I use Qlik Sense Desktop to monitor compliance with expense reporting policies. We use it in the Finance department to provide insight to managers and approvers in Concur as to how their direct reports are following expense policy. We also use the data to identify users who repeatedly violate the expense policy so we can correct behavior.
  • Qlik is easy to set up to do basic visualizations
  • The ability to share via e-mailed reports improves efficiency
  • Support is always available
  • Additional training
  • Industry specific examples
  • Nothing additional
Qlik allows me to quickly process data and tell the story. The visualizations allow me to quickly tell the story and tailor that story to the specific audiences. We use this to identify areas within our expense reporting tool where we need to provide additional training or correct behavior to bring employees in compliance with our expense reporting policies.

We use QlikSense on all of our Purchasing reports and KPI reporting dashboards. Users can see all Purchasing data from one model. At the moment, all departments are using QlikSense platform. We began our QlikSense journey in 2018 and we were one of the first departments that switch to the QlikSense platform.
  • Dashboard KPI reporting.
  • Graphs with multiple dimensions.
  • User friendly.
  • Limitations in color selection on graphs is a pain.
  • Graph dimension label font size can not be adjusted.
  • Nprinting function on QlikSense is impossible to use. It is not user friendly.
If you want to show users rows of data and some dashboards and graphs QlikSense is the tool to be used. Purchasing cost, Payment Terms, [and] Quota track are some good examples.

Qliksense has some limitations when it comes to sending report data to related users with Nprinting function. This function is way too case sensitive where one mistake causes the e-mail not go through and it is very hard to understand errors within this function.

It is used internationally and primarily it is used for data visualization. The main functionality I like to use is to easily apply filters and drill down. I use this platform for advanced analytics and for partner meetings. I am now implementing it to manage our innovation portfolio in terms of general overviews, data driven insights and portfolio management.
  • Drill down.
  • Data visualization.
  • Intuitive for user.
  • Non intuitive for developer.
  • Steep learning curve (developer).
  • Issues loading zip codes for map.
Qlik is a great tool for data visualization and intuitive analytics so I would recommend that to any company or user looking to have a better understanding to the how/why of their data rather than just the what, which the data shows. Easy applied filters to apply this insight across your data sets.

Qlik Sense is being used in the organization in many areas. It addresses the problem of data analytics and visualizations for reporting. It also provides quick views which are essential to business operations and strategic decisions.
  • Data visualizations- clearer than power bi and data studio.
  • Dashboard organization - streams by category and dashboards with different views for different needs.
  • License and sessions monitoring [built-in] - details on who has licenses and last sessions to understand usage and make access decisions.
  • More category tags options to help find particular data in multiple dashboards.
  • Additional collaboration with other systems and tools within office, smart sheets, etc.
  • Sessions and license monitoring built in app consolidation to bring session and license information together for quicker analysis.
From my perspective and experience, [Qlik Sense] has been well suited throughout our business and company environment. It is somewhat intuitive and provides great visualizations.

Our Qlik project started primarily as a tool to make accounting and rental data available for everyone in the organization. Over time, it has evolved to be the main tool for managing our shopping centers. It now includes, for example, foot-fall, parking, sales per tenant, and customer surveys for end customers.
  • Data presentation
  • Easy to use
  • Flexibility
  • Even more functionality.
  • Even quicker system.

Qlik is used across the organization as a data visualization tool. It enables users to focus on analyzing the data and easily view trends and Qlik has made easier it so much easier to do so. As Qlik is easy to use, it isn't daunting for end-users to utilize the tool.
  • Offers a plethora of visualizations that users can choose from depending on their data.
  • Qlik continuous classroom offers extremely helpful training videos.
  • Easy to use and navigate through.
  • Script editor can be quite finicky to use at times and Qlik isn't great at highlighting the issue.
  • A wider array of colors for visualizations would be welcomed.
  • Training is extremely expensive in some areas.
Qlik is extremely useful for visualizations and allows the user to rely less upon Excel. The Qlik continuous classroom videos are extremely helpful if you are unsure about something. The videos are detailed and Qlik offers tools for the user to follow along with the example demonstrated on the screen, in real-time.

