Reviews
(151-171 of 171)Good service and support
- Progress Sitefinity is a very straightforward and user-friendly platform.
- Having a dedicated account manager makes life so much easier.
- Though the platform is straightforward, there are many elements of the CMS that I believe should be much easier to modify/customize.
I think Progress Sitefinity, if implemented correctly is likely for any scenario. The trick is to think about where you would like your website to be, not where it is currently. Make sure you implement a site that can evolve with that vision.
Powerful and easy to use Enterprise CMS
- Sitefinity is very flexible in how you can set up your site and what you can customize. It's a very powerful system with lots of options for plug-ins/integration.
- The page editing tools are robust and easy to use.
- The file management is easy to use as well.
- The main issues I have had with Sitefinity relate to their support. We have had several bugs or issues in the back-end that have taken a long time to fix. We haven't been able to do a platform version upgrade due to all of the projects being done. They have improved their response over the last 6 months. This is not a major issue, just something to be aware of and look for.
- Sitefinity is a very powerful system and can be complex. You need a great third party vendor to do it right. If you follow this path, the results will be fantastic.
Solid performer
- Version 8 of Sitefinity proved to be a worthy upgrade addressing one of our main concerns in the past: Performance. Performance of the application is very good - makes the system feel lightweight even though there are a lot of complexities it manages.
- Sitefinity is very easy to integrate and customize. My development team has been pretty happy with the product flexibility and the ability to add controls and create a unique user experience.
- Easy to use for content writers and the marketing department. Eliminates the need to have "technical" resources in the middle between marketing and the actual content. Reduces time to market and empowers users.
- Focus, focus, focus. Since the progress acquisition, the product seems to be losing focus trying to be everything for everybody.
- Many of the "new" features" are too basic, lack maturity and are more marketing fluff than provide actual benefit. Lots of wasting time trying to make them work. For example - discussion forums, event modules, etc.
- Need faster response to the ever-changing landscape of browser upgrades. New versions of Chrome, Firefox, etc., break functionality albeit non-critical, the user experience is impacted.
- Great solution for getting websites up and running quickly.
- Great and solid performance.
- Sitefinity is very easy to use out of the box. Entry level developers and marketers should find it relatively intuitive.
- Sitefinity is also easily customizable by more experienced developers.
- Sitefinity provides the standard CMS features that you would want - approval workflows, content scheduling, etc., all for a good price.
- We haven't been happy with the events module and finally opted on using a different system entirely for displaying events on our website.
- We have also struggled with the process of upgrading to new versions, there are always errors that have to manually be fixed (though maybe this is a result of our own errors).
Easy to Use
- It is very easy to use and follow.
- Training is simple because the product has a nice flow to it.
- There are times when we need to drop in a content box and are unable to do so. Sometimes we need to quickly publish a page, and then unpublish it to be able to drop in the content box. This only happens occasionally, but it is annoying when it does happen.
Outstanding .NET CMS
- Technical support is quick and thorough. Whenever we encounter an issue, they are very helpful in resolving it.
- They do several releases per year, increasing functionality and eliminating bugs.
- Sitefinity works very well. I don't have to worry about issues, it's one less thing I have to worry about.
- Sitefinity needs better auditing support at non-enterprise levels. At the professional level, I would like to see logs of who changed what and when.
Using Sitefinity from the beginning to now
- Lets users take more control over content without a developer.
- Ability to get a site up and running very quickly.
- Can build your own modules to create LOB apps.
- File management system needs major improvement. We handle lots of documents on the web and it'll be good to be able to have one that is easy to use and built in. The current one is really bad.
- Documentation of how to use the product for developers would be nice. It seems like lots of things are found in forums and are not documented.
Very Satisfied
- Library feature - nicely displays a large number of documents.
- Creating and managing users - very easy!
- No cons, very easy to implement and use.
User-friendly content manager
- The strength of Progress Sitefinity is the ability to create a user-friendly software to manage the company website. I am not a tech person and I use to dread updating a past organization's website. However, Sitefinity is an awesome product to use.
- I can make changes when I am at work and at home and the software is compatible with all internet browsers.
- Uploading documents and creating links on the web pages are so easy to do and I love the different options I have with the links. For example, I can choose whether a certain link will open in a new window.
- One of the issues I have with Sitefinity is the missing functionality of the undo feature when I am updating a web page.
We love Sitefinity!
- Integrations are fantastic.
- Communication with the Sitefinity team is amazing.
- The value Sitefinity brings to the table is unmatched.
- The transition to Progress took some effort, but it ended up great.
- The licensing models took some getting used to, but I believe they are explained rather well today.
- Nothing, Sitefinity is awesome!
Steady as a rock
- Stable reliable platform
- Edit and publish content quickly
- Responsive support team
- The admin area UI - the layout feels a little behind the curve and isn't responsive
- Documentation and user guides are overly complex
- No ability to edit site CSS files directly from the admin area
Sitefinity 9.2, way to go!
