I work with hard-to-use databases that produce large sets of data. In order for the data to translate into useful information, I use Qlik Sense to create comprehensive visualizations to give senior leaders and managers the ability to understand their current workforce composition and plan for the future.
  • Color
  • third party apps
  • linking data sets
  • relatively easy for a new user in a low-code environment to adopt
  • need to export images better
  • better Microsoft integrations
  • more options for intuitive app navigation
Great for large data sets, regularly updated data, and survey analysis. don't use it for static data, small data sets, or a one-time report.

We utilize Qlik Sense in all of our business departments: Retail, eCommerce, Wholesale Sales, Supply Chain Management, Resource Planning, Finance, Accounting, and Warehouse. We deploy and support applications that cater to our different departments and brands. Each of our departments has Qlik Sense applications that are curated to their analytical needs.
  • Quick to Insights
  • Flexible in Disparate Data Sources
  • Easy of Development
  • Handling of Images. This became native to Qlik Software in August 21 release.
  • Exporting Images to Excel in Bulk.
  • Some features of QlikView are not compatible in QlikSense: Fast Change for charts, Cyclic fields.
It is great for apparel industries where there may be many different file types and software that need to be consolidated. Eliminates the need for a traditional Data Mart. We have not tested on Big Data (>100 Million), but have noticed some performance issues for our medium-size business. We deployed Qlik Sense on Premise so it may be based on our network limitations.

Across the organization in different departments like IT, Sales, Tech support, Professional services, finance and more.
  • Easy to use: As compared to most of other BI tools we found Qlik to be the most easy to learn. Our users hi from basic user to building advanced apps in very short span.
  • Agile: with the current pace the business world is changing and moving we needed to be very agile. Qlik is very agile to work with.
  • Performance: being in memory tool Qlik sense performance is at par with our business expectations. The data loads are very fast using the native connectors as well
  • Report delivery: Printing is offered as a solution which is not user friendly and needs a lot of improvement.
  • Extensions: need a certified extension process so that we can trust them before bringing into our Qlik environment
  • Way to make a data model using 2 apps. Rather than creating a 3rd app, we should have a way to connect 2 apps
All the analytical needs can be solved by Qlik Sense. Operational reporting on live data is not something Qlick Sense does very well

Our whole company uses Qlik Sense. We are a very data-driven company, and Qlik Sense gives us a great tool to look at data and visualize and analyze data in different ways. An example is Sales where we drill down on Product and Color level to see what Brand and Products perform during each season.
  • Data visualization.
  • Access to aggregated data.
  • Version handling of scripts.
  • Integrations to 3rd party systems in and out.
Qlik Sense is very good when businesses need to get lots of data for various sources and to quickly adjust the data presented. It can also act as an in-time analyzer for quick Proof of concept studies. When we have business teams working in dedicated applications, then it's better to have reporting directing in that application, so users don't need to open a second app(Qlik), instead, they use only 1 app.

Qlik Sense is being used at our organization as a single self-service business intelligence and reporting solution across all our geographical locations worldwide. Users in each department are served with both standard and customized analytical solutions that are published to their individual streams. Ad-hoc reports are churned out using the NPrinting ad-on of Qlik Sense. Our business analytics and reporting team manage the entire multi-server enterprise Qlik Sense environment from a central location.

Most of our business problems were the availability of accurate data and speedy access to standard reports. Qlik Sense has helped achieve these goals.
  • Intuitive and easy to use dashboards.
  • Pixel perfect reports.
  • Scalable analytics.
  • Centralized management of user access.
  • Advanced analytical features require third party extensions.
  • Building own extensions is not easy.
  • Multi-developer environment is not well supported.
  • Version control is missing.
Qlik Sense offers an end-to-end solution that scales well. I would advise any organization whether small or large to give it a try. The delivery of output is browser-based and so is the development. This makes its platform independent as far as users are concerned, and the result is a seamless and scalable solution. Also advantageous is the ability to develop, control, and maintain from the stage of data ingestion up to the front end. To those companies where one is expected to build their own dashboards on the go, Qlik Sense can have a steep learning curve.

