What is Planview ProjectPlace?

ProjectPlace is the collaborative work management solution from Planview that brings teams together to get work done. Whether a team is down the hall or on the other side of the globe, ProjectPlace aims to provide everything needed to set direction, communicate, execute tasks, track progress, and ultimately achieve goals. A key value proposition is to be one tool designed to work together rather than a collection of point solutions.

The vendor says the the product is built with teams of all size and complexity in mind, from virtual teams of five to entire global enterprises with tens of thousands of active users. ProjectPlace can be started in minutes and scales as new team members join. Since work types vary, ProjectPlace is flexible to fit the job at hand – traditional projects, roadmaps or unstructured work where groups just need to “get stuff done”.

Planview Projectplace is a better platform for project management. It helps in improving on the complex cycle of undertaking arranging and execution for better utilization. It's online and this works on its use permitting admittance to its abilities anyplace whenever. It has hurried the cycle of task execution in our association other than further developing our prosperity rate.

While I am familiar with a lot of other tools available in the market, my recent experience with Planview Projectplace tools was very positive.
Gantt charts and reports are the best features of the tools, as they help you present your work in a more engaging way. It performs very well in Agile environment

Compared to other collaboration tools, Planview Projectplace helps reduce [the amount of] emails and meetings since it allows us to directly collaborate within the tool. It assures visibility across teams, plus document management is very valuable. The review process is simplified and flexible. The only pain point compared to other providers is that the payment of the license is yearly instead of monthly.

Planview Projectplace is a comprehensive project management application compared to its competition. I have used Trello & Basecamp their user interface is a bit easy compared to Projectplace. Also, they offer integration with some relevant applications. Their pricing is also flexible as compared with Planview Projectplace. But, Planview Projectplace's reporting and collaboration features are better than the rest.

Planview Projectplace is a unique software than LP in many ways. Pricing is also a factor. Planview Projectplace is not costly. Planview Projectplae is specific for customers choice and has a vast space of managing plans.

It is easy to access whether you are using a desktop or through mobile app. I like how it is useful in creating ad hoc reports, and helps in adapting to custom processes and controls.

Planview Projectplace gives Jira a very tough competition in terms of its very powerful Kanban feature set. Its tracking individual tasks and workload in one single view is also one up on Jira.

Slack is a wonderful product - I use it daily - but it's better suited for communication between employees in different places. Microsoft Project is a behemoth, the software is has a steep learning curve. Planview Projectplace was easy to jump into, and designed to handle any project you throw at it.

  • Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365)
I would say Planview Projectplace is an easier program to pick up on versus Microsoft 365. To get Microsoft 365 set up on the company's network can be a challenge and having it properly synced with all the other Microsoft applications can be cumbersome. But, when it is set up properly it works very nice and smooth. Planview is more for the simple, get it done software.

We selected Planview Projectplace since while Jira is great for Agile software teams, often there was a barrier to entry for project and program managers who were more interested in higher level task tracking around deliverables, etc. Planview Projectplace had enough features to be useful but not so many that start-up and onboarding of new members was time intensive so it ended up being a good tool for the needs for our project manager and team.

I have used a variety of project management software in the past including more recently Scoro, Celoxis and monday.com. I would say that Planview Projectplace handles a lot of functions better than the other software. Projectplace facilitates better collaboration in workflows through progress tracking and document collaboration. It also emphasizes Gantt charts and Kanban boards to provide different levels of project tracking.

Planview Projectplace and these other project management tools stack up in an honestly very similar way, most offer a similar suite of tools and helpful ways to track and plan all your projects and tasks. I think that Planview Projectplace ultimately has most of the great features you will find in most of its competitors, and I don't think most people will be dissatisfied.

Asana is a simpler system for managing tasks, teams, projects and documents. For our small size, we decided Planview Projectplace was too big a system to use and opted for Asana. If you're a larger organisation this might be a good fit for you with the enterprise level of support and engineering.

teams is too new and quirky in my opinion. oddly enough teams doesn't work with MS-Edge and to use it we had to go Google Chrome as the browser. Now we have a teams app but we have become dependent on Planview Projectplace as our collaboration tool of choice. Many more features than Teams and full support for Agile.

Most of the apps we tried were explicitly marketed for creatives, but some of them did not offer more agency minded features like Kanban boards and request forms which we have grown accustomed to. We eventually selected another solution instead of Projectplace.

Great option when compared to other similar products that are on market. Definitely should be in the top five list of a project management application to test run before making a purchase decision.