- Load time of lesser than 4 seconds.
- Blog feature has been great for us.
- URL mapping and advanced SEO functionality.
- Some documentation is not up to the mark.
- Better discussion forums would help user solve issues.
- Midsize websites are best suited for Sitefinity.
- Large website could be a maintenance nightmare.
Easy to use with robust support
- Sitefinity's features are fairly comprehensive.
- It is easy to use. We have several non-technical users who use it to publish content on a regular basis.
- The support is excellent. All our technical questions have been answered prompty.
- In the trial phase, we would love the ability to stress test Sitefinity with some real user scenarios.
- When Word documents are imported into the blog, the formatting is lost. For example, bullets appear as text and cannot be reinstated by Sitefinity.
Sitefinity - Great product from an even better company.
- The product was very easy to learn. With some assistance from a third party vendor, we were able to deploy the first release within 4 months.
- Progress/Telerik continue to put a lot of effort into improving and enhancing Sitefinity, which is already a feature rich product.
- The development and support teams for Sitefinity are amazing. They provide unparalleled support!
- Much of the documentation in the past has come from third party vendors. It would be great to see this come from Progress directly.
- Better regression of the product before each release. There have been cases where the product was released with new features but pre-existing and unrelated features were inadvertently broken.
- Better backward comparability of the APIs. Some APIs have been deprecated in the past or existing interfaces were broken.
Great CMS that is easy to customize
- Easy to customize
- Easy to edit content
- Dynamic modules
- Inconsistencies between modules
- Support can be slow to resolve issues
- Events and eCommerce could use some work
Can't beat the functionality and ease of use
- Sitefiinity offered the out-of-the-box functionality we wanted. The deployment required very little custom development to meet our needs.
- Responsive layout features are great and allow us to easily spin up new pages.
- The support team is generally responsive and helpful when we encounter issues.
- Creating, managing and publishing content is very easy and can be managed entirely by our communications department without assistance from IT.
- With each new version, there seems to be a new batch of minor bugs. Because of this, we have to dedicate a significant amount of time to testing during each upgrade in order to identify the bugs and determine if they will impact our processes. The Site Sync feature appears to be particularly buggy, which is inconvenient because it's one of our most-used tools.
- The new user interface introduced a lot of white and light gray, so there's not as much contrast between different elements as there used to be. It's a clean look but the elements are little non-distinct.
Extremely configurable and great ease of use for editors
- Extremely configurable and customizable -- we haven't hit any requirements that we have not been able to satisfy with the solution.
- Very broad and deep functionality of product. eg a rich security model, task scheduler, email list integration, etc.
- Ease of use for web editors means non-technical users are able to maintain their content.
- Patching / upgrading is tedious and time consuming, with a moderate degree of risk; therefore we only do it annually and miss out on potential features and fixes.
- While developing, the spin-up time of the application is quite slow, so small changes take minutes instead of seconds to validate.
Custom Front-End Designs with Sitefinity
- Sitefinity's Project Feather is an excellent platform for front-end development. We were able to create custom modules for our site redesign.
- The modular design of Sitefinity enables us to quickly build pages from scratch and customize the content for our users.
- Sitefinity offers good image and document management services.
- The backend system for administrators recently went through a cosmetic refresh, but it could still be made more user-friendly.
- Sitefinity can require a steeper learning curve than other CMSs that I've used.
- We've had success with Sitefinity being supported by our internal software development team. If you didn't have on-site developers, it would be more difficult to manage.
SiteFinity is a great business partner
- System is easy to use.
- Good support system that helps with ensuring successful implementation.
- Relationship managers are knowledgeable and supportive.
- Pages and content can be managed by content managers and the process is intuitive enough that we didn't have to spend a lot of time training.
- The reuse of code allows us to reduce the amount of code and places the code resides to keep our environment clean and efficient.
- It is sometimes difficult working with offshore resources only because of time differences.
- We have submitted product enhancements.
- Quicker turnaround on hot fixes.
Sitefinity, easy to use and looks great.
- Back end of platform is very intuitive. Users at all experience levels are able to learn & manage content.
- Permission levels are very defined.
- Design and over all look of websites are improved. Responsive design omits the need to do things twice.
- Multi-site management allows for streamlining of all content.
- More training in regards to permissions as they are very involved.
- Some custom development may not play well when upgrading versions.
- Easy to implement other .net solutions into the platform.
- Progress Sitefinity played well with the new responsive design we were implementing.
- New page templates can be built and utilized very quickly.
- We struggle with the technical support, and sometimes find that our knowledge of the product surpasses that of the technical support person on the phone.
- We decided to use a third party search because the search engine in Sitefinity did not meet our needs.
- At times we see latency issues with our sites. To date, we have not been able to isolate the cause.
- We have not gotten site sync to work properly for us.