Qlik Sense is currently being used in in the elderly care and social services departments. Main uses are for follow up and analysis across a multiple of areas, especially powerful in combining data from various data sources.
  • Powerful functions for combining data from various data sources
  • Very good user interface
  • Great community
  • Independent vendor
  • A better management console
  • Further improvements in big data analysis welcome
It's a very powerful tool for combining and analyzing data from various data sources. The user interface is modern, fast and allow end user to explore for hidden insights. However, even if the development is fast, some features like user collaboration and write back capabilities requires third party extensions (seamlessly integrated into Qlik Sense so user experience is excellent but it does of course incur a little more complex setup and added costs).

It is used across the organization governed by IT. Qlik is a valuable tool that helps business gain insights across various domains from marketing to operations. It is empowering business users to get relevant timely information. Qlik has helped move the organization from legacy reports that would run once a week or month to more timely updates as needed.
  • Associative engine that makes connected data and filtering easy to achieve.
  • Strong enterprise focus and product suite that can expand capabilities to cover the entire data spectrum.
  • Good extensibility via API and community - ability to enhance through third party extensions.
  • The support team and service tier could use improvement.
  • API for exposing raw data is tricky.
If you need to get BI up and running quickly at an enterprise scale then Qlik Sense can get you there. It's great for connecting data from various systems quickly and delivering a solution. It does require Qlik Sense technical team to install, configure, write ETL to build and deliver for the on-prem but you can go the cloud route and eliminate some of the steps. The associative engine makes working with data intuitive and the performance is also decent due to an in-memory database. The native color scheme and UI of Qlik Sense does not pop like some other competing products but it can be customized and you get a better server side infrastructure for enterprise scale. Qlik Sense needs to have data reside on the server for it to deliver a solution - if you have requirements where the data needs to be queried on-demand from an external system for real time reporting, it probably can be achieved but would require some good amount of work.

Qlik supports our organisation being data led and ultimately ensures our patients get the best care. We have a large suite of Qlik apps (both View & Sense) being used across the organisation from our ED dept, Surgical Theatres, OP Clinics, Inpatient Wards all the way to the Board Room, these apps consolidate vast amounts of data but presents it in a visual & easy to understand manner so it's quick for our clinicians to consume and make decisions on. We are also in the process of rolling out Qlik Sense which is more aimed at people wanting to explore their data in more depth than ever before.
  • Quick to learn & easy to use.
  • Automatically renders for the particular device, therefore works great on both desktop and mobile devices.
  • Has Qlik's powerful cognitive engine that helps highlight relationships it data.
  • It's consistent, from its underlying technology, code, standards, Qlik maintains a level of consistency unlike other vendors that frequently chop and change D&A products.
  • Storyboard is sometimes poor a rendering content, particularly 3rd party extensions.
  • Would be good to see the Qlik Value Added products & more extensions available in the Qlik Cloud.
Qlik is great for anyone interested in data, whether that's producing apps or consuming/analysing data. There are occasions where it may still be quicker to do things with spreadsheets but those occasions are reducing as Qlik becomes quicker and easier to use, unfortunately taking away Qlik Sense Desktop (or making it time-limited) will have a detrimental impact on people playing and learning Qlik Sense.

We are one of the biggest telecommunications services providers in Belgium with a total business employee base of around 10K. We are using Qlik Sense for all departments with around 60 Developers and around 700 Consumers to address order-related statistics, purchases, finance, revenue business decision related queries.

One of the examples is, it addresses the entertainment-related statistics on all our service users which helps us in advertisement-related decisions.

