The Sales team has utilized QlikView to track and identify hot leads, understand buying patterns, and analyze the sales life cycle.

Moreover, QlikView has been successfully implemented in the education sector at a university, where dashboards were developed for different entities within the institution. By organizing data from different systems that would not communicate with each other, QlikView addressed the issue of having to look in multiple places for similar data. In addition, it has provided granular information about SKUs and sales to enable informed decision-making on promotions in the marketing department.

Furthermore, QlikView has been instrumental in addressing business intelligence needs for customers across various domains such as marketing, finance, selling data, HR management, projects management, financial management, and R&D. The software allows key users within organizations to access highly-interactive analytics applications and dashboards that provide different points of view on the same data. It has also served as an enterprise analytics solution by creating dashboards containing HR, payroll, finance, training, and other data, reducing ad hoc reports and increasing communication and awareness. Moreover, QlikView's ability to visualize data quality management dashboards empowers business users, management, and executives to make decisions based on real-time changes.

Additionally, QlikView has supported ETL processes by ensuring data integrity between disparate product sources while identifying data gaps. Its capabilities extend beyond reporting needs as it generates C-Level reports and day-to-day operations reports, providing valuable insights across multiple levels of management. As a business intelligence tool, it has been successfully utilized to analyze and create reports from large datasets such as NIH clinical trial data, showcasing its ability to handle complex joins and produce clean reports.

Overall, QlikView is lauded for its speed, ease of use, and intuitive dashboards that allow users to navigate their data effectively. We needed business intelligence and interpretation of data that’s simplified and easy for all our users to use. The dashboard design and analysis from our ERP system was easy to use and our end users are happy with the results and operations improvements the product can provide to the institution at a rapid rate. What was accomplished is a powerful business intelligence and data analysis that our institution needed. The provided data models helped make our users job easier to manipulate and utilize giving us better ROI.

Increasing sales and student retention. It is well suited for data exploration and analysis. The other areas include ad hoc on demand reporting and response. It is fantastic for powerful real time data processing usage. It may not be appropriate for institutions looking for a low cost solution with a limited budget.

To visualize mainly financial and commercial sales data in a dashboard environment to provide insights to a wide audience, as well as the ability to drill deeper into the numbers to find specifics with regards to countries, business units or programs. The software is very scalable to add user (groups) and distribute standard dashboards to a wide audience.
  • Dashboard overview
  • Graphs / visualization
  • Make data understandable
  • Provide analytics tools
  • Somewhat dated look and feel
  • Basic visualization options
  • Integration into other apps or user interfaces
QlikView is great for data visualization for non-technical users. With easy graphs and tables you can help end-users analyze financial or sales data. Think of KPI's, insights or trends on a daily, monthly or quarterly basis. It is less appropriate for adding text clarifications, commentary or insights based on the datapoints that are shown on-screen.

I use QlikView to combine data from several disparate spreadsheets to analyze and report our market share with our distributor customers throughout the world. "Distributor Customers" is the primary key among the spreadsheets. Since we have over 100 distributors, it would take me a long time to do this analysis and reporting without loading it into QlikView and creating a chart.
  • aggregating and filtering data from disparate data sources
  • letting users slice and dice data quickly and easily
  • easy to customize formulas and fields to display exactly what you want
  • The user interface could use some refreshing so it looks more modern
  • The reports that you print out could be more attractive
  • Connecting to and retrieving data from Salesforce CRM could be made easier.
I have successfully loaded and analyzed data from html webpages with other data from spreadsheets. QlikView is very easy and intuitive for end users in finance, operations, sales, or marketing to use. I have not encountered any situations where QlikView was not able to handle the amount of data I needed to report/analyze, but if I worked for a Fortune 500 company, I am told that I could run into issues with data volume.

We use QlikView to consolidate data from our ERP system into a single platform that can generate reports, easily extract data, and offer point-and-click functionality. It allows us to analyze our financial and nonfinancial data more effectively and efficiently. We lean on QlikView to manage our data across multiple departments and job functions.
  • Easy to use
  • Consolidated data
  • Useful across all business functions
  • Ease of back-end configuration
  • Adjusting modules on the fly
  • Loading speed
QlikView is a great supplemental tool to an ERP system. It allows you to customize your data without making changes within the ERP system. It is easy to filter, sort, and sift through data on the fly. The learning curve is very minimal and it is straight forward to use.

