We use Qualtrics for research purposes (surveys, etc.) and also for customer satisfaction, internal communications and satisfaction, and event registrations. We've had interns apply using Qualtrics survey, and various other uses over the years. As a research tool, the surveys are better than other software available and provide the validity and anonymity we need to adhere to our university's institutional review board standards.
  • Survey research
  • Advanced features in survey research (skip and display logic, types of questions, etc.).
  • Ease of use: We've trained many in our department to successfully use it on their own.
  • The collaborate feature can be clunky and sometimes we have to remove access and add a person back in for them to see the survey in their lists
  • We have a contract through our university and more than one person has created their account in the wrong place, causing some administrative headaches as that is fixed so that we can collaborate on surveys with them.
  • I wish it was easier to organize my surveys into folders, there should be a more efficient way to do that.
We use Qualtrics CoreXM for surveys, research projects, and evaluating programs. It's easy to copy questions, duplicate an old survey, add media (photos, video, etc.) and customize your survey to the audience being addressed. The built-in analytics make it easier for anyone administering their own survey to interpret the results, or add visualizations (charts, word cloud) to their survey and create a report.

In my opinion, based on an IT view, Qualtrics CoreXM provide a horrible experience. In my opinion the whole API should not exist. In my opinion, they didn’t understand basic IT concepts like « How to do rest API » or what is the acceptable json format. In my opinion, they don’t respect the json standard. In my experience, you can ask from 2 different places the same data, and the output isn’t structure the same way. The json structure change.
  • Do the business job
  • What is a Rest Api
  • What is json and his format
  • What is a CSV
  • How structure export data
In my opinion, you won’t like if you want to interact with your IT team.

I used Qualtrics to set up some demographic surveys. I used it to determine participant user base and information such as age, gender, years of experience in a certain field, education level, etc.
  • Variety of questions you can ask.
  • Easy to rearrange order of questions.
  • Good tracking of analytics.
  • The margins have some restrictions when adding images.
  • The display of images in surveys can be skewed from preview.
Qualtrics is a good medium for creating surveys and getting analytics back for it. I think it's easy to learn if you are in the business of creating surveys or if it's part of your studies. It can be a little overwhelming for a brand new user who has never created a survey for the first time. So onboarding could be better.

We use Qualtrics CoreXM for a variety of reasons both inside and outside of the organization. But the main purpose is to capture the voice of our customers through satisfaction surveys and other customer engagement studies. We have also used it to gauge customer preference in health plan coverage design via conjoint surveys. This helps us zero in on which coverage features are most important to the greatest number of our customers. We have also use Qualtrics CoreXM to reach out to former customers to better understand why they left us and - more importantly - what we could have done to make them what to stay. This too has been helpful in designing and modifying our insurance product offerings. We have also used it to measure our Net Promoter Score over time. Qualtrics CoreXM is versatile, easy to use, scalable, and robust. Plus the online self-help tools are great, as is the live support team. We have had several licenses for the Qualtrics application for over 10 years now (I think - perhaps longer). It is a great tool that can be used in so many ways - only limited by your imagination.
  • Qualtrics CoreXM is easy to use for quick one-time surveys or for measuring opinions over time
  • It's great for sending/managing RSVPs for meetings or other gatherings or to collect important data like Conflict of Interest declarations.
  • Qualtrics CoreXM's reporting and crosstab functionality is beefy and gets better all of the time. I'm always amazed at how easy it is to generate reports for sharing my survey response data and research.
  • All data analysis applications make analyzing open-ended responses (verbatim) difficult to bucket and find trends. Qualtrics CoreXM is getting much better at this with Text IQ, but it's still hard to analyze text responses.
  • Customization of the look and feel of your survey is fairly limited - it works, but it would be nice to be able to have more design tools to better customize the respondent survey experience. Again, this too is getting better.
  • Sometimes adding contact data in the "directories" function is clunky and very slow.
I think Qualtrics CoreXM can be used in nearly every scenario. It is best suited for internal or external gathering of the voice of the customer through product/service satisfaction surveys, disenrollment surveys, net promoter scores, post-meeting satisfaction surveys, comparison surveys (conjoint studies), etc. It also works well as a knowledge-transfer assessment tool (for tests or quizzes). Also, as a way to capture registrations or RSVPs. It is not as well suited for managing an online community forum that relies on participants to see and react to comments/responses from other members of the online community (like social media). There are other products better suited for that use case.