  • Qlik Insights: Which lets us to have a basic starting point on how we can start visualizing data.
  • QVD creation: Due to its RAM based data analysis structure with QVDs which helps us in fast data analysis.
  • Extensive Visualization bundle and numerous extensions help in exploring more and more insights in data.
  • Visualization such as charts and graph editing experience could be made a bit easy.
  • Data manager loads too long for just 2 tables.
  • Scripting editor could be more informative when getting issues in data loading.

There are a huge number of scenarios where Qlik Sense is suited, like for faster data retrieval, engine performance, REST API application for remote services, QVD Data Library for storing and reusing data for different applications.

But the scheduling service does not have the emailing service on its own which could be a great asset for Qlik Sense.

Qlik Sense is used internally to provide different departments with views of system data that they need for their role. It addresses issues with systems where reporting is limited or the need to combine different sources of data into one view. We use it primarily to analyse manufacturing and sales data, to analyse trends.
  • Combine multiple sources of data
  • Deal with large datasets in a timely manner
  • Ease of use, it takes a while to get used to Qlik Sense.
  • Being able to print to PDF natively without a third-party app.
Qlik Sense is perfect for combining multiple data sources into one view. It allows a crazy amount of connectors, ODBC, REST, Salesforce, Excel, SAP... so suits most business scenarios. Once you get over the initial hump of learning the system you can create some beautifully crafted views for your users.
If your users aren't very IT savvy you might find issues with them using it. Therefore I'd recommend that you provide a lot of training and make sure adoption is monitored. We've found some users not logging in or forgetting how to use it.

Qlik Sense is being used across the organisation from HR, finance, retail functions to custody and funds services. Dashboards are available not just to internal users but external clients also. Qlik Sense allows us to provide our internal operations teams and external clients with valuable insights in a self-service manner.
  • Users can self-service their visualisation needs within Qlik Sense with ease. No longer are centralized analytics teams the bottleneck on new dashboards/reports.
  • Qlik Sense makes stitching of data together from different sources an absolute breeze. Qlik Sense can be used as a Data Warehouse without any great difficulty. It can become your organisation's single source of truth.
  • Qlik Sense APIs are extremely robust. We have been able to extend the functionality available in the UI and customize the back end to our specific needs. There are very few limits with powerful APIs at your fingertips.
  • Data Lineage is difficult to determine and relies on trailing logs using 3rd-party scripts or pushing from a vendor.
  • Section access (entitlements) is quite efficient, but quite often our products want a finer level of control .e.g applying across multiple different fields, enabling/disabling fields for certain users.
  • I would like to see changes to the Qlik Sense load script to allow better parameterisation of functions, try/catch blocks and other behavior that comes as standard with other languages. User-defined functions should be passed to the QMC for use in all reloads, instead of loading into every script using library files.
  • I would like to see an emphasis on real-time dashboarding capabilities. BDI does not solve all real-time dashboard needs. Provide ability to upsert using partial reload feature etc. We ultimately want to treat in-memory dashboards like a relational database.
Qlik Sense is not appropriate for real-time dashboards. It is fantastic for EOD or dashboards which need to be refreshed every 10-15 minutes. Qlik Sense makes a fantastic Data Warehouse, if that is what your ultimate goal is. If you have the resources, you can extend the out-of-the-box functionality to suit your needs. Unfortunately, if you do not have the resources, you may struggle with the back end of Qlik Sense.

I was using it to automate reporting processes by developing the Qlik Sense dashboards and making these dashboards available to the regional sales management team, enabling the leadership team to have real-time dashboards developed using multiple sources of data. By having access to dashboards, regional sales management team would have access to relevant data at all times. They were looking for interactive visualizations and being able to make better meaningful decisions.
  • Efficient way to connect to multiple sources of data, making it easy to build dashboards.
  • Making dashboards available on all devices and having responsive design.
  • Giving a user the ability to customize dashboards by allowing third-party modules. They can also be customized which gives a developer the option to build dashboards tailored for the organization.
  • I had an issue relating different objects. It would create an infinite loop. Sometimes it was difficult to relate data from different objects because of it.
  • Giving the option to format titles of the dashboards to make it more visually appealing for leadership to look at. Currently, they are not well visible, so I get a lot of requests to customize dashboards because of it.
  • Give the option to choose a dark background for charts. Some of our leaders did not like plain white backgrounds. A lot of customization was required because of the simple request.
  • Please create a waterfall chart functionality. Big need for it.

