We use Progress Sitefinity to manage our corporate websites. It is used and maintained solely by our marketing manager. Our website is a means to showcase our products and services to potential and existing customers. We also use our website to recruit new employees.
  • Progress Sitefinity is a very straightforward and user-friendly platform.
  • Having a dedicated account manager makes life so much easier.
  • Though the platform is straightforward, there are many elements of the CMS that I believe should be much easier to modify/customize.

I think Progress Sitefinity, if implemented correctly is likely for any scenario. The trick is to think about where you would like your website to be, not where it is currently. Make sure you implement a site that can evolve with that vision.

We have used the Sitefinity platform to build out a custom Intranet site to store company tribal knowledge, as well as a marketing search engine and a mapping application. All of these have had a big business impact and have been done with a fairly low cost and quick timeline. We are very happy with Sitefinity and look forward to seeing how it grows over time!
  • Sitefinity is very flexible in how you can set up your site and what you can customize. It's a very powerful system with lots of options for plug-ins/integration.
  • The page editing tools are robust and easy to use.
  • The file management is easy to use as well.
  • The main issues I have had with Sitefinity relate to their support. We have had several bugs or issues in the back-end that have taken a long time to fix. We haven't been able to do a platform version upgrade due to all of the projects being done. They have improved their response over the last 6 months. This is not a major issue, just something to be aware of and look for.
  • Sitefinity is a very powerful system and can be complex. You need a great third party vendor to do it right. If you follow this path, the results will be fantastic.
Well suited for medium to large organizations with complex problems to solve. Not as well suited for a small company as it is a complex system.

Sitefinity is being used organization-wide as the CMS of choice for our public facing websites.
  • Version 8 of Sitefinity proved to be a worthy upgrade addressing one of our main concerns in the past: Performance. Performance of the application is very good - makes the system feel lightweight even though there are a lot of complexities it manages.
  • Sitefinity is very easy to integrate and customize. My development team has been pretty happy with the product flexibility and the ability to add controls and create a unique user experience.
  • Easy to use for content writers and the marketing department. Eliminates the need to have "technical" resources in the middle between marketing and the actual content. Reduces time to market and empowers users.
  • Focus, focus, focus. Since the progress acquisition, the product seems to be losing focus trying to be everything for everybody.
  • Many of the "new" features" are too basic, lack maturity and are more marketing fluff than provide actual benefit. Lots of wasting time trying to make them work. For example - discussion forums, event modules, etc.
  • Need faster response to the ever-changing landscape of browser upgrades. New versions of Chrome, Firefox, etc., break functionality albeit non-critical, the user experience is impacted.
  • Great solution for getting websites up and running quickly.
  • Great and solid performance.

We use Sitefinity as our main CMS for the entire organization. We have around 250 pages of information and 10 users who regularly contribute content. Our site has moderate traffic - around 50,000 sessions a month and Sitefinity provides a stable, easy to use, relatively fast experience for our visitors as well as the staff that manages content.
  • Sitefinity is very easy to use out of the box. Entry level developers and marketers should find it relatively intuitive.
  • Sitefinity is also easily customizable by more experienced developers.
  • Sitefinity provides the standard CMS features that you would want - approval workflows, content scheduling, etc., all for a good price.
  • We haven't been happy with the events module and finally opted on using a different system entirely for displaying events on our website.
  • We have also struggled with the process of upgrading to new versions, there are always errors that have to manually be fixed (though maybe this is a result of our own errors).
Sitefinity is a great option when you consider all of the features provided for the price. It seems to be a great option for mid-sized organizations, especially if the developers have experience with .Net applications.

It is being used by our marketing department to manage our company website. We previously outsourced but have now brought the process in-house to be able to make changes quicker and on our own schedule. We are a small company and very hands on, we have two users for Sitefinity, myself and one other.
  • It is very easy to use and follow.
  • Training is simple because the product has a nice flow to it.
  • There are times when we need to drop in a content box and are unable to do so. Sometimes we need to quickly publish a page, and then unpublish it to be able to drop in the content box. This only happens occasionally, but it is annoying when it does happen.
For those with not much CMS experience, such as myself, it is very easy to use and navigate. Changing content, pictures and adding forms are very simple to do. Forms are also very easy to create. I actually have not found any scenarios where Sitefinity is less appropriate. We have been using it for two years and are very happy with it.