Qualtrics is being used by my organization to design, analyze, and report on surveys distributed to our customers. We also have made use of Qualtrics multiple times to purchase consumer responses for the sake of market research, where their staff was very helpful in ensuring the responses were high quality.
  • Plethora of question types to make use of
  • Advanced survey logic to handle complicated design asks
  • Built-in report tool to help coworkers stay up to date on responses as they come in
  • Their user interface is a bit complicated, which takes some getting used to at first
  • I sincerely wish there was a handy "undo" function when it comes to editing surveys rather than relying on backup versions, which are sometimes out of date
  • It's easy to choose the # color for text in surveys, but that is unavailable for the report colors
Qualtrics is a great service for survey designs big and small, simple and complicated. You have every tool you need at your disposal to create great looking surveys with advanced logic and more. Qualtrics is also great for purchasing respondents, as they ensure you only get quality responses. Their report tool is also great for sharing with employees that need regular updates on an ongoing survey.

We used Qualitrics to survey students within our academic program. It allowed us to collect data anonymously.
  • Clean user-interface
  • Multiple item structures (e.g. multiple choice, likert, sliding scale, etc.)
  • When reverse coding items, the default settings kept overriding what I was trying to enter, which was very frustrating and time-consuming, I had a lot of difficulties assigning the values I needed.
  • I couldn't figure out a way to copy/paste the values for multiple-choice items. This led to a LOT of extra work.
Qualtrics was well suited for survey administration.

Qualtrics allowed us to characterize customer satisfaction of products efficiently and use that information to improve products to the end customer.
  • Survey distribution
  • Ease of use in creating survey
  • Surveys could be more organized.
  • Ability to make reports (scales on graphs) more customizable for bipolar scales.
Qualtrics is best suited for any environment that requires surveys to be created to assess a product, process, or service that is collecting a large dataset. It would be less suited for small datasets as the cost may outway the features.

Qualtrics allows for the creation of surveys which are then analyzed for trends. Responses are transferred to SPSS, Excel, and other programs in order to further analyze data in order to make decisions in line with feedback from both internal and external stakeholders. Qualtrics allows for employees to edit surveys and edit how the responses are disseminated.
  • User-friendly.
  • Clear presentation of results.
  • Able to export to other programs.
  • Response increase mechanisms.
  • Question validation.
  • How surveys appear on user devices.
Qualtrics is well suited for creating in-house surveys that come across more professional than Google Forms or Survey Monkey. Qualtrics is seen by respondents as the gold standard for survey usage so respondents are more likely to reply and take their time to answer questions with a high degree of fidelity.

We use Qualtrics across the organization in different ways. Our main use of it is customer and market research. We send surveys to our customers and prospects by using the Qualtrics email tool, through an automated Salesforce integration, by posting on social and embedding in our Marketo emails. However, we also use it for internal uses: internal surveys on a project and department effectiveness, employee preferences and to RSVP for events.
  • Easy to use with an intuitive design.
  • Extremely flexible - If you can dream it, you can likely do it.
  • A passionate and friendly community of users always willing to help.
  • The best-in-show for CX thought leadership.
  • XM directory needs more flexibility in how you manage how often to contact panelists.
  • XM directory could have more information on the contact level - When statuses were changed or add and the source.
  • It should be easier to get a 360 view of an individual respondent.
I've implemented Qualtrics three times - at a small business, medium business and large business. All three uses were different but all entirely appropriate. The nice thing is that Qualtrics lets you scale the functionality you need and how much use you expect, even offering a free level. I can't think of a situation in which Qualtrics would not be appropriate.

I work as part of a small-scale business team that provides process audits and recommendations to customers. We utilize Qualtrics for a variety of productivity uses - but primarily deliver client pre-work questionnaires, on-site follow-ups, and post-audit surveys. Qualtrics is one of many survey-based tools that our team has used to better our understanding for client engagements. Our team has enjoyed both the user-friendly interface and the flexibility of the platform to fit our own team standards and templates. Qualtrics offers an extensive array of customization tools while leveraging best-in-class features for the modern business. There are many administrative departments within our organization that utilize Qualtrics for business developmental services. Templates can be saved, copied, and edited by a variety of users in order to maximize efficiencies for completing surveys quickly.
  • There are both personal and shared libraries for individual users and business teams.
  • Extremely intuitive user-interface that familiarizes users with the platform quickly.
  • One can save results to a wide variety of formats (CSV, SPSS, and more) for further data management
  • Our team has encountered some difficulties embedding data into surveys.
  • From my experience, conditional logic could be a bit more streamlined and user-friendly. It encumbers some of our team from creating more complex surveys.
  • Dependent on the amount of data, reporting can sometimes feel a bit clunky.
Qualtrics is extremely well-suited for engaging with the wide user-base of your target platform. As a member of a team that provides on-site visits and 'discovery' engagements, Qualtrics helps our team come prepared for on-site visits. Furthermore, follow-up surveys enable our team to be nimble, ask the right questions, and submit additional surveys after our initial engagement. Qualtrics is a fantastic tool for engaging with both internal and external teams with the goal of understanding employee workflows, perceptions, and areas of growth. One can tailor surveys for a specific need and then share out to the client's preferred medium (desktop or mobile). This means that survey respondents will need to have both access and a small technological proficiency in order to successfully complete surveys - however, this is nearly a basic requirement for most administrative jobs today.