Well suited for automation of the reports from Salesforce and other sources.

Less suited if users want real-time data in it. We could make 5min updates, but they insisted on real-time. It could not accommodate that request, because it would constantly upload Salesforce and other database data. It was not well optimized for this request.

Management, executives, and sales people primarily use Qlik Sense to make decisions. Managers pull information out and distribute it to their teams while they also use it to analyse their team members' productivity. All users analyze customer performance and track revenue. Accounting uses it to locate transactions quickly and efficiently.
  • Technician productivity reporting - using dashboards to track KPIs and performance metrics like first time fix, billable time spent on jobs and contracts.
  • Equipment analytics - using dashboards and tables to see what types of equipment we work on the most and track what parts are needed the most to keep work trucks properly stocked.
  • Financial statistics and at-a-glance daily reports for managers to post for their branches. This is used heavily by everyone in the company to track monthly performance and rewards to given to those who do well.
  • Field names are case sensitive - I find this to be an unnecessary nuisance.
  • No real date range picker to speak of. There is a third party add on that barely works. Sometimes performance reviews really need a date range instead of selecting whole months or worse - hand selecting 365 dates.
  • Limited to no visual customization. Some of our older users never use Qlik Sense because it is difficult to see.
Qlik Sense is excellent at delivering on-demand information to a wide variety of users. Once I had a good arsenal of apps developed, I didn't have a lot of development that I had to do on a daily basis because with any combination of fancy filtering, most users are able to locate the information they need without too much assistance.

I would like to be able to provide more users with unique logins, but the licensing is very expensive. I also don't like that we have to purchase five tokens every time we want to augment our users. This makes each purchase a huge decision and it takes a long time to consider and build into our budget.

Qlik Sense is being used mainly for sales and inventory monitoring. The main benefit is visualization and being able to drill down to data. Also, the flexibility to customize and edit each component is very important, this way you don't have to rely on a third party to adjust every change you make.
  • Flexibility
  • Easy to understand interface
  • Fast data calculation
  • The user rules and roles are not user-friendly
  • Automatic mail reports would be useful
Qlik Sense is best suited for data analysis and exporting out the data after you analyze it, and for dashboards, but it is less suitable for specific data searching - it is more of a widespread view BI.

It's being utilized across all operations teams at the organization to better understand productivity, plan, and forecast for work. We have a total of 27 end-users and 2 developers. That includes senior management, who utilizes Qlik to get a clean and complete view of work performed in as little or as much detail as is needed.
  • Viewing aggregated performance data at whichever levels are needed.
  • Aggregating data from disparate sources for utilizing 3rd party tools and application data.
  • Agile, what-if reporting for all users, at every level.
  • Visualizations are very limited, and while an open infrastructure is great and allows for better opportunities to use new visualizations, the quality varies greatly and creators don't tend to support free tools for very long.
Qlik has been incredibly agile and capable for our entire company. We've engaged with recruiting to bring in data from their pre-interview screenings and tests, included performance data for employees who are hired, and gathered full profiles from our TEM in order to determine where we were finding our best candidates, develop KPIs, and build a framework for rebuilding our company's go-to-market strategy for recruiting. The ability to determine whether it was successful or not was a huge win for Qlik; the recruiting efforts have yielded better results, partly due to what they were able to learn about their talent pool. Qlik was a huge part of that effort.