Outstanding .NET CMS

We needed a content management system that allowed our marketing department to make updates to our site without having to go through the software development team. It allows the software developers to extend the website functionality by creating .NET User Controls and MVC, while letting the marketing department add pages, tweak content, etc.
  • Technical support is quick and thorough. Whenever we encounter an issue, they are very helpful in resolving it.
  • They do several releases per year, increasing functionality and eliminating bugs.
  • Sitefinity works very well. I don't have to worry about issues, it's one less thing I have to worry about.
  • Sitefinity needs better auditing support at non-enterprise levels. At the professional level, I would like to see logs of who changed what and when.
In a .NET environment where you want a lot of flexibility and the ability to extend website functionality using MVC or User Controls, Sitefinity is great.

It is being used by our business users to convey information to the committees and clients outside our organization on what they do. It is used as a portal to the users. It is used to hold and manage our many documents thru a customized file management system/module. It is being used by a small business group. It addresses the timeliness of releasing the materials to the users/public and puts the users in control of their content.
  • Lets users take more control over content without a developer.
  • Ability to get a site up and running very quickly.
  • Can build your own modules to create LOB apps.
  • File management system needs major improvement. We handle lots of documents on the web and it'll be good to be able to have one that is easy to use and built in. The current one is really bad.
  • Documentation of how to use the product for developers would be nice. It seems like lots of things are found in forums and are not documented.
It is good for the users to manage their own content and to get up a site and running quickly. It would be nice to be able to upgrade in a smooth transition but I realize this is not very possible but any customization is really hard to upgrade. Customization is good but could be hard to upgrade if not kept up to date.

Our department uses Sitefinity to host two websites. Sitefinity has made creating and updating web-based content easy. Especially like the library features which allow me to manage and easily display a large number of documents online.
  • Library feature - nicely displays a large number of documents.
  • Creating and managing users - very easy!
  • No cons, very easy to implement and use.
We are a non-profit with information that changes very quickly. Very satisfied with what we've been able to do with Sitefinity.

Progress Sitefinity is used as the backend content provider for my company's website. It is used by my whole organization. The business solution it gives us is a secure source of communication with our members.
  • The strength of Progress Sitefinity is the ability to create a user-friendly software to manage the company website. I am not a tech person and I use to dread updating a past organization's website. However, Sitefinity is an awesome product to use.
  • I can make changes when I am at work and at home and the software is compatible with all internet browsers.
  • Uploading documents and creating links on the web pages are so easy to do and I love the different options I have with the links. For example, I can choose whether a certain link will open in a new window.
  • One of the issues I have with Sitefinity is the missing functionality of the undo feature when I am updating a web page.
Progress Sitefinity is well suited for those that are not experienced with working with website codes and if a change is needed to be made quickly to the website. I find that the software is very user-friendly and I like that the format is similar to Microsoft Word products which makes it the better product in my experience to use.

We use Sitefinity as our public facing website, explaining our offerings to our clients as well as showcasing our successful client interactions.
  • Integrations are fantastic.
  • Communication with the Sitefinity team is amazing.
  • The value Sitefinity brings to the table is unmatched.
  • The transition to Progress took some effort, but it ended up great.
  • The licensing models took some getting used to, but I believe they are explained rather well today.
  • Nothing, Sitefinity is awesome!
We love implementing Sitefinity at clients where eCommerce is a main focus.

We use Progress Sitefinity to manage our public facing website. The platform is used primarily by our marketing team to add content such as landing pages and blog posts. Our IT development team works with Sitefinity to integrate with our internal systems. The CMS is very reliable and allows us to quickly update the content on the website without difficulty.
  • Stable reliable platform
  • Edit and publish content quickly
  • Responsive support team
  • The admin area UI - the layout feels a little behind the curve and isn't responsive
  • Documentation and user guides are overly complex
  • No ability to edit site CSS files directly from the admin area
Good solution for medium to large businesses who are looking for a stable and reliable CMS. There are better solutions available for small businesses that are less expensive and have better community support for finding answers to development questions. We don't pay the additional fee for full support - and so response turn around time is average.