We are using this tool within one department to serve the needs of the entire organization. It provides insight on customer experience, training evaluations, and health outcomes.
  • Flexible. Software is able to do lots of things ... but you have to trick it a lot of the time.
  • Powerful. Software is able to integrate with other tools well.
  • Product isn't always stable. Lots of spinning wheels. Slow at deleting data and downloading raw data. There are major areas of improvement in functionality, like data reports.
  • Non-intuitive. I feel great about Qualtrics now that I've been working with it for two years, but it was a steep learning curve for a lot of features.
  • Easy to make big mistakes. I deleted a group once and it caused chaos on my team for three days while reps figured out whether they could reinstate it.
Great for: organizations that create a lot of different types of surveys and want a flexible tool to do so.
Not great for: Non-tech-savvy users.

We use Qualtrics to survey our riders and employees. It helps us keep all survey contacts in one place and manage the panel.
  • Survey interface is neat and Qualtrics allows complex survey designing.
  • There is always a way, if not straightforward, then a roundabout way of getting things done in Qualtrics. That's what I really like about this interface.
  • Their Customer service is great. One of the best and something to learn from. They tend to change the Account Manager every year, but I've only had good experiences with each one of them. They are very knowledgeable, experienced, and friendly.
  • Need a select-one-answer-per-column question type. There's a roundabout way to do this, but if we implement the roundabout, we cannot make this question a "required" response
  • There should be a way to copy formats (colors, fonts, etc.) from Word. Currently, copying these from Word can cause the survey look and feel to go completely haywire
Well suited for all research functions.

It is being used by the whole organization to conduct surveys for academic research purposes.
  • Qualtrics has excellent customer support that works you through each problem and provides instructions tailored to your survey, such as through customized videos, instead of sending you to a generic help page.
  • Qualtrics' survey flow is not intuitive. To skip to a custom end of survey, you need to skip to the end of a block.
It is well suited to academic research. It is useful, but not necessary for amateur surveys.

AU Campus Recreation uses Qualtrics to survey our members, our student users, and our student employees. It helps us gauge our successes and needs in allowing us to assess our unit and strategic plan goals, as well as in our student learning outcomes. I appreciate the ability to tie in our short and long term goals into surveys which allow for long term data collection. It really is a great service.
  • Qualtrics allows us to create surveys and generate the related reports without having to be survey or data experts.
  • Very user-friendly
  • The support staff is amazing. They take care of issues immediately and are eager to help you succeed.
  • I really can't think of any problems.

We are in a research lab and we use Quadratics to gather demographics and administer surveys in our research project. I don't think everyone in the School of Social Work uses Qualtics but it is very popular at the University of Michigan. Qualtrics addresses problems with incomplete data that you often get on paper surveys. Having an online survey where you can force people to answer before moving on allows for complete responses and therefore complete data.
  • I LOVE the required response feature. It makes sure all of our data is complete.
  • I think Qualtrics is super easy to use and very helpful with demonstrating skip logic.
  • Qualtrics also is SUPER user friendly and the staff on the phone are super helpful when you call and ask questions.
  • One thing that could be improved is more questions/ answers on the help page. I had a specific question pertaining to how to unpublish a survey and couldnt find the response online anywhere so I had to call.
Qualtrics works super well in research because it can again require subject fields to be filled. I cant think of a time where someone wouldn't use Qualtrics unless they aren't doing surveys.

