The tool provides insight for both current employees and potential prospects into what makes people "tick." It's provided insights that are leveraged in a variety of areas including internal corporate communications, recruiting, and more. It's a great way to see if candidates will mesh with your organization as you conduct the hiring process.
  • recruiting - determining fit
  • coaching - current employees and teams
  • Provided training isn't the most engaging
  • Occasional difficulty navigating the tool (changes to UI/setting locations)
Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment is perfect for scenarios in which you have to narrow down several strong candidates. It provides insights into how they could mesh with current employees while serving up resources to help the recruiter better communicate with a candidate. That said, the tool isn't a perfect science so you can't expect every PI influenced hire to pan out. Overall the success rate is quite high.

[Both our] recruitment and orientation team use the Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment in order to determine what assets our possible new hires will bring to our organization and how we can help develop other skills [the team] would like to see. We also use [the recruit's] results as part of our orientation so they can think about what [to] work on and improve.
  • Helps candidates think about their skills
  • User friendly
  • Candidates might think about other skills they would like to develop
  • Explain the questions differently.
  • Some times new hires have a hard time understanding the question
  • Adding more than two questions
  • Add scenarios and how they relate to their skills depending on their position
I believe our candidates are able to think about what other coworkers and managers believe their strengths are. [Candidates] are also able to think about what they would like to accomplish at our company and what [skills] they still [need] to develop. The assessment is very thorough.

The Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment is being used as a recruiting tool. As a recruiter, I like the fact that it can be used to gauge how each applicant fits into our work culture. It gives me an idea as to how they learn, and yes, even a little glimpse into their personality. Only management and the HR department use this program.
  • Gives insights about how each applicant learns
  • Advises or gives ideas as to how to train then in ways that relate to how they learn
  • It gives the company an idea (not written in stone) if the applicant would be a great fit for our work culture.
  • It's a learning tool for our managers and administrators.
  • I don't think it needs any improvement other than its customer service.
  • Maybe switch questions around so that they are not so cookie cutter questions.
I believe that Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment is well suited during the application process. It allows the recruiter, managers, and admin to get a glimpse at each individual assessment and how they rate. It gives an explanation as to the candidate's characteristics such as venturer, altruist, operator, guardian, scholar, maverick, etc. It allows us to set each position with a job target.

Hire the correct people

Predictive Index is part of our culture. No candidate will be hired unless we see what we're looking for in their report? It is invaluable in both hiring, and then managing our workforce effectively. Every employee is approached with their PI in mind.
  • Clues you in to what you should expect from an employee
  • Gives you a road map for how to work with a person.
  • Let's you see who you're talking to, not who they're trying to project
  • The time it takes to really learn how to read the report is extensive
  • There is no casual use of the PI. You need to commit to it.
This is a great tool for identifying talent to help your team. If I need someone with a specific personality to fill a gap in my team, it can narrow it down to who I want. Too often a sales team is stacked with only one type of person. Clients don't respond to that. We need different types of people to meet our customers where they're comfortable

Our organization uses the Predictive Index Assessment as a communication tool as well as a recruiting tool. The entire organization uses the PI, however, we see most benefit in our leadership teams.
  • The capability to accurately define a person's strengths and needs
  • Customer support. I have found them to always be quick to respond and helpful.
  • Constant updates/upgrades to the system
  • Adding PDF capabilities in their beta program (in process)
I recommend PI for defining the desired characteristics in a requisition. From there you can use this tool to match talent to your open positions and make an informed hiring decision. PI will even help produce some helpful interview questions that are targeted at each applicant's gaps.

At Gateway Plastics, Inc. we use PI in the Human Resources department as part of the hiring process. It shows us what type of behaviors the candidate innately has, so we can predict how they may or may not like the position/environment the candidate will work in.
  • Showing what drives an individual
  • Explaining the needs and behaviors of an individual
  • Helping with the selection of candidates and development of current employees
  • The transition from the old analytical patterns to the new patterns is a bit confusing
It is very well suited for recruitment and also the development of employees. I can't think of a situation where it would be less appropriate to use.

