  • Made project management more agile centric
  • External spend and internal spend could be classified very easily
  • The tool has been designed in such way that for organizations that have a project being funded by multiple departments a negative value could also be entered which made it more easy. The only catch here is when a negative value is being entered it needs to be enclosed in parenthesis

  • Allowed for better tracking of projects and reporting.
  • Allowed for easier send of work to different groups.
  • Allowed for faster staff training, and lower staff cost as didn't need MS project staff. Less intimidating to others to use.

  • It has improved Resource Management. We now consistently represent resource available-to-promise against operational commitments, other projects, q-end commitments, vacations, etc.
  • It has improved our quality of forecasting. We now model project changes and future requests against available time and resources ("what-if" scenarios).
  • It has improved our strategic focus. We now manage our projects from a program/portfolio point of view to ensure we are resourcing company strategic initiatives.

  • We have a better handle on the time our employees spend in meetings. We have been able to provide more productive tasks.

  • Prior to tracking all work and all resource effort within Planview Enterprise (PVE), the burden on our Finance department to provide accurate billing to our customers in our Shared Services business model was a heavy burden. With nearly all necessary data coming directly from PVE, the Financial Analysts have been able to redirect many man hours to other activities that provide value to our leadership.
  • By using Web Services to import key data from a legacy system that cannot yet be fully retired into Planview Enterprise, we have been able to eliminate redundant business processes and provide a more complete data source for key business reporting.
  • In 2017, we will be implementing a new design to our Rating configuration that will eliminate the need for external manual processes to accurately calculate cost across our diverse resource pool of Associate, Contractor, Onshore and Offshore.

  • I can't quote specific numbers, but, before our current installation of Planview, data would exist in multiple sources and was duplicated across the organization. It took practically a full FTE to produce monthly reports on cost and effort across the portfolio of work. Plus, with duplicate sources of "truth", much time was spent reconciling the data across the multiple sources and debating which was correct. Now, the data comes directly from a single source and anyone in the company can view it real time.
  • The cost is not insignificant. If all a company needs is something to run project plans for a handful of projects, Planview is not for you. Planview is better suited for companies with multi-million dollar portfolios of work involving dozens or hundreds of resources. By getting that consolidated view into resource needs of the future, companies are able to make better strategic decisions around which projects to accept and which ones to defer or cancel.

  • In week one of implementing time tracking, we had 82% compliance. As of week 4, we have 84% compliance.
