Planview PPM Pro

Planview PPM Pro has been super helpful for planning and managing projects and requests. I think the reporting has great insight to request and project management. However, it can be quite difficult to create simple reports. The report builder is not very easy to use, and is missing many capabilities seen in various other reporting tools. Being able to have visibility to all current requests and being able to easily turn it into a project is extremely useful.

PPMPro is well suited for tracking new product introduction projects, as well as process changes. It serves to reliably track ongoing action items, issues, resource allocations for projects.
Areas where PPMPro is less appropriate for use: Project to project dependencies, automating action item notifications on multiple platforms, integrations of PPMPro into other platforms PMO typically uses (like MS Projects, Teams, ppt, etc)

PPM Pro is well suited as is for customers tracking waterfall projects or managing agile tasks elsewhere and making data from that tool available for reporting. Another tool would likely be better for a team or department that is fully agile.

PPM Pro is not well suited for Executive Level Reporting.

Planview PPM Pro is a fantastic tool to manage a portfolio of projects in an easy to use and intuitive approach. The data is all integrated which allows for information coming together is various modules. In addition, all reporting is real-time which helps increase the trust in the information that is presented. I highly recommend this product.

It works great for resource management and simple project management.
It is cumbersome to manage large projects with complicated and interconnected tasks.

Great for PMO management. However change culture is often hard in a company so better user accessibility would be great

User navigation

Project and portfolio management is what this tool was designed to do and it does it very well. However, asset management tracking isn't easily done. It would be nice to be able to track applications, assets, resources, etc. all in one place. We use this for document management related to projects, but tracking non-project work for resources is difficult.

Program management work pretty well. Project management for waterfall. It is less appropriate for iterative project methodologies and requires other tools such as Agile Place or a Jira integration.

Planview PPM Pro (formerly Innotas) is perfect for waterfall or mostly waterfall shops. If you are an agile shop, you need to implement Lean Kit or will not have the agile capabilities. We had success linking VersionOne to Planview PPM Pro (formerly Innotas) through lean kit but it is a lot of maintenance to keep adding fields, and this does not fully support a feature team link to time tracking.

Based on my experience, Planview PPM Pro is well suited for organizations that have a large number of projects to manage and are looking for a comprehensive solution to help them plan, track, and deliver those projects successfully. The software's ability to align projects with strategic objectives, track resources, and provide robust reporting and analytics capabilities make it particularly well-suited for organizations that need to manage their projects and resources effectively.

On the other hand, Planview PPM Pro may not be as well-suited for organizations that have a relatively small number of projects and do not require a full-featured project portfolio management solution. The software can be complex and may be overkill for organizations that do not need all of its features.

Additionally, Planview PPM Pro may not be as well-suited for organizations that have very specific project management needs and require a high level of customization. While the software does offer some customization options, it may not be as flexible as some organizations need.

It fails as a resource management tool. Usability and UI are poorly thought out and not suitable for the task.

Planview PPM Pro is best suited for Portfolio, Program and Project management. From evaluating project requests through capacity & demand management, Planview PPM Pro provides an organization the ability to strategically align their work. It's dashboard & reporting features allow a drill-down view into the work taking place at any level. Planview PPM Pro is less suited for operational/agile work management. However, it integrates very well with Planview's LeanKit application. LeanKit has a Kan-ban UI that allows teams to visually manage work, allowing them to get more of the right things done and less time managing the process. The integration allows Planview PPM Pro to be the reporting engine for the rest of the organization.

Mainly in capturing work hours and time spent on different projects.

It is really a great tool for project management. It includes management topics such as cost management, compliance, and resource planning at less of a cost than some other alternatives. However, it might not have the best customer support. Certainly, it should not be used as a sprint management tool such as Trello.

Makes team collaboration much easy. Manage portfolio well. Track time, activities, and insights of projects to enable one to meet deadlines. Best for providing visibility.

Planview PPM Pro can manage construction projects easily and manage resources through the product features which can be easily manipulated by all users. Estimates resources are very accurate and the budgeting results through Planview PPM Pro capabilities. The migration of different data across other third-party tools is easy and an excellent project data management tool.
