Procore is user-friendly but is also very in-depth. I would say it takes a few projects before someone feels efficient in Procore. It is also a habit to send an email when you have questions, so going to Procore to create an RFI is something that takes time to get used to.

Most of the integration process is easy, however, working with the custom solutions team to integrate company specific documents can be cumbersome. The custom solution team is great, they are not hard to work with, the issue is just confirming how the document needs to function and relaying that can be difficult. Most of the documents we implemented had to go through several revisions until the document functioned as intended.

There is a learning curve when using Procore and it takes time to really utilize all the features that are available since there are so many layers to each of the categories. The good thing is the more you use it, the easier it gets. Project Management is complicated which makes it reasonable to expect some level of time to be needed to truly utilize all the features and layers available in Procore. When all the tools are utilized, it can be a powerful tool providing a level of detail on a project that allows you to manage more effectively, reduce time losses and track the numbers.

We had a hard time when first utilizing Procore. There was miscommunication as to what information could be brought over from our old system (Contract Manager) and what could not, which created problems. Training was not sufficient, as we were relying on videos and articles rather than real people familiar with the system. No one took enough time to get to know our company and our processes in order to mold the system to meet our needs. Early stages of phone customer support left much to be desired. Each time we called with a question or concern, we were put on hold for extended periods while the rep researched the question and then the answer--there were no end users of the product, which lead to wasted time on both ends. That has tremendously improved in the last year, and customer service is now very knowledgeable and it is obvious they are familiar with the product they represent.

It took some work to get used to going to Procore first for information, rather than pulling job books etc., but now that it has become instinctual it's very frustrating to go back to the "old" way. We had some outfield personnel who were pretty resistant, but now everyone has come on board and it's becoming a great tool.

I don't think Procore takes any longer than a competing product, but integrating is an enormous task that took well over year.

Going from excel sheets to a software package really was frustrating for a lot of our employees. It changed all of the daily tasks completely without them seeing the immediate value.

Our field guys took took to the mobile app way faster than the office staff

My opinion has to do with integration between the tools. This is an area where Procore needs improvement.
During a construction project, changes don't happen for no reason. Keeping proper integration between the different tools is crucial. To build up the history of a particular item right now, it is necessary to manually go tool by tool trying to identify which items are relevant to the history that is been sought. If the software is provided with a means of relating items between tools (for example, if I'm creating a change request, to be able to mark it as a consequence of the response to an RFI), this process would be a lot more efficient.

There are many levels of computer literacy within a company. The product should be more intuitive rather than requiring as much training and support. All the hours of training it takes to make someone a Procore expert can scare away the managers that are less computer literate. You know you have a successful software when it requires little direction to be functional.

Our company had never utilized a software package before so it was a steep learning curve. In the end, it was well worth it once we got the staff on board. We had to train some employees on how to use a smartphone so they could use Procore.

They have a set time limit for integration implementation with our assigned person, and they mainly point us to training videos and communicate only via video conferencing. In the end, we had to force ourselves to integrate and figure things out on our own.

It takes a time commitment to understand how Procore works. There is a great training system as well as live chat and live calls to help us with any questions we run into. Our new hires go through the training and get certified, then they can hit the ground running. If they have any issues, Procore support is there to help.

It was fairly easy to start using right away. The more you rely on it the better it works. Unfortunately, if you rely on it completely then system outages can be devastating.

We don't integrate Procore into our Financials system. Since we have a partial implementation, most of the integration is done with spreadsheets or word processing forms.
I believe that using Procore's existing features where each Procore tool integrates with the others is enough integration for us to be very successful and up our game for project management.
