It is being used for tracking inventory turns, forecast analysis, for sales compensation reporting and reconciling, purchasing, tracking phone surveys for customer service, pricing analysis, scheduling metrics, and for executives to get a quick glance at the health of the company. We started slow but now more and more departments are using Qlik Sense and depend on it every day. Departments include AR, Marketing, Finance, Efficiency Reporting, and Manufacturing. We also use the NPrinting extension for emailing daily and monthly reports.
  • I love how you can put files from various mediums together and create a virtual database fast and easily.
  • And I love that once you have your QVDs set up you can use them interchangeably with very predictable results. And it's very easy to debug.
  • Qlik Sense is so user friendly the users are now beginning to create their own sheets the way they want them. And we get more and more requests from the users because now they can easily see what they need or what can help them do their job better. Before Qlik Sense, It was mainly the programmers feeding the user daily reports from Oracle. So they only got updates once a day. Now they get hourly updates on orders and inventory.
  • We had 2 apps get corrupted on us. My colleague probably reported it. it became impossible to use them we had to recreate from scratch.
  • We have had instances where users go into an application and the screen takes a long time to refresh, I'm guessing because of too much data. We do use the data handling to limit what the user can search on but I don't like it much because it looks like a blank screen and confuses the users.
  • I actually don't like the new auto save feature because I have accidentally added code that I didn't mean to.
Well suited for most scenarios because the data is or can be almost real time so I don't get managers running up to me saying "I need a report on how many widgets were sold in Johnson's territory last year." It's also great because everyone is beginning to reply exclusively on Qlik instead of their personal spreadsheets or MS Access database which means that everyone is getting the same information.

I can't come up with any scenarios where it is less appropriate, except that you can't do data entry.

Qlik Sense is being used across the organisation from HR, finance, retail functions to custody and funds services. Dashboards are available not just to internal users but external clients also. Qlik Sense allows us to provide our internal operations teams and external clients with valuable insights in a self-service manner.
  • Users can self-service their visualisation needs within Qlik Sense with ease. No longer are centralized analytics teams the bottleneck on new dashboards/reports.
  • Qlik Sense makes stitching of data together from different sources an absolute breeze. Qlik Sense can be used as a Data Warehouse without any great difficulty. It can become your organisation's single source of truth.
  • Qlik Sense APIs are extremely robust. We have been able to extend the functionality available in the UI and customize the back end to our specific needs. There are very few limits with powerful APIs at your fingertips.
  • Data Lineage is difficult to determine and relies on trailing logs using 3rd-party scripts or pushing from a vendor.
  • Section access (entitlements) is quite efficient, but quite often our products want a finer level of control .e.g applying across multiple different fields, enabling/disabling fields for certain users.
  • I would like to see changes to the Qlik Sense load script to allow better parameterisation of functions, try/catch blocks and other behavior that comes as standard with other languages. User-defined functions should be passed to the QMC for use in all reloads, instead of loading into every script using library files.
  • I would like to see an emphasis on real-time dashboarding capabilities. BDI does not solve all real-time dashboard needs. Provide ability to upsert using partial reload feature etc. We ultimately want to treat in-memory dashboards like a relational database.
Qlik Sense is not appropriate for real-time dashboards. It is fantastic for EOD or dashboards which need to be refreshed every 10-15 minutes. Qlik Sense makes a fantastic Data Warehouse, if that is what your ultimate goal is. If you have the resources, you can extend the out-of-the-box functionality to suit your needs. Unfortunately, if you do not have the resources, you may struggle with the back end of Qlik Sense.

Qlik Sense is used across the whole organization. The major problem relates to streams. We have many departments and the number of streams increases as well.
  • Indexing data
  • Time of reload
  • Quick search
  • Memory size (RAM)
  • Few components (vs QlikView)
Qlik Sense is well suited when we need to show a story, based on a specific set of data. It is very well suited when we have a big set of data.

Qlik Sense is being used by different departments in my organization, mainly by sales, marketing, finance and purchasing teams. It helps to verify sales per account, see trends and create different charts for presentations.
  • Summarizing information
  • Grouping information
  • Ease of access
  • Real-time data
  • Cannot be linked to more data sources
  • More training tutorials
  • More space
Qlik Sense is excellent for creating quick charts and presentations.