We use it in our organization in order to have a trend analysis to improve product decisions. QlikView helps our sales team analyze customer interests and dislikes. In this way, we can perfectly understand the profile of each of our clients.
  • Good UI/UX.
  • Reports and analytics.
  • Data visualization.
  • Data export.
  • Local Qlik data generation becomes redundant work.
  • It usually takes an inordinate amount of time to search for export options.
QlikView excels in interface and platform connectivity. We use QlikView with Qlik NPrinting and the results are really good. QlikView has a much higher ETL rate and a higher overall refresh rate.

Qlik is used to design interactive analytics and dashboard. We are dealing with different sources of data and need to grasp useful and valuable insights from it. Dashboards are then used by decision makers or to present current status to C-level stakeholders.
  • Easy set up.
  • User friendly design dashboard.
  • Reporting features.
  • QlikView lacks the more recent drag-and-drop technology, and that makes it slower to work with.
  • Real-time data analysis is sometimes difficult with QlikView.
  • More computationally expensive to use as it requires a larger memory space.
QlikView has an analytical and dynamic Business Intelligence ecosystem.
It allows for complex data analysis, interpretation, and sharing.
QlikView allows self-discovery with lower maintenance and better data security.
It uses in-memory technology which makes comprehension and visualization of data quicker.

QlikView is used widespread, but not every group in the firm uses it currently. But usage is growing constantly, and we have many new use cases on the to-do list, so I anticipate expanded usage to continue.

Our analysts use QlikView to review data in detail, prepare dashboards and reports for their analysis commentary/output, etc. Managers also use QlikView for quick high level review of data.
  • Easy user interface.
  • Self-service available for 'power' users.
  • It is not very difficult to maintain or rollout updates.
  • Some users do not like all features.
  • Enhancement requests do not get adopted quickly.
  • It would be nice to have additional functions available for some of our use cases.
QlikView is a great tool for our needs because it can quickly be configured to meet our user requirements, which are always changing and expanding.

It would be nice to have some additional features and capabilities available in QlikView, but we have been able to come up with some adequate workarounds to date.

We use it across every department for the most real-time view in dashboard reporting. Whether it's sales, production scheduling, IT system status or performance, etc. We also use it for viewing historical order and sales data. It has been critical for gaining insights into the performance of our organization.
  • Data visualizations
  • Data warehousing
  • Integrating with 3P software
  • Steep learning curve.
  • Some dashboard features feel slow.
  • Robust features can feel overwhelming for new users.
I believe it's imperative for any growing organization to have a dynamic business intelligence tool and Qlik is among the top 5 options in my opinion. The robust features and integration capabilities make it a great option for all types of organizations, but when deciding between Qlik and other options, it really comes down to preference and compatibility with existing systems since it is very similar to competitor options like PowerBI.

Our whole organization uses it for different purposes. We measure our staff performance as well as our clients' performance. We also use it to provide reports to our external stakeholders.
  • Allows you to find new relations within the different data-points.
  • Allows you to answer questions in a more intuitive way.
  • It contains a lot of different visualizations.
  • Easy to configure and program data import.
  • Export process to PDF or PowerPoint could work better for bigger documents.
QlikView is very good to present information using different visualizations. It allows you to find new connections or relations in the data.
Integration to other tools like Office could be better.

QlikView is being used across departments and across entities within the whole organization.

It helps represent and simplify by using their tables and charts from hard defining numbers.
  • Visually stunning.
  • Simplified presentation.
  • Tells a story with just a glance.
  • Too much programming to write for beginners.
  • Many functionalities such as bookmarking vs comparison.
  • Doesn't support big data.
QlikView is visually stunning for senior management to tell a story with one glance. However, product seller needs to be honest with QlikView when performance is an issue with big data. Hence, a rating of only 6 is what I can give.