All employees throughout our organization use Qlik Sense as the primary tool to analyze and improve the performance of our online advertising products and to follow company KPIs. It has certainly changed the way we can react to things and made the company more data-driven.
  • Qlik's associative data engine (based on a proprietary in-memory database) makes the slicing and dicing of data very easy.
  • Self-service aspect: it's easy for the end-users to create their own variations of existing sheets to better suit their needs.
  • Easy to use: end-users learn how to use it in a short time.
  • Inflexible licensing model. For example, if you purchase per-user enterprise licenses for your users (which are expensive), you cannot decrease the amount of them later.
  • Doesn't work that well if data sets cannot fit into memory.
  • Query language (especially 'set analysis' functions) is quite complex and unlike most programming languages.
  • Some calculations are difficult to implement with Qlik.
  • Many third party visualization (available in "Branch") are of low quality.
Qlik Sense suits very well for use cases where the associative data model shines, i.e. finding reasons through quickly slicing and dicing through the data. It's also very easy to use from the end-user perspective and that's why many business users love it. For complex ad-hoc analysis and more flexibility, data scientists may want to use other tools to complement it.

Qlik Sense is used across the broader WBA company. I was involved in the implementation and subsequent use in our New York office. The use case was to consolidate information from our third party distributor and internal finance solution (SAP) to enable a balanced scorecard for the management team and more detailed analysis for finance, supply and commercial functions. The first phase of the project utilised QlikView. Subsequent phases migrated to Qlik Sense.
  • Qlik Sense is very easy to use - which made it very easy to justify the benefits case and drive adoption as we released subsequent sprints.
  • Qlik Sense addressed the issues we faced to develop a single solution that would work for the office-based community and remote sales force using QlikView.
  • Qlik provided extensive support to help us decide the roadmap for Qlik products in the context of our IT landscape.
  • Qlik integration with SAP was a real bonus.
  • Qlik's associative engine is both a strength and a weakness. For a single solution like the one I describe here, it makes the development process quick without compromising performance. However, when the larger data and analytics strategy was considered for the group (which for such a large company involves handling vast quantities of consumer and operational data) other solutions proved to offer better value for our requirements.
Qlik made it easy for us to identify how best to utilise their products to deliver tangible benefits to our company and customers. In the use case I described, we leveraged the company's existing Qlik infrastructure to quickly build an BI solution that made a step change to the units ability to make informed decisions. The toolset supported the agile approach we chose to employ as we incrementally added data sources and functionality to the solution. I was less well suited to the broader Data and Analytics strategy.

Qlik Sense is used enterprise-wide in our organization. This will serve/help to understand the health of the client, utilization and other operation related areas.
  • Architecture. When it renders the info it brings it from memory. No need to talk to a connected backend every time which will help improve the performance.
  • Interactive analysis where almost anything can be searched from the depths of data through global search and selections which respond quickly.
  • In our CNT dashboard, in addition to dashboard metrics, we have to provide the info to Excel and other formats. Qlik Sense is able to do that. It's one of the cool features Qlik Sense has.
  • From a GUI features point of view, I feel like improvement needed. when we are implementing CNT or Client dashboard, where the business wants some specific sort of GUI features and colors, out of box Qlik Sense doesn't not able to support it. We have to see a third-party app to integrate and meet the requirements.
  • Often in the edit modes of scripts or storytelling, the software hangs and becomes unresponsive. We have to restart from the beginning.
Qlik Sense is well suited in marketing to show numbers. It is a solid rendering system without talking to backend each time. However, more out of box GUI features are needed in Qlik Sense.