We are the biggest nursing school in America and have been using Sitefinity for the last 6 years. The latest version of Sitefinity was implemented by us in December 2016. With faster load times and enhanced features, we are currently very happy with Sitefinity. We did do a comparative analysis with Adobe AEM a couple of years ago and chose to stay with Sitefinity.
  • Load time of lesser than 4 seconds.
  • Blog feature has been great for us.
  • URL mapping and advanced SEO functionality.
  • Some documentation is not up to the mark.
  • Better discussion forums would help user solve issues.
  • Midsize websites are best suited for Sitefinity.
  • Large website could be a maintenance nightmare.

Sitefinity is used by the entire organization. It helps us to manage and publish relevant content for a large audience.
  • Sitefinity's features are fairly comprehensive.
  • It is easy to use. We have several non-technical users who use it to publish content on a regular basis.
  • The support is excellent. All our technical questions have been answered prompty.
  • In the trial phase, we would love the ability to stress test Sitefinity with some real user scenarios.
  • When Word documents are imported into the blog, the formatting is lost. For example, bullets appear as text and cannot be reinstated by Sitefinity.
Sitefinity is appropriate when you have a blend of technical and non-technical resources who are working on publishing content. In absence of technical resources, it can become challenging to navigate the product.

Sitefinity is currently used to manage the content of our corporate website. The website we developed with Sitefinity, was originally 6 different and disparate websites, managed by different business units. Today, the now streamlined and data-driven website is managed by our digital marketing group for the benefit of the entire organization.
  • The product was very easy to learn. With some assistance from a third party vendor, we were able to deploy the first release within 4 months.
  • Progress/Telerik continue to put a lot of effort into improving and enhancing Sitefinity, which is already a feature rich product.
  • The development and support teams for Sitefinity are amazing. They provide unparalleled support!
  • Much of the documentation in the past has come from third party vendors. It would be great to see this come from Progress directly.
  • Better regression of the product before each release. There have been cases where the product was released with new features but pre-existing and unrelated features were inadvertently broken.
  • Better backward comparability of the APIs. Some APIs have been deprecated in the past or existing interfaces were broken.
Sitefinity is a well-rounded content management system, without too many bells and whistles. In my opinion, Sitefinity is a great platform for any scenario, from small business to enterprise. I have been very happy with the product to date and continue to see good improvements.

We use Sitefinity as the CMS for several external corporate websites. Our choice to use Sitefinity was to address the problems of slow and non-intuitive content management and design limitations we experienced with our previous CMS solution (Microsoft SharePoint).
  • Sitefiinity offered the out-of-the-box functionality we wanted. The deployment required very little custom development to meet our needs.
  • Responsive layout features are great and allow us to easily spin up new pages.
  • The support team is generally responsive and helpful when we encounter issues.
  • Creating, managing and publishing content is very easy and can be managed entirely by our communications department without assistance from IT.
  • With each new version, there seems to be a new batch of minor bugs. Because of this, we have to dedicate a significant amount of time to testing during each upgrade in order to identify the bugs and determine if they will impact our processes. The Site Sync feature appears to be particularly buggy, which is inconvenient because it's one of our most-used tools.
  • The new user interface introduced a lot of white and light gray, so there's not as much contrast between different elements as there used to be. It's a clean look but the elements are little non-distinct.
Great for website content management, particularly if you share content/assets across multiple sites.

Sitefinity is the CMS used to power the public web site of our regional government. It has extensive customizations (more than 50 sections with custom C# code), including Sharepoint integration, Crystal Reports integration, ArcGIS integration, and other LOB systems integration. We have several dozen editors throughout the organization, coordinated centrally, but individually responsible for maintaining their content.
  • Extremely configurable and customizable -- we haven't hit any requirements that we have not been able to satisfy with the solution.
  • Very broad and deep functionality of product. eg a rich security model, task scheduler, email list integration, etc.
  • Ease of use for web editors means non-technical users are able to maintain their content.
  • Patching / upgrading is tedious and time consuming, with a moderate degree of risk; therefore we only do it annually and miss out on potential features and fixes.
  • While developing, the spin-up time of the application is quite slow, so small changes take minutes instead of seconds to validate.
The strength of Sitefinity is in its customizability. This, however, requires strong technical expertise, including programming in ASP.Net. It is well suited to be used as-is out of the box by relatively non-technical people; however if it is to be customized, it should be done with a knowledgeable third-party vendor or a strong in-house team.