Qlik Sense is used at Visy enterprise-wide. It is used in measuring manufacturing, sales and finance KPIs. Some examples are:
Manufacturing - Measure customer claims, run rate
Sales - Used for sales and margin reporting at SKU level
Procurement/Finance - Tracking spending
  • Data modelling is very good. One doesn’t need to explicitly define the joins between different data sets, as Qlik Sense associative model takes care of it.
  • Highly customisable. Using the variable editor allows a user to define simple to complex formulas.
  • Filters do not need to be defined separately. All the dimensions of the data set can be used as filters without any extra steps.
  • Customisation of colors on charts and tables without coding.
  • Include Sparkline charts within tables.
  • Add discussion or commentary feature for improved collaboration.
  • Include what-if scenarios and predictive analytics out of box.
  • Allow planning and forecasting activities where users can enter data.
Qlik Sense is highly customisable application and can be used for a majority of use cases for data analysis, rich visualisation. It doesn’t do planning activities very well. Not the best tool for what-if scenarios.

Qlik Sense is used across the whole organisation for management reporting, also for operational reporting by departments, and is very effective for data exploration. It allows consolidation of data from disparate legacy systems. Excellent performance with large data sets.
  • Allows rapid, intuitive development of dashboards and reports.
  • Has a rich palette of presentation scenarios.
  • Scripting language allows for precise customisation to meet end-user requirements.
  • Integral documentation could be improved.
  • Embedded user help could be better.
  • Stories based on current query data set with the ability to interact would help.
Qlik Sense is excellent for data exploration. List boxes in conjunction with a chart allow for drill down on (for example) outliers in the graph to underlying data in the list boxes. Last time I looked extensions are still not permitted in Qlik Sense Cloud.

Currently Qlik Sense based digital analytics solutions are being used at my company for various persona-specific requirements for real-time on-the-go insights. This is a top-driven initative and most of the reviews across departments are currently happening with Qlik Sense based solutions, even at MD level. It is used across our line of businesses in various functional roles of finance, delivery and HR.

The biggest problem in the enterprise was the cycle time of development for any new requirement for insights, and possibility for the end user to interact with the dashboard to make certain analytical decisions. With Qlik Sense dashboards, we have solved both of the issues. As we already had the central data warehouse, any new analytics requirement now only takes 2-3 weeks instead of a 2-3 month cycle time. The interactive nature of the dashboard makes it more handy during reviews compared with a static dashboard.
  • Good UI for dashboard creation as power user.
  • Tight integration with multiple data sources.
  • Good performance.
  • Easy to comprehend for end user.
  • NLP is an area where it can improve. If user query is in text format, it should be able to comprehend itself instead of the user doing the slicing and dicing himself.
  • Support in India as it is a faster moving tool in the Indian economy. Support is not expanding that fast.
  • Higher analytics integration with open source data analytics platforms.
Where we have data warehouses already established, Qlik Sense deployment works very smoothly. If management is responsive to using analytics and IT tools for their business review, any tool is as good as it is adopted. We have used Qlik Sense for structured data only. For big data problems, it does have some limitations, so better evaluate in more detail before deciding.

Mainly dashboards but we are moving towards predictive analytics.
  • Dashboard creation is easy.
  • Lots of built in KPIs and visualizations.
  • Aggregation of data from various sources.
  • Documentation is lacking especially around more advanced concepts like parameter usage and set operations.
  • The KPI/Visualizations import feature should tell you about compatibility issues at import.
Management dashboards and metrics. Analysis of data through filtering, finding the hidden patterns in why/how the results came to be.

Qlik Sense is used across the whole organization. My team members (BI, analytics) build and publish dashboards and reports used by business owners and management. Analysts build exploratory dashboards used for research and monitoring.
  • Loads data from multiple sources (Postgres DB, web pages, files, Salesforce) to the same dashboard
  • I like the visualizations, colors, etc. (although not all team members agree on this).
  • Alerting - reporting, we use Nprinting and find it very difficult. To this day we have not figure out how to create alerts on KPIs or on data loading failures.
  • Learning to use the tool, specifically functions and script editor is not trivial for most people.
  • Loading times are long! It feels like we wait very long for data to load to a dashboard.
  • We find it hard to find online materials and get information from support representatives.
  • We experienced many errors where our solution was to restart the server - we can't tell why it happens.
To be fair I haven't used any of the competitors so I'm not sure, I know other services are much more expensive.
I think it is ill suited for real-time monitoring or alerting and better suited for research and insights on past data.

We've used Qlik Sense Enterprise across a variety of departments within the organization as stand-alone installations rather than part of an enterprise program. These departmental implementations have typically been used to address business analytical needs such as market risk management, treasury operations, portfolio management, and inventory management.