Qlik sense enables any user to produce analysis and use it to support decision making. It also enables one to create a presentation/story that integrates such analysis with a presentation story flow. The great strength of Qlik Sense is to be able to explore and discover information, leveraging on Qlik association capability, and ability to integrate data from many silo data sources to give a complete view to information.
  • Associative technology to provide a "complete" discovery and view to information.
  • Support integration from many common enterprise data sources.
  • Bundled story board that integrates presentation and analysis all in one.
  • Provides third party extensions to create more attractive visuals.
  • More bundled attractive visualization objects.
  • Incorporate some form of decision workflow/path-ing capability into the software to enable more organised discovery-path to surfacing relevant analysis as users interact with data/information.
  • Further improve the ease of software use.
Suited for an organisation where users have access to and understand data to support their analysis and decision support. Suitable for users who are keen to explore and discover information. Suited for organisations that have data/IT support function to provide proper data and established data relationship for users to use.

Not suited for an organisation where users are not proactive to data analysis, exploration and/or don't understand data.

Qlik Sense is being used as a visualization tool for product demos. We use fast moving and slow moving data to combine insights and help users visualize it to make business decisions.
  • Data management
  • Matching table attributes
  • Vizualizations
  • Speed of app loading
  • Customizations for basic charts
  • Better support for third party extensions
For simpler visualizations it's a go to tool but not a replacement for complex ones like d3 etc. Support available is minuscule and the community is very divided given the fragmentation that exists.

We were already using Qlik View as our enterprise dashboard solution. When we were looking for a self-service BI solution for our business users, Qlik Sense was chosen as it dovetailed nicely with our current architecture and offered several features that we are looking for.

Qlik Sense is now currently deployed for a pilot set of users across the organisation. Together with the deployment, we also rebuilt our data models, made granular data available, and provided training to our users so that they can help themselves to get answers to questions they have without having to wait for IT to service their requests.

  • Ease of use: Qlik Sense is relatively simple to pick up once users start playing around with it.
  • Works on mobile devices: Unlike Qlik View, Qlik Sense is designed to work with mobile devices.
  • Listening to customer feedback: Qlik Sense seems to be listening to customer feedback and addressing missing features and issues with every release.
  • Fast release cycle: Qlik Sense comes with a fast release cycle - new release every 3-4 months, if an important feature is currently missing, it may be in the next release.
  • Still maturing: Qlik Sense is still a relatively new product and there are missing features. The good thing is the fast release cycles that addresses some of these issues. E.G. Users were not able to upload data files themselves initially but this is now addressed in a later release. The issue now is that the data file that is uploaded sits in the C drive and cannot be reconfigured within Qlik Sense and has to be fixed using a Windows junction which is not ideal.
  • Fast release cycle: The fast release cycle has a negative impact as well. Internal testing efforts to certify everything continues to work is not insignificant.
  • Controls: There are 2 sides to the control issue. There is a lack of ability to control stuff like how much space a user is using. There is on the other hand to much restrictions on users in published apps - they cannot even see the data model, create their own dimensions etc which severely limits the amount of self-service they can do.
  • Map layer support: The current control supports only a single geo-spatial data layer. It would be great if it can support 2 or more - this can be done currently by buying 3rd party products (but support for those products in our area is not good) or building an extension ourselves (but we would rather not be doing that).
Qlik Sense is best suited for purely doing visualizations of the underlying data to get facts and discover insights. For use cases where pre-processing is required, it is best done outside of Qlik Sense and have the generated output loaded into Qlik Sense instead.

We have been using Qlik Sense for just over a year. I work on team with other database administrators and we have begun to develop some nice and excellent dashboards in an incredibly fast and easy way. A lot of the reports can be easily replaced with dashboards which are much faster and convenient to use.
  • Interactive filtering.
  • Data discovery.
  • Usability and intuitiveness.
  • They should make more editable charts.
  • The grid has to be smaller or even editable.
  • Improve the enterprise and tasks.
Is a perfect software if:

  • If you want to get good results (dahboards) in not too much time, if you want to allow the company to make self-bi independently.
  • You can use it on your data warehouse, on a production environment on directly "pyisical data" like (Excel, .csv etc.)
It is not really appropriate to make financial and statistic "sheets" that have data that is too granular.