I do all the surveys for the university I work for. We have had Qualtrics available on campus for five years. I am a very heavy user of Qualtrics. I also teach other faculty and staff on campus how to use it by giving a 3-hour workshop each semester. Qualtrics is a great tool for researchers, especially for sending out surveys to large numbers of people. I have sent surveys to our entire campus community a few times, over 5,000 people with no problems. Rarely, I do encounter something that does not go right. The Qualtrics support has always been immediately available to me and they have always been able to help me find a solution. I highly recommend the product.
  • Qualtrics offers a wide range of question formats. This feature allows for uniquely styled questions that keep a students interest.
  • Qualtrics is very useful for sending out surveys on a particular schedule at a good time to not overload our campus IT system. The reminder feature is great in that I can set up all four reminders for the entire survey when I set up the survey.
  • I most value the immediate support when I run into a problem. A problem stops my work in its tracks. It is very important that I get the issue resolved quickly so I can get on with my work.
  • The one feature I have found to be frustrating is the rank order question format. The way it gives the response still means I need to calculate the numbers for each response in order to see which ranked highest. I wish Qualtrics would give this information.
Qualtrics is well suited for surveys that I can send out. The reminder function is great, I appreciate that a survey and all reminders can be programed all at once. That way I don't have to remember if I sent a reminder or not. I know it is taken care of. I have been told it is not so practical for instant surveys, like at a graduation ceremony where it is necessary to get the URL to an audience.

We use Qualtrics 360 to support our corporate clients with online leadership assessments. It facilitates continual feedback on leaders at all levels in their growth across an array of crucial leadership traits.
  • The automated email reminder system for collecting survey responses is their most time-saving feature.
  • The report customization is fairly strong as well. Graphs are not quite as good as Excel/Pivottable, but they are still strong, and coupled with the overall ability to integrate them within a text report that converts easily to PDF is a real difference maker.
  • It is a sophisticated and sometimes complex system. The 24 hour tech support is as crucial of a feature as any other. Without it, small companies could not use this system. With it, small companies can offer a very professional survey system.
  • Online documentation has not kept up with feature updates and interface changes. You must use Tech Support a lot if you are doing anything slightly out of the mainstream.
  • Tech Support often regularly ends calls on you when they don't have the answer with promises to email a solution at a later time. Later can sometimes mean numerous hours or even a day. Sometimes never. This seems to be to keep their call times down. Their TS reps don't have immediate access to Tier 2 support to get immediate answers.
  • Employee Directly maintenance and Subject/Evaluator syncing/linkages are convoluted.
Good use: Corporate survey usage. Anything repetitive. Requires dedicated in-house support to learn, maintain, and administer the system.

Less appropriate: this is an expensive solution per user. Smaller companies could not easily use regularly.

All of our external surveys, and most of our internal surveys, are managed by my department. We use Qualtrics to help understand the needs of our customers and consumers and their attitudes and opinions regarding our performance.
  • Their platform is very straightforward and is easy to use in comparison to other platforms I have used on the market.
  • They have advanced question types, like heat maps, that allow for feedback on packaging, messaging, and wireframes.
  • Their site intercept product is a one and done implementation that helps save costs when a new survey needs to go up.
  • Unclear error messages - it's hard to find, when you have made a mistake in coding, what an error message means.
  • They were built for DIY researchers, if you are looking for help with the heavy lifting, you will need to find a vendor partner.
Qualtrics is well suited for a seasoned researcher, who is comfortable running a program on their own. With their sophisticated branching, it could get overwhelming for a rookie.

As a smaller fish, they are very attentive to our needs and responsive.

It can get difficult trying to find answers in their online help community; however, the chat function is useful.

I am using Qualtrics to create surveys for:
Workshop evaluations
Registration for workshops
Polling for meeting dates and and times
  • The Qualtrics tools allow the user to create surveys with a variety of response formats. Triggers for redirecting respondents to websites, email, additional surveys, etc.provide for clear definition in data collection.
  • Phone support is consistently effective. Their guidance to solutions to issues related to logic or piping language reduce the time and stress of constructing a useful, efficient survey.
  • Video tutorials to accompany the directions in the Help menu would be useful.
Respondents use a Qualtrics survey to register for workshops. The spreadsheet data gives a detailed report of all the data needed for an end of semester report.
I haven't identified a less than positive scenario. Qualtrics is my "go to" survey tools. I used Survey monkey prior to our institution adopting Qualtrics. I find the robust Qualtrics tools and templates of greater use.

