Projector's cloud-based Professional Services Automation (PSA) software helps project-based services organizations track time and expenses, invoice clients, schedule resources, and manage projects. Its three modules span a more comprehensive set of uses than typical project management software. The Accounting module helps the user track time and expenses and manage invoices and billing. Also it syncs with the company's accounting systems as a sub-ledger. The Resource Scheduling module matches people to projects, allowing managers to match available resource parameters to needs, supporting hiring needs. The vendor says this helps managers maintain workforce profitability. The Project Management module provides project workspaces, the familiar hub of project management software which facilitates communication and collaboration efficiency across team members.

These modules can be integrated with other programs (e.g. Microsoft Project, Salesforce, Quickbooks). Online demos and a free trial period are available.

Projector PSA is perfect for project tracking & resource allocation. The utilization of each resource is tracked individually to the assigned projects, which is approved by the Project Manager every week to avoid false entries. Each resource's leaves can also be tracked here, though there is no feature to request leave or attendance.

Projector PSA is well suited for project tracking & resource utilization. Each resource's utilization is tracked individually under the relevant projects, which has to be approved by the Project Manager to avoid wrong entries. The days that the resource has been on leave can also be tracked here, though there is no feature to request for leave or attendance.

Projector PSA has the ability to open and close past periods which can be useful at time. One way in which it's less appropriate is if you change the expense type or task type, it will affect invoice time and material. In other words, there is no hard close, one must be very careful when modifying dimensions.

Projector PSA is a key business tool in my Professional Services (IT Consulting - design and deployment of infrastructure related IT solutions). It is strong in the areas of resource management - utilization/availability, billable/non-billable time, task management, expense management, actual and forecast revenue and project profitability. It allows for the management of multiple resource types (levels) across multiple (concurrent) projects, being sold at different rates.

Projector PSA has extensive reporting available and this has recently been further enhanced by the introduction of an advanced analytics module which provides for even more flexibility in how data is presented. There are a wide variety of invoicing options available and these cover standard templates for T&M and Fixed Price engagements with summary level or resource by resource, task by task level detail available.

I do not use Projector PSA for Project Management. Although it has functionality in this area we continue to use MS Project and when required input data into Projector.

Projector PSA handles rate cards and project based rates very well for organizations with flexible rate structures. Organizations with multiple business units and locations can benefit from the ability to account to time and billing across different units.The organization using projector should be large enough to support the identification of one or more power users in order to take advantage of the depth of the product.

We think Projector PSA is a great tool to track and manage people in a professional service environment like management consulting. This system is easy to set up, easy to understand and should easily suit the needs of smaller and medium sized firms.

It may be less appropriate for firms that rely very heavily on project management through another system (like MS Project) or firms that rely very heavily on a sales pipeline tracking system. While still very much possible to use, you would (I believe) have to do some re-keying between systems.

I believe Projector PSA is a very good software for any business looking for a project management/project accounting software. Depending on what your company is looking to get out of it, the questions would vary. In our case, it was important to have a software that would provide good client profitability reporting.

Projector is a great tool for professional services firms looking to be able to project manage, resource, forecast & invoice out of their PSA. While it is certainly more than capable of handling very simple projects and timelines for small project teams, I think that firms with more complex timeline & WBS tracking needs will get the full benefit of using this tool. It is also an excellent tool for revenue forecasting & reporting. The reports module takes a little bit of getting used to, but it is very robust and once you understand how best to utilize it, the data can be manipulated almost in every way possible. The main thing to keep in mind though is that to get the most out of the system, you have to put and effort into putting the pertinent information into the system. This may require an internal process overhaul (which could be a very good thing!) and depending on the size of the team and scale of projects, a dedicated person tasked with a lot of the "admin" functions of getting data in. The Projector team is fantastic! They're very knowledgeable, responsive and always open to suggestions for improvement. They were great in helping us get started, never pushed us to get more than what we needed and were very transparent about what may be possible but not worth the investment to do.

Projector PSA is more suited for small departments. I see it more of a web-based project management tool for beginners. There is more than the tool, when it comes to getting the whole department to get used to a web-based project management tool. The environment where the tool is going to be used is very important. The department has to be "ready" to embrace a project management tool. There were more expensive and more sophisticated products in the market when I tested and suggested the signing in with Projector. What I considered, in addition to functionality and cost, was product support and ease of use for the department. So, the scenario where it would be less appropriate would probably be a department bigger than mine, which was about 50 people.