We are using Progress Sitefinity as the CMS for our website. Sitefinity is used by our entire organization in one way or another: our sales and customer service departments rely on the content provided, our marketing department manages our websites through it, and our software development department works in developing and deploying Sitefinity. Sitefinity has enabled us to launch a new website for consumers and professionals, as well as serve as a resource for our existing customers.
  • Sitefinity's Project Feather is an excellent platform for front-end development. We were able to create custom modules for our site redesign.
  • The modular design of Sitefinity enables us to quickly build pages from scratch and customize the content for our users.
  • Sitefinity offers good image and document management services.
  • The backend system for administrators recently went through a cosmetic refresh, but it could still be made more user-friendly.
  • Sitefinity can require a steeper learning curve than other CMSs that I've used.
  • We've had success with Sitefinity being supported by our internal software development team. If you didn't have on-site developers, it would be more difficult to manage.
Sitefinity is well-suited for marketing and customer engagement sites. It is not a good fit for e-commerce.

We use the software to manage our internal and external websites. It is used by the content managers across the organization to manage and update their specific information in an efficient and controlled manner. It allows our environments to be managed in a streamlined and secure way that helps in reducing the amount of code and digital media maintenance we need to do.
  • System is easy to use.
  • Good support system that helps with ensuring successful implementation.
  • Relationship managers are knowledgeable and supportive.
  • Pages and content can be managed by content managers and the process is intuitive enough that we didn't have to spend a lot of time training.
  • The reuse of code allows us to reduce the amount of code and places the code resides to keep our environment clean and efficient.
  • It is sometimes difficult working with offshore resources only because of time differences.
  • We have submitted product enhancements.
  • Quicker turnaround on hot fixes.
It reduced the amount of help desk tickets submitted for support by almost 85%.

Sitefinity is currently being used across our organization to manage online content relating to our events. The responsive design and ease of use allows multiple users of different technical backgrounds to manage and maintain websites. It improved the overall look and feel of our websites, and addressed issues of mobile site design requirements as it is responsive.
  • Back end of platform is very intuitive. Users at all experience levels are able to learn & manage content.
  • Permission levels are very defined.
  • Design and over all look of websites are improved. Responsive design omits the need to do things twice.
  • Multi-site management allows for streamlining of all content.
  • More training in regards to permissions as they are very involved.
  • Some custom development may not play well when upgrading versions.
If you are looking for a way to manage multiple websites efficiently Sitefinity may be for you. The CMS is very easy to use across entire teams at all levels, and scaling up is made simple when you need to grow. While it can be costly, the overall ease of use and speed which it allows changes to occur may be worth it depending on your needs.

We use Sitefinity as our sole CMS tool, to build and maintain websites in 11 different countries. We will be deploying another 9 sites by end of Q1, 2017. Our company had two different CMS systems and we wanted to cut costs and complexity, by supporting one CMS tool. We consolidated to Sitefinity. Additionally, the other CMS tool was not PCI compliant. By consolidating to Sitefinity we are now compliant.
  • Easy to implement other .net solutions into the platform.
  • Progress Sitefinity played well with the new responsive design we were implementing.
  • New page templates can be built and utilized very quickly.
  • We struggle with the technical support, and sometimes find that our knowledge of the product surpasses that of the technical support person on the phone.
  • We decided to use a third party search because the search engine in Sitefinity did not meet our needs.
  • At times we see latency issues with our sites. To date, we have not been able to isolate the cause.
  • We have not gotten site sync to work properly for us.
Sitefinity is well suited for IT groups with .net experience. Additionally, the team building and maintaining the actual content should have a good knowledge of HTML. The WYSIWYG editor isn't the greatest, so if issues with pages occur, having a knowledge of HTLM comes in very handy.
