Postive experience of Projectplace from a relatively new user...

We started using Projectplace to allow multiple users located in different places and time zones to work in a much more collaborative and integrated way than was possible previously. It has eliminated problems such as misunderstanding, by allowing instantaneous, focused discussions, or parallel documents appearing in the same project space. We now use it across most of our internal work, and hope to extend that to external projects in due course.
  • Integrating directly with Microsoft Office platform so that you can carry on using your existing software without change.
  • Providing a logical structure by which you can break down tasks and allocate deadlines and responsibilities.
  • Instantaneous communication so that documents or changes made can be explained, put in context, queried, or pass on for review.
Cons
  • Allocation of cards, tasks, and activities to each other could be smoother/more transparent.
  • The messaging function requires you to either mark all messages as read or go through them one by one. It would help if when you read a message linked to a particular card that you could indicate that you have read all messages on that card.
It is very good at supporting projects where multiple people are working on the same project, whether in overlapping roles or actually on the same document. It really speeds up progress in these circumstances.

ProjectPlace is our official repository for all project documentation that we use/create as we go through our projects. It is very intuitive and doesn't take a genius to operate.
  • I like using the Reports feature and viewing the milestone report
  • Whiteboard and Templates such as the Retrospective and SWOT Analysis
  • Document Storage / Repository is easy to use and able to break down into hierarchy
  • The Kanban boards and Gantt charts are well done and very useful
Cons
  • Better Ad hoc reports
  • Large file transfers are sometimes challenging
  • There is no "undo" button in project plan
Planview is well suited for housing important documents.

We use Projectplace for project management activities for all departments in different countries in English.
  • Comments on documents.
  • Project status.
  • Online support.
Cons
  • Documents re: plugins are very unclear on what to install and why.
  • Different browsers support. Sometimes slow or unpredictable behavior on different browsers'
  • Unusable plan section. Plan is not readable and difficult to use. Should manually create tasks for all activities.
  • Can't see all tasks for one user on different board in one place'
Suited for small simple projects

[It's being used as a] Tool to abandon using emails to manage day to day design communication and act as a document version control repository, and manage tasks through Kanan board cards.
  • Visibility of what we're working on and identify when someone is overloaded.
  • File version control and review management.
  • Communication on a matter is focused in a single place without having to go back and forth between systems.
Cons
  • Software is buggy.
  • Graphical interface is not user-friendly as text is truncated and properties panes are narrow requiring a lot of mouse scrolling.
  • Notification inbox is not as useful as email inbox and not much emphasis by developers to improve.
Managing product design because of schedule task management and file version control and review functionality.

We use Projectplace to track our time and attendance.
  • It's very easy to transfer over your time from week to week.
Cons
  • Their fraction of an hour system is taking some time to get used to. It may not be Projectplace itself, but our previous time clock program used .5 for a half hour, where Projectplace uses :30.
It does a good job of keeping track of my time.