QlikView is being used by our organization to monitor and analyze data for our business processes and allows us to create different tables and views that are worth analyzing. It helps us to manage the manage the business decisions that we make. It is not used by all of our team, only some of it.
  • Charts.
  • Tables.
  • Data analysis.
  • Customer support.
  • Implementation.
For a larger company, this would definitely be a useful tool, but for many smaller companies there may be better tools out there for the money. I feel as if our organization is not getting our money's worth from this platform.

QlikView user review

Score 8 out of 10
Vetted Review

We have many users working with the QlikView app, and export our ERP data to the software to apply filters and research product sales and orders across our global footprint. It can be very challenging to export past data and current trends from most ERP software, and the QV application makes it easy and fruitful in searching for trends and justification data.
  • Trend identification
  • New product tracking
  • Data export
  • Alignment across many divisions
  • Data input clarity
Sales data validations have helped manage our justifications in the past, especially with regard to new product development and new business introduction. It has also been helpful in identifying trends with business impact and direction specific to quarter and monthly sales from ERP data as well as decisions to purchase equipment of staffing based on run rates and product demand.

One thing that can get out of hand is data output - if you aren't careful in your query, you may be overloaded with data dumps and drown in the amount of info you have to filter through. This is a user caution, not a comment on the software itself.

We use this tool across organization. This is the one place where we get latest updated reports in formats we want. This is excellent analytical tool. It can contain very large data sets. Very easy tool, you can customize data as per your need.
  • Excellent visual panels.
  • Store large data gathering in appropriate manner.
  • Helpful for management to make decisions.
  • Due to large data gathering dashboard take time to get loaded.
  • Slow running time.
  • Need to get more digitalized by using modern appearance and object.
I recommend this tool for large and mid organizations where data is key in decision making. This tools helps to understand performances and also shows gray areas where improvements are needed. It can prepare reports in whichever format you want, you can add filters, charts, graphs for data. You can segregate your organization data and keep at one place in more organized way by using this tool.

We implemented QlikView for a customer who needed better BI views of marketing, financial and selling data.
  • Graphic representation of numerical data.
  • Creation from scratch of reports suitable for any occasion.
  • Customer and implementation support.
  • Expensive.
  • Poor performance, the application is RAM and CPU hungry 100% of the time.
QlikView is a good option when higher management levels from a company need self-explanatory data reports, without the need to access databases/SAP bases, run queries and pick the wanted information. You can create reports directly to PDF and PPT formats, or send them directly by e-mail (although this interface is very very clumsy).

QlikView is currently being used by most of the key users within our organization by those who needs to access highly-interactive analytics applications and dashboards in a really simple way. It's filters allow for a very intuitive use of the software, allowing the users different points of view of the same data.
  • Filters on reports are really easy to use.
  • It's easy to create new reports.
  • The cost could be a little high for some companies.
  • The UI is not as simple to manage.
Qlikview's licenses are not cheap, but you get a good value for the price you are paying. In case you have a lot of users accessing the reports and dashboards, it could become a little pricey for the company, but in case you don't have too many users, you'll be OK.

QlikView: Decent BI tool

Score 8 out of 10

QlikView is widely used in a range of reports such as marketing, sales and KPI tracking internally and presentation reports externally. The tool has high-quality graphing options that allow us to provide results to C suite level senior leader team on a daily basis and also generate graphs for analytics.
  • Interactive.
  • Easy to use.
  • Costly.
  • Weak integration.
QlikView is well suited for business analysts who need to provide daily reports but do not have decent knowledge of the current free data science tools such as Python and R, which have much higher learning curve to master. In this case, QlikView provides a comparably easy-to-use alternative.

I am currently looking into QlikView as an alternative to Tableau system that we are using at the moment. Same as Tableau, it is used for the data visualization purpose. That being said, ease of use and security are the two main concerns for us in deciding which tool to use.
  • Owning a data warehouse.
  • Addition of scripting feature.
  • Too many features.
  • Cost a bit too high.
If you need to perform further calculation and analysis during the time that you are using the tool, QlikView is a good option; however, if you need a tool to create your presentation via a storytelling format, QlikView is definitely not the best option. Tools such as tables are better.