Qualtrics is being used cross-functionally to collect quick wins and opportunities for improvement on products/projects/processes we have in place currently. It allows us a visual to realign and rethink what we can be doing better and what we are doing well at.
  • Qualtrics allows you to give visuals to the recipient in many different ways.
  • It allows you to approach a question with another if recipient answers it approving or not.
  • It also allows you to collect data in many different visual formats for the surveyor to present easily.
  • When making a survey I found it hard to allow the recipient to only pick two from a group and instead had to leave the question unforced with particular directions to only pick top two of interest.
  • My features did not include upload file in our package and could not collect data easily from our field with this added feature in place as it was not part of our initial package. I feel a tutorial on new features could be helpful to users if we want to add it our not instead of finding it is not possible while trying to close a project.

Surveys with anonymous outcomes are relevant to get quick fixes to current project needs are most appropriate.

Surveys with no target audience are not appropriate because your answered will be skewed.

Qualtrics is used to conduct customer satisfaction surveys and automate paper work forms to be electronic for research.

Qualtrics solved a lot of problems when it comes to report the results in professional way and break down the reports to separate departments easily.

Qualtrics saved a lot of working hours to do the automation in Excel and the email triggers helped us to have a fast response to our travelers in accurate manner.
  • Create professional surveys.
  • Do deep analysis with the data in a more user-friendly way than, for example, SPSS.
  • More question types for videos.
  • Better API integration with other platforms like Microsoft power BI.

My university has contracted with Qualtrics for surveys. It is used across the campus. I use it for various surveys regarding services, students' opinions, feedback, suggestions and other data. Previously my subordinates have developed the surveys for me. However, both have moved on to other positions in the university and my current staff have never used it (and neither had I until yesterday). I had used a competitor's survey software for years so the learning curve was not steep. I called technical support twice when I could not accomplish particular tasks. Both times the techs were friendly, patient and guided me through the steps required. Overall it was a good experience.

My only complaint is not being able to upload an Excel survey built previously.

Qualtrics is being used as a tool to collect the feedback of our end client/customers regarding the product that we have. It is just our department that is using this tool and it helps us see the customer insights. By this, we can quickly solve the outstanding issue of our customer (if they have any) as the Qualtrics can store customer's data.
  • Easy to build the questionnaire as it has more than 20 question types to choose and easy steps to build survey logic. And if you have any questions, their support team will be there for you and is super helpful. You can just call them and they will help you.
  • It can store the customer's detail/information very well so that you can use it to contact them if ever there's an issue or problem. Or you can choose to have it "Anonymous".
  • You can build the report based on their responses in a real time manner.
  • Vocalize Dashboard - the x and Y axis doesn't have a function to build intervals yet. It is not that crucial but still good to have when you are keen in doing dashboard that requires interval.
  • Ability to Undo your work is also not applicable. Once you have done changes, it will be final which is a bit confusing specially if you are still in "editing" phase. So I suggest to do the changes that you are 100% sure that you are correct or else you will be doing a rework.
It is well suited when you want to know more about your end customer. It is best in gathering data and survey analysis. It can automatically compute the NPS and It is very cool!

I am, personally, using Qualtrics' survey platform to conduct a survey of the relevant stakeholders of my research topic. My organization, the University of Western Australia, subscribes to this software.
  • The survey platform is very user-friendly. The current survey that I am conducting is my first, but it has been easy to use the software.
  • The webinars showing you how to use Qualtrics are very helpful.
  • The look and feel of the survey is professional.
  • Qualtrics has many great features that make it easier to collect and analyze data, including the options for distribution and creating reports.
  • The support team could be quicker - it took 24 hours to get a reply by email.
  • I didn't manage to include multiple, independent text boxes to one question to ease data analysis, such as this very example (three boxes that do not prescribe ranking when answering). I could only see this option for ranking.
  • When changes are made to an email platform, one has to press save for those changes to apply to the email distributed. I missed this and sent out emails without the changes. I.e. perhaps state that somewhere, as I only thought of saving afterward, i.e. before I closed the window, but not before I distributed.
I don't have much experience with Qualtrics, but it's very suitable for conducting a survey for research. It seems to me to have more credibility and professional appeal than for example SurveyMonkey.

Qualtrics is used in a variety of ways in school, depending on which department you are. We use them for dietary surveys, participant programme feedback, post-programme impact surveys to name a few.
  • Stable system
  • Lots of amazing features that are very applicable to our type of use in the university
  • Fantastic support (web, chat, email, phone).
  • Make the default report more intuitive
  • Communication of changes to brand administrators
  • More modern survey templates
It is very well suited to our needs in research and customer experience. As a higher education institution, Qualtrics is an excellent partner.