We are using Qlik Sense across our research and marketing departments to visualize and organize data.
  • Creating visualizations.
  • Summarizing data.
  • Ease of business user.
  • Programming visualizations needs many hours of training.
  • Inability to use a custom color palette without purchasing a module.
  • Sales people do not emphasize need to learn scripting.
The customer service isn't great, and they didn't tell us how much scripting we'd need to learn - which delayed our implementation and added to the cost.

Qlik Sense has effectively made it simple for us to create automated dashboards. With a few clicks, it is now possible to get numerous views of the same data set. The UI is very user friendly and easy to use. Dynamic customization of the dashboard is the best feature of Qlik Sense.
  • Customisation of tables
  • Dynamic dashboards
  • Easy selection of data to be exported
  • There is a need to add floating comments on the table headers
Very well suited for data that has a lot of headers and there is a need to constantly update the raw data on a regular basis. Qlik Sense has made it easy to track daily performance where our information is updated every day. It also handles and displays changes in existing data sets very well.

It is used for both production and finance analytics and visualization. It utilizes many databases - many are outdated. It has been a perfect replacement for Crystal reports and perfect for bringing data together from a dozen databases. It solves the many deficiencies found in our ERP system and allows us to operate without upgrading our ERP for a little longer.
  • Helps decommission old databases by subsuming the data.
  • Works with a wide variety of different types of DBs.
  • Licensing maintenance can be time consuming.
  • Learning curve is high.
  • Requires more time from IT staff than expected.
It is very well suited for a conglomerate of databases with various vintages.
It is not well suited for end users who are not technically savvy.
It is well suited to replace Crystal reports.

Used across the whole organisation. Addresses many issues from productivity to just volume analysis. Being able to breakdown down by Ethnicity is key to the hospital overall view. e.g Can easily show Management the Utilisation of Hospital Theatres, broken down by specialty to the day/month/year.
  • Slices and dices data through filtering to show outliers which may or may not be data anomalies.
  • Exporting data cohort to excel to analyse data further.
  • Fabulous ability to debug code through a number of ways. There is not one error that I haven't been able to narrow down to specifically where the issue lies when creating a new application.
  • Sometimes the search function does not pick up all occurrences of the word entered.
  • I have tried to narrow down when this happens and think it would clear itself if you shut down and come back in. Can be annoying.
  • Need to design your script such that it beaks down sections in Apps to Steps within the build. Sometimes can take 30+ mins to re-run a step so Important to script such that you can work on something else within the App whilst re-loading.
  • Would like to see something in the front end if possible to highlight the places where a measurement is used to ensure changing is is not going to break any part of App.
I have created the Theatre Utilisation App to analyse and identify Utilisation of each of the Theatre Rooms over any time period required. It has allowed the Theatre Admin Staff member to export excel sheets/graphic displays to Theatre Senior Management to highlight areas of concern/schedule more cases for some specialties who under-utilise sessions etc. It has reduced my workload considerably from creating numerous reports a week to provide Theatre with the data they need, as they now have all on hand. It has allowed us over time once confidence was gained in the App to remove a weekly meeting involving several senior managers.
The App cannot be used for Operational reporting where real time data is required.

Qlik Sense is truly a very great tool every organization must have. It simplifies the day-to-day reporting tasks of technical staff at any company. The management is very happy and it is very easy to view reports on the fly. Qlik Sense honestly makes sense of the big data. Organizations and companies are happy to have one centralized reporting tool for all their internal and external applications, services, and support businesses.

It adds great value on ROI and is highly recommended to all types of companies from small to midsize to enterprise and organizations. As a senior ITSM engineer, I am happy that my reporting tasks have been minimized effectively. Management is happy to extract reports on their own; the dependency of systems or application admin is minimized for reporting tasks.

I love this beautiful tool is doing a great work and the reports are highly dynamic and automated.

  • Reports are highly dynamic and automated
  • Administrative efforts to extract report across different applications and platforms are minimized
  • Qlik Sense is amazing tool for all types of reporting

It's been used by multiple departments as it enables a variety of visualizations for dashboards since it supports free extensions. Dashboards provide a bird's eye view of the performance of different departments and the company's application utilization. Users have their filter selected saved/cached, thereby enabling a better user experience. Qlik supports complex calculations on the fly although it takes a toll on performance.
  • Associative engine for data modeling for linking fields.
  • Set analysis.
  • Variety of visuals and extensions.
  • Performance
  • Setting data alerts from dashboards
  • Ease in setting up application
Qlik sense is well-suited for data analytics teams, data scientists who need complex calculations, and people who can wait for those calculations to run. For end-users in management and customers, I would expect light dashboards that use aggregated information.