It's been used as an analytical and reporting platform under full control of the business group/department to allow rapid development and iteration. The relatively small scale of the deployments (20-40 users each) has allowed this approach to work well and provide value. In addition to reporting use cases it has been useful for open-ended analysis.

  • Qlik/Associative Engine - The data processing engine almost always performed extremely well. Many apps were around 50 million records with many fields with some over 100 million. Having this amount of data available to a moderate number of users for parallel, interactive/real-time analysis was quite powerful. Especially, because it was running on relatively inexpensive hardware without any effort expended on tuning or optimization.
  • Built-In ETL - Having the option of connection to many data sources, and manipulating them with the load script proved to be extremely convenient and allowed quick development. There was a learning curve, and the script forced data processing to proceed in a particular way, but having the optionality was valuable. This allowed the development of end-to-end solutions without any back-end infrastructure and in many instances, none was ever needed.
  • Fully Web-Based Development and Administration - Being able to do all development and administration via a web interface was a nice feature as it avoided having to install a desktop client, upload files, etc. Combined with the hub and the ability to copy app and sheets made the whole experience very fluid. In a very large scale deployment access to this would have to be managed carefully, but in our instances we could leave it open.
  • Front-end control - In general Qlik Sense has provided less front-end/user interface control than the late versions of QlikView. Over time Qlik has increased the amount of control available to developers without having to resort to custom objects, but it has been a source of frustration. Every release does improve on this, but it still needs work.
  • Information Density - In our environment, non-retail financial services, the typical need is for high-density reports/displays on desktop. This is one of the reasons Excel is so popular; it allows users to build high-density reports for themselves. It seems as though Qlik Sense was initially designed with tablets in mind, which resulted in a lower density than ideal. This in the process of being remedied with additional front-end control.
  • Version Control - There was no easy way to version control data and application logic. This feature isn't something commonly available in this space, but would be very useful in running and controlling the platform. It's easy to generate many apps and data sets in the development and maintenance process and lose track.
In the departmental deployments where we had full control of the platform, and a moderate number of users interactively analyzing a large volume of data, Qlik Sense always worked extremely well. I personally didn't encounter any situations where it wasn't appropriate.

We did not use NPrinting, but I could see Qlik Sense perhaps not being the ideal solution if all that's needed are static reports. Many of its beneficial features wouldn't be used in that situation.

One aspect of Qlik Sense Enterprise that could make it more or less appropriate to any given situation is that it's a technically sophisticated product that really rewards a highly technical approach. It provides many deployment and usage options that may not be apparent to purchasing managers and pure end-users. You may not be in a situation to be able to fully take advantage of this.

Qlik Sense is being used by our entire organization, at most all levels of the organization. It allows us to generate business insights not attainable through our ERP or CRM systems. It has allowed us to more proactively manage our sales teams and create visibility around activity we couldn't get previously.
  • Data Visualizations
  • Integrating data from multiple data sources
  • Data analysis
  • Requires external support for implementation
  • Much more flexible with in-house talent
Qlik Sense is most effective when used with a data strategy. Without a deep understanding of what you want to look for and manage from an analytics standpoint, it use-case is limited. However, if you know what you want to look for and have an idea of how best to read and interpret data, Qlik Sense is very effective. It's an extremely flexible platform, more so for our organization since we have an internal product champion who can design, develop and deploy dashboards.

We are using Qlik Sense at an Enterprise level. We have created persona-based Dashboards for Sales, Finance, Delivery, Marketing, HR functions. We are showing KPIs as per persona. Before Qlik, users went to different functions and asked for data and created their own Excel sheets based on reports after massaging the data. Now, we have integrated these functions and data is available for all. This helps users not to go to every department to get their data. Manual efforts are removed and we are able to automate the system.
  • Inbuilt ETL capability is exceptional so you don't need to have separate DWH.
  • You can connect with any type of data source if you have a connector .
  • Quick UI will help you to deliver fast.
  • Self Service has the capability but the user should have basic SQL knowledge.
  • Its UI is not good when compared with Tableau.
For an enterprise application, It is well suited as your whole data lies in enterprise DWH and then you can chip your Qlik Sense to deliver reports quickly.

