so there isn't as much to pick from.
  • I didn't see an option for more vertical videos for use in Instagram or TikTok.
It would be fantastic for professional-looking posts on Instagram, Facebook, websites, or maybe even as part of a YouTube video. I also think that any music that is used with VoiceOver could be fabulous because it could be used with presentations or as part of social media postings. It probably wouldn't be used as much for background on Zoom or to use video without either a voice-over or other text as part of it. I don't think the music should be used where someone thinks that you wrote it, so make sure that it is used with a VoiceOver or in a context where you can give credit to the composer.

It is easy to search for images and videos, you have access to images of different sizes, it does not impose excessive regulations, and it offers the option of adding a filter to your search according to the image, orientation, size, color, and categories, it is not necessary to have a user. I use Pixabay for stock images on our blog posts, social media content, and other marketing materials. They provide free high-resolution images and it is easy to use with a wide breadth of image types. The downloads work nicely with the Adobe suite and make creating beautiful marketing collateral.
  • Provide high resolution images
  • No copy rights
  • Integration with Adobe
  • Increase amount of available images
  • Search on the site can be tedious
If you need basic images Pixaby is a great way to find them. They do have a slightly limited scope of images they offer, but a lot of options for businesses do exist. They provide high-quality images that you are able to use in many applications. It is a great money saver as well when it comes to stock photography.

Pixabay is a go-to source for stock imagery for our organization. We use the Pixabay site to source imagery for marketing materials, especially when it comes to graphic design. While we usually aren't using the images from the site as the main imagery in our marketing materials, the images are high quality and fulfill the complementary purpose for which we source them.
  • High Quality Images
  • Royalty free
  • Easy-to-navigate site
  • Bigger library of images
  • Better search capabilities
Pixabay is perfect if you need generic imagery that is not only royalty-free but also high quality. Pixabay especially offers stunning outdoor imagery that is suitable for many graphic design projects. However, some organizations might find Pixabay lacking when it comes to how much content the site actually offers. Paid stock websites typically have a much more robust catalog compared to Pixabay.