Purchased to use as an ad-hoc reporting tool for C-Suite executive staff. We were paying for an analytical tool to give us insight into our volumes as well as our competitors within our locale. Microsoft's reporting tool did not provide a dynamic tool for these analytics, so we felt we could leverage the representation of this data with Qlik.
  • Dynamic rendering on filters.
  • Poor query performance/latency issues.
  • Automated refresh of the dataset.
The ease of dynamic filtering for end-users is great. However, the design and implementation were lacking. We engaged a reseller to stand up a typical query and did not find that exercise to be a benefit. Perhaps this was due to a hardware/software configuration or minimum spec issue. The implementation did not go well, and I still find myself falling back to SQL queries to produce reports in an efficient manner.

We are using Qlik [Sense] for quite a while, mainly to analyze data from multiple sources with focus on presenting the main indicators to the business users and also to the management. Also we are using Qlik [Sense] to discover hidden patterns within our claims data, patterns that can lead to fraud prevention. It is our main dashboard tool and we are very pleased about how fast it was received by the people involved in monitoring the KPIs and the ones which are dedicated to prepare regular reports for different authorities and needs.
  • Data preparation
  • Data presentation
  • Easy and fast chart design
  • Fast to learn
  • Intuitive interface
  • Storyboards can be improved to include more predefined shapes
  • I would like to have the possibility to export the storborads in ppt format
  • Web api connectors
If you are using spreadsheets to present regularly report or if you need more flexibility to join related data from multiple sources, then Qlik [Sense] is the tool you need. It also implements some AI models which can rapidly give you insights about trends and patterns. If, you have on the other hand very dirty data or data that needs to be extracted from PDF documents then you need to consider other preparation tools before serving the data to Qlik [Sense].

Qlik Sense was first used in phases in a few departments. After a successful usability and good feedback from the users, it was expanded to more and more departments. Now, it is used across the whole organization. View and analysis depending on the area. It has given clarity and easy to access to the company resources.
  • View.

  • Complexity.
  • Usage.
In our case, we have found [it] very useful in the majority of scenarios because our users can have projections, forecasting, analysis, workflow management and tracking. However, there are scenarios where we would like to use through an API or when there is a need for alerting.

It is used across the organization by our Data team. Qlik Sense supports a range of use cases, including centrally deployed guided analytics apps and dashboards, custom and embedded analytics, and self-service visualization, all within a scalable, governed framework.
  • Centrally deployed guided analytics apps and dashboards.
  • Custom and embedded analytics.
  • We like the enhancements that Qlik has done over the years starting from QlikView to Qlik Sense to QlikInsights. Our users have embraced the use of Reports and Dashboards that we have been able to provide with Qlik.
  • We have been using Qlik Sense for the last four years encompassing the whole Qlik suite. Going forward, we would like to see more advanced analytic offering from Qlik and also the ability to customize the tools that would fit our needs (e.g., Streams, Substreams, etc.)
Qlik Sense is well suited for creating Reports and Dashboards for analytical needs with good interface and graphical support. However, Qlik Sense is not very well suited for real time analytics and reporting.

Qlik Sense gave me easy, fast, reliable, safe and convenient access to our large data warehouse. We currently use it to audit our data and check for anomalies or missing information. We also use it to create graphic reports for our clients, this has put us ahead of our competitors and we are looking to optimise this further. Future plans would be to implement it within other areas of our business to help our managers have an easy one page view of how their team is performing, inclusive of call times etc.
  • It is extremely fast, data that used to crash my computer when working in Excel is now at my fingertips in a second!
  • It is extremely intuitive to use and user friendly. I self-taught how to use Qlik and have gone on to teach colleagues all of whom have picked it up extremely quickly - some of which have no data background at all.
  • It's suggestions are brilliant, when putting data together it will suggest a table that it believes may be the best way to display that data - and pretty much always, it's right.
  • I love the 'buckets' feature but when we started loading more data into the system, this feature didn't work anymore, the loading times were immense to even get into the page that displayed the bucket creator.
I'd recommend Qlik to any company that deals with data and perhaps hasn't got anyone on the team that is proficient at SQL or Excel. This is a great tool to do the hard lifting for you and really analyse the data from above, rather than getting lost within it.