Used as a reporting tool for a few departments. The visualizations are mainly in table format for exporting out for report submission. Also, used as a data analytics tool for Finance to keep track of the organization purchasing, claims, and payments for the purpose of analyzing and detecting possible fraud, etc.
  • Association Engine
  • Great support on Qlik forum
  • New releases every quarter
  • Connector options are great for connecting to different data sources
  • Visualization not as pretty compared to competitors
  • Seems to be getting a lot of patches for bug fixes which may imply lax quality control
Qlik Sense is well suited where users' data is clean and some of the datasets are already being transformed or linked together. It is less appropriate when the data is really raw though Qlik's association engine can help link the dataset together. When the user requires complicated reports with calculations, the user can't really self-service using the data load manager as some of the stuff would have to be scripted at the data load editor level.

I am using Qliksense across the whole organization. We used it to analyze our sales and order profile, operations metrics, and financial health monitoring. It gives us the agility to view our businesses from different perspectives within the click of a button. The information derived from the associated analysis enables us to formulate better strategies to serve our customers better.
  • Beautiful charts
  • Ease of use
  • Associative model
  • Ability to resize the text generated in the charts should be added.
  • Ability to create stories from different apps should be added. Sometimes I want to create stories that combine, for example, my sales apps and my operation apps.
It is less appropriate when I want to differentiate the accessibility of the slides in one app between different users. Now, I have to create a duplicate app to limit the view.

First of all, we use Qlik Sense to visualize real time information about our manufacturing process from our ERP system. We have several real time monitors on our production floor used by floor managers and team leaders to steer teams. Data driven decision making.

Next to this, we use Qlik Sense as a BI tool for business cases, budgeting, and forecasting. We have management dashboards, but also in-depth, drill down dashboards for specific departments.
  • Ease of use. We do not have programmers or data analysts in house, but we have managed to create our own Qlik Sense environment with just a little bit of consultancy support.
  • Frequent, very useful updates with always fresh and trendy stuff that can be used instantly.
  • Speed, connecting with databases, SQL or external sources is a piece of cake. Loading & indexing data is incredibly fast.
  • Pricy analyzer licenses.
  • Lack of local support and consultancy companies nearby (Romania).
In any place or department where any kind of database or system is used, Qlik Sense can be well suited. It's as simple as that. We started by linking some Excel files to Qlik Sense and created dashboards. Generally speaking, I would say that data integrity is important and data cleansing could be necessary, but this is something regardless of Qlik or any other BI tool.

It's being used in a few departments. It provides visual stats in order to boost employee productivity.
  • Shows staff productivity statistics and comparisons.
  • Improves employee performance.
  • Provides simple graphic interface with useful performance information.
  • Only ongoing development and improvement and increase in feature range.
Well suited for up to date performance monitoring. Perhaps less suited to second by second real time display of stats.

Qlik Sense is used by the analyst team to create retail reports. These reports can then be used by the various retail departments and business divisions to plan targets and address exclusion report issues.
  • Easy to drill down.
  • Clean user interface.
  • Easy to set up the different calculations and reports.
  • Low ETL capabilities.
  • Learning curve from Qlik View desktop to Qlik Sense.
  • Not as versatile as Qlik View desktop.
Qlik Sense is best suited for reports, detailed graphs, and drill-down analysis. However, it is less appropriate if the data being used is not clean.

Qlik Sense is being used across all my organization - Finance, HR, PMO, Sales. It is our default reporting tool. We have predefined dashboards build on top of generalized data models which also allow users to do self-service.
  • Full ETL - form Raw Data, through Data Transformation, to Data Models.
  • Super easy to use front end. The associative experience is great. The simple green, white, gray give our users the ability to just get in and start analyzing the data. Almost no user training is needed. The front end is super intuitive.
  • Self Service capabilities are great, easy to use and require minimal training.
  • Qlik Sense still lacks some of the capabilities of QlikView which is a bit frustrating.
  • Qlik Sense has no inbuilt advanced analytics capabilities.
  • Qlik Sense still has a room for improvement around the integration with other Qlik products like NPrinting, Data Catalyst, Attunity. Now, these are all separate products and this makes it a bit difficult to maintain.
Qlik Sense is a great tool for descriptive and diagnostic analytics. It does it all from raw Data to fancy visual reports. Combining data from multiple sources is a great strength. Self-Service is particularly great. There are features like the insights advisor which try to serve more advanced use cases, but in case you'd like to do predictive analysis, correlations, clustering, etc., you need to integrate Qlik with another tool/platform. Integration with R, Python, Data Robot, Databricks.

