Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

  • We have consolidated several monolithic storage systems into FlashArray, reducing capital costs.
  • We have improved our data protection with snapshots and Active Cluster
  • We have replace a complicated replication process, understood by only one person, with an easier process of replicated snapshots for remote replication.

  • The in-line deduplication and compression help bring this array to a competitive price per effective terabyte.
  • The evergreen upgrades allow for data in place migrations without having to have storage virtualization or hypervisors do the migrations
  • The controllers are expensive, so it may be difficult to justify a new pure vs. adding expansion shelves. Again, adding shelves might not be the right move based on workload.

  • The ROI on Pure Storage FlashArray can be measured in two ways. As far as the financial return based on a comparison to other possible storage array purchases, Pure provides high value and very quick returns on the financial investment. But also, in terms of the return of quality, Pure was extremely easy to implement and the value of the performance gains that we saw in our applications was noticeable and significant.

  • Compression of data processing times of 80%.
  • Reduction in physical space occupied went from 20 racks to 2 units.
  • Automatic update of the solution, with monitored performance.

  • Eliminated storage related downtime, scheduled and unscheduled.
  • Reporting runs much faster.
  • Evergreen eliminated all upgrade related activities. No storage migrations after Pure was introduced.
  • Increased costs for maintenance.

  • Huge positive ROI on all business objectives. It gave us more performance and space that was promised.
  • No more balancing out which apps get more performance or expensive disk than others.
  • So easy to manage, it almost doesn't need to be.

  • Out business projects have accelerated like never before. We have great confidence that the storage system is modular (thereby not making us spend huge amounts of money for each expansion) and that our investment is protected well in the long run due to the very long support life of the products while keeping the maintenance cost filed/flat.
  • Our virtualization environment is now running so much smoother and we reduced almost 20% of compute capacity/resource utilization right after we moved datastores to Pure FlashArray.
  • We moved from 2 hybrid storage systems of half a rack each to 3U with half capacity filled, reduced latency 10-15 times (depending on which application and which storage system the application moved from), reduced purchase costs and maintenance costs by at least 25% compared to alternatives evaluated.
  • As a negative impact, the IT infrastructure team is now dealing with more business projects and is much busier delivering those projects instead of troubleshooting performance issues or attending constant meetings explaining why we can't take on a project or calculating how much investment is needed for infrastructure for a new project.

  • Being public sector we really have no way to measure ROI. Our cost benefit analysis showed that the Evergreen Maintenance program blew any other solution away by keeping our arrays current with the latest technology and by keeping costs predictable.
  • It has removed storage as a pain point for our data center.

  • Not had a single outage caused by the Pure Storage arrays going down. Great controller redundancy even means that the Purity software updates have no impact on live and the support staff always do thorough checks before and after the upgrades.

  • Everything has been positive. When we first got Pure Storage and started testing various workloads on it, the questions from the DBA's and the various application owners were "when can we move production over?" Processes that use to take 2 weeks (e.g. SAP system copies) were reduced by half, saving developer time and provided improved performance in every workload we've moved over to Pure. Some improvements have been significant, others minor, but adding it all up, we're sure that it's made a noticeable impact on the business.
  • With the 100% uptime we've had (from a storage perspective) Pure has provided a significant ROI. One of our previous arrays had a critical fix early in its life and we had to shut down our VMware environment at one of our sites for the vendor to patch the system; we had to shut down hundreds of VM's supporting dozens of business applications affecting various portions of our global environment. Not so with Pure Storage FlashArray.