PI is used for interpersonal awareness, team dynamics, job fit, leadership development, conflict resolution and team building. We primarily use it for our corporate, management and guest service populations. PI ensures that we are placing the right people in the right positions. It also has created a common language so conflict resolution happens in a quicker and more comfortable manner. We have targeted development conversations using PI that have proven to develop our managers faster and more effectively.
  • Creates a common language to discuss motivational needs, behaviors and drives. Allows coaching conversations to happen in a more safe and productive manner.
  • Ensure the right people are in the right positions. The PRO helps to identify the successful candidate and the candidate's PI can be evaluated using the PRO through targeted interviewing questions.
  • PI helps the leadership development conversation using the personal development plan tool. The tool lays out the strengths, possible development areas and self coaching tips. This takes the guess work out of prepping for the conversation and serves as the foundation for the conversation to take off. It also lays out possible development or action plan items that can be followed up on in a timely manner.
  • Printing all of the reports at once is not an available feature.
  • I think the placard is too simple. Adding a few more items to each factor.
  • More management tools. I love the personal development plan tool and the management/peer scorecard. I would like to see more tools.
PI Behavioral Assessment can be used for selection, job fit, interviewing questions, onboarding, training needs, coaching, interpersonal effectiveness, change management, engagement, leadership development, team building, team dynamics, succession planning and goal setting. It is applicable in most areas of human resources and operations. I can't think of an area where it wouldn't be applicable.

We use PI Behavioral Assessment in our selection process for every position within the company. Once on-boarded we also use the results for coaching, training, and effective management.
  • PI provides a great tool, with service to support any time we have a question on the results or how to use them.
  • The tool is reliable and valid, we can trust it to produce accurate results.
  • They are always innovating to make their product and platform better.
  • There is nothing I can think of.
PI is most appropriate to be used in conjunction with an interview, resume, and other indicators. Do not use it solely to make a hiring decision. People are complex, as is the system.

In our company we use the Predictive Index in our hiring process to ensure a good job fit. We also use it in enhancing team dynamics and productivity. Most recently, it is becoming an initial focal point in our succession planning process. Not only will the PRO help us define those behaviors and skillsets needed most in a position, but it will give us another tool for evaluating potential successors and in creating the development opportunities needed for those successors to be ready when we have change in our organization.
  • Ease of use from a desktop or mobile perspective.
  • Excellent new tools such as the Placard.
  • Job fit identification.
  • While not necessarily a weakness in the assessment, it does require initial and ongoing training to really understand and gain the most benefits from the assessment.
Great for job fit and enhancing existing work teams.

PI Behavioral Assessment (PI) is currently being used by my organization. We are using it across the entire organization to both screen managerial candidates as well as to assess current associates to find better ways to interact with each other. We have found that PI helps us greatly in our selection process.
  • Customer Service
  • Training
  • Engagement with Clients
  • The website has room for improvement. The look of it is a little dated and it sometimes has quirks that make it difficult to use.
This product is great for larger companies that hire many managerial level associates. It does have a cost that is much easier to absorb by a larger company. For a smaller company, this may not serve its purpose as well.

We are finishing our roll out to the entire company, explaining to them how it works and how to read it. We are using it to view succession planning as well as develop development guides. The biggest way we use PI currently is hiring.
  • Accurate
  • Simple to understand
  • Continuously improving
  • Excellent customer service when issues come up
  • Awesome training program
  • I would like more personalized text on their behavioral report
  • I would like to be able to jump between companies and people easier on their admin login
  • I would like to be able to have a download all option for all download content from PI completion
Very well suited for development and succession planning. We currently have managers to hang their hats on this as their decision maker for hiring.

Simple and Effective

PI is the best behavioral assessment on the market. It's very simple to administer, interpret, and take an assessment. Features like job matching, suggested interview questions, and graphs make it very easy to view how a candidate will fit into an organization at a glance. Highly recommended.
  • Interview guides based on strengths and shortcomings compared to a job's requirements.
  • The assessment itself takes between 5 and 10 minutes to take.
  • First class customer service.
  • High price.
  • Training is extensive and time-consuming.
  • A full interpretation of results is difficult without studying the process.
Great for high-level positions where personality fit is very important. Administering assessments for lower-level positions with naturally high turnover may be seen as overkill depending on what industry you're in.