I'd say the only time it isn't worthwhile is if a company doesn't have a wealth of data, or if the data they deal with it small. Other than that, I think Qlik can be used in so many different ways across a business it's hard to think of a place it wouldn't benefit.

It is used in many departments including mine (accounting and finance). I usually use it to show comparisons between budget and actual purchase amounts. Also, our factory units benefit from the visuals each day, because it is easy to read for everyone. For instance, it is used for production line details.
  • Its online platform is easy to reach.
  • Has nice colors and many options for number formatting.
  • Manipulation is easy if you know which formula to use.
  • Formulas are hard to find sometimes.
  • Exporting the data is nice but it exports as shown, not the whole data.
For comparisons it is the best I think. On a daily or monthly changing data, it is nice to use Qlik Sense because it can refresh anytime I want.

We are using Qlik Sense to provide insight to what is happening with insurance claims. We have 2-4 million claims a day and run reporting in batches every morning.
We also use it as an ETL tool but are attempting to move away from that and get our users to perform their analysis in the apps.
  • Easy for users to understand.
  • Great security.
  • Code gets complicated after much development.
  • Qlik makes you pay for every feature.
  • Expensive.
Qlik Sense is well suited for summary analysis and finding answers quickly. If the data grows beyond 10 million records or so the performance begins to suffer.
If you do not have a good understanding of the data structure then Qlik sense will not help you much.
Their ODAG (On Demand App Generation) feature is great when your data becomes too large.

We are using Qlik Sense in the procurement and supplies department for monitoring of suppliers delivery punctuality. It is linked to our SAP database which would capture the information and date when the item arrives at the receiving end of the warehouse. With that, we can make comparisons in terms of performance between our suppliers. The dashboard is interactive and can be used by several users at the same time which is great.
  • Interactive.
  • User Friendly.
  • Clear.
  • Building dashboard is complicated as new BI eg. PBI is entering the market.
Basically, its a very useful tool for every enterprise to have. The dashboard can be present in every single department and companies with these would enable employees to make faster, wiser, and better business decisions. However, implementation of BPI in companies might be easier in my opinion as most companies are using Microsoft Office and since PBI is part of its ecosystem, employees are more willing to accept.

We are using Qlik Sense cloud solution. It is being used across the whole organization. It mainly use to evaluate primary health care program performance and monitoring purpose. Also the insight is used for department of health reporting as well. IT gather business needs and develop visualization and produce reports/dashboards to business users. Self-service was not used efficiently so all the needs will go through IT.
  • Smart search capability.
  • Self-service.
  • Smart visualization and analytics.
  • Reports and dashboard export capability. There are lot of improvements need to be done this section. It is not possible to export whole dashboard into one pdf or power point without much hassle. Storytelling feature is working well with PowerPoint. Every time we have to adjust it when re publish the dashboard. We have to export page by page for PDF exports.
  • Subscription feature is missing. We want to automate report subscription to users inbox. But this feature is not available. Anyone want to view the dashboards, they have to log in. Managers and higher managements don't like to login to Qlik Sense to get reports. They rather prefer getting reports and dashboards directly to their inbox.
  • Qlik data model: for non technical person, it is difficult to manage Qlik Sense unique data model. Language and scripting is different. Have to learn it separately.
  • Lack of single sign-on capability. Users have to login to Qlik Sense with it is own credentials. This is one of the main drawbacks. We have office 365 login. It would be great If we can login to Qlik Sense with office 365 login so we don't want to remember the login details.
  • Matrix visualization chart is not up to the mark. We can only do very little from the Matrix table. Lot of features could have given here. Cannot customizable well compared to other BI tools such as power BI and Tableau.
Well suited: Small scale reporting where users have good knowledge of BI tools.
Less Appropriate: Large scale reporting where a lot of users don't have basic BI tool knowledge. Where there are a lot of data exports needing to take place. And also users prefer report subscription to their inbox.