Qlik was trialed within our data intelligence group. We examined it against a known dataset with various other toolsets.
  • Pattern visualization.
  • Data transformation.
  • Ease of use.
  • Pricing model.
Good : Creating dashboards for a sanitized dataset. Bad : Importing data from unstructured sources (flat files/streaming data).
Score 7 out of 10

It's used by our BI department to make a determination of data analytics to improve processes in which we can achieve faster wait times. Understanding the time/date/nature of visits. A very holistic approach to make educated decisions.
  • Fast to learn.
  • Interacts with most Database or data sources.
  • Pricing. Adding extra modules could lead to a much higher capital expense than originally budgeted.
  • Integration in other reporting tools or internal intranet web portals is very hard to do. It requires much development work which translates to time/money.
If cost is of the essence then this product can do what you are probably looking for. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles straight out of the box, it does require some development if you don't want the canned reports. It does have some hardware limitations and from the last usage of it, it couldn't support newer hardware memory inclusions.

It is used to make daily operational reports, which measures the progress to achieve the goals. It is also used to report results at C-level. It is used to generate low-performance alerts and to generate evaluations ranking employees. Lastly, it is used to generate reports for data analysis and statistical studies.
  • Easy to use
  • It makes easy to share information
  • It is easy to make reports
  • Better tools for statistical analysis
It was very easy to implement QlikView at my organization. and was very easy to learn how to use it and start doing reports with it. You can make reports very quickly. In all these years, it has never crashed and we haven't lost information. It is a very stable software and you can update your information in real-time for dashboards.

We use this with a few of our projects on the analytics team. We use it for KPI reporting, sales reporting, and marketing reporting.
  • Robust In-Memory Technology: data can be stored in-memory and you can access the reports quickly.
  • Compresses the data to one-tenth of the actual size.
  • Powerful data searching technology.
  • Customer support could be improved a bit.
  • The learning curve is high compared to other BI tools.
Well Suited:
  • If you are well versed with other BI tools, doing complex calculations will be easy. Otherwise, you might need an expert to handle those.
  • If you have a huge dataset and are looking for quick calculations.

Not well suited:
  • If you are a small company, licensing is going to be challenging. Also, you will require the necessary infrastructure to handle this load of the tool.

It is being included as part of our reporting application. This extends to the whole organization.
  • Slick and modern interface with quick design options.
  • Allows for complex BI analysis on your current data sets.
  • Highly customizable.
  • The concept of Base Sheets can be more involved than a typical end-user or executive may want.
  • Easier and more out of the box options would be better.
QlikView is well suited for scalable, enterprise BI reporting while allowing you full control when it comes to creating your graphs, using custom formulas and colors. Specific scenarios include reporting against multiple tables of information while allowing you to quickly and easily sort through the data and change dashboards on the fly. Performance is top notch when using Qlik.

  • Free desktop version
  • Faster

  • Time intensive formatting
Qlikview is good for small and medium businesses which have a low budget and don’t require large server space for a company-wide reporting solution.

QlikView is currently being used by the Finance and Accounting departments. We use it to run analytics, create dashboards, run KPIs, pull data for sales tax filings, and for month-end close reconciliations
  • It is fairly user-friendly for creating new Apps.
  • It has the ability to handle large volumes of data -- over 5000+ lines.
  • The ability to extract the data into excel, pdf files, etc..
  • It is not clear why, when you extract data into Excel, certain columns are shaded a dark grey -- and this changes each time. There appears to be no consistency or reason.
QlikView is another tool similar to Tableau. It is great for connecting to ERP systems, maintaining databases, and creating various reports for analytics. A huge benefit is its ability to refresh data automatically for front end users that are not as hands-on with the data and just need to quickly extract data at any given time.

QlikView is being used as our Enterprise Analytics Solution to create dashboards containing HR, Payroll, Finance, Training, and other data. It has helped to reduce ad hoc reports and increase communication and awareness. It has been utilized for general info and to help target specific problems.
  • Data Visualization
  • Dashboards
  • Data Analysis
  • Report building tool itself is very different than many other BI tools
  • Setting up your layouts/data visualization display could be easier. Reminds me of trying to make adjustments in Visio
As an organization we have been able to deploy many dashboards and have a civilian developer model, where many individuals can contribute to building dashboards with some oversite of a centralized BI team.