Whole organization. There is few business problems we have.
  • We have a very big database to analyze and Qlik works very fast!
  • Qlik has a very nice UI and UX and the users love it.
  • In my last project, I found that the Waterfall object with dimension doesn't supported and it was difficult to use the extension for this (validation and future support)
  • It would be great if Qlik will support "show/hide" feature without extensions.
Qlik Sense is well suited to any situation that has a lot of data.

It is being used throughout the organization as a data discovery, data quality, and data visualization tool. Various kinds of charts are being developed based upon individual department needs to present the view of the data they have, how it's enhanced, how data quality is being improved, and the current state of the data which they own.
  • Standard charts
  • Easy to incorporate different data sources
  • Slower performance
  • Data load capacity
  • Visibility of chart (resolution)
If you are starting on the journey of data governance, I would suggest to first get a clear view of your data. Qlik Sense definitely has the capability to provide various views and a variety of charts to represent your data. It can provide you a way to showcase the data quality improvements performed.

Qlik Sense is used in 3 separate departments across the organization. It is typically used when it is required to collect, combine and visualize data from multiple systems.
  • Can import data from a very wide range of sources
  • Very flexible data modelling
  • Scripting is more powerful than point-and-click, drag-and-drop modelling, although it offers both methods
  • Set analysis offers extremely powerful data selection
  • Date handling could be easier
  • N-period accumulation analysis could be improved
  • Scheduled report generation difficult without expensive additional software
Qlik Sense is ideally suited when you need to extract and combine data from multiple sources to create statistics, dashboards and reports. It has very powerful data transformation functions that are fairly easy to learn. It's marketed as "self-service BI", and to a great extent it is. The users can fix their own apps and visualisations without needing to call in a consultant or the IT department specialist.

We use Qlik Sense to analyze financial data and comparison analytics. It is used by all manager levels as well as by other decision-makers all over the municipality.
  • We are able to look through a whole dataset and find surprising insights.
  • Possible to have users of all different skill levels and needs in the same platform with a great ability to adapt the interface for everyone’s need.
  • Gathering data from many different sources to get a more complex view but still having control over data quality.
  • Collaboration in making sheets is one of its strengths. But it needs ways to share sheets with smaller groups to make it easier to use in apps with lots of users.
Qlik Sense is well suited for any situation where data is part of what you want to visualize, find patterns in, or flag in a scenario.

I was using it to automate reporting processes by developing the Qlik Sense dashboards and making these dashboards available to the regional sales management team, enabling the leadership team to have real-time dashboards developed using multiple sources of data. By having access to dashboards, regional sales management team would have access to relevant data at all times. They were looking for interactive visualizations and being able to make better meaningful decisions.
  • Efficient way to connect to multiple sources of data, making it easy to build dashboards.
  • Making dashboards available on all devices and having responsive design.
  • Giving a user the ability to customize dashboards by allowing third-party modules. They can also be customized which gives a developer the option to build dashboards tailored for the organization.
  • I had an issue relating different objects. It would create an infinite loop. Sometimes it was difficult to relate data from different objects because of it.
  • Giving the option to format titles of the dashboards to make it more visually appealing for leadership to look at. Currently, they are not well visible, so I get a lot of requests to customize dashboards because of it.
  • Give the option to choose a dark background for charts. Some of our leaders did not like plain white backgrounds. A lot of customization was required because of the simple request.
  • Please create a waterfall chart functionality. Big need for it.

Well suited for automation of the reports from Salesforce and other sources.

Less suited if users want real-time data in it. We could make 5min updates, but they insisted on real-time. It could not accommodate that request, because it would constantly upload Salesforce and other database data. It was not well optimized for this request.

We are using Qlik Sense across the whole organization. We started with one department and have spread to all departments.

Qlik Sense has allowed us to increase the speed and ease of researching data within the company. We have been able to tie multiple data sources together that we were not able to do with our other software. This has allowed all of the data needed to be presented on one sheet.

  • Qlik Sense is very good at being able to tie data together from multiple data sources so that you can have everything you need in one place.
  • Qlik Sense is very good at displaying the data in a visual format that really draws your attention to it instead of just numbers and columns.
  • Qlik Sense gives you the ability to create apps that allows the users to drill down into the data to really find out answers to their detail questions.
  • Qlik Sense does not have the same capabilities as Qlik View. There are a lot of Qlik View functions that would be very useful in Qlik Sense.
  • Qlik Sense needs additional functions with Pivot Tables. We currently do not have the latest update which is supposed to have Pivot Table improvements.

Qlik Sense is well suited for researching data to see problem areas or trends.

For us, Qlik Sense is not well suited for real-time data visibility because of the data loads.
