Quantrix, a versatile financial modeling tool, has been widely adopted by various organizations and educational institutions for over a decade. At the University of Trento, it has been used as a teaching and research tool in corporate finance, providing valuable insights to students and researchers. Additionally, it has been implemented in other settings such as large construction companies and oil and gas companies for budgeting, project economics, portfolio planning, and business strategy development.

Users have reported that Quantrix efficiently solves a diverse range of problems, including cash flow modeling, liquidity assessment, performance evaluation, portfolio reporting, historical tracking, and credit analysis. It is well-regarded for its ability to provide accurate financial calculations and sales forecasts while offering integrated cash flow, income statement, and balance sheet modeling. Furthermore, Quantrix aids executives in making strategic decisions by analyzing the impact on their organizations. Users also utilize Quantrix for optimizing operational efficiency, resource allocation, and advanced managerial accounting.

Quantrix Qloud serves as a client portal for institutional fixed income accounts, granting access to custom analytics that assist in portfolio management decision-making. By integrating with platforms like Amazon or Shopify, the software allows customers to import data effortlessly for sales analysis. It also provides essential functionalities for forecasting analysis, detailed production planning, financial modeling, and historical comparison.

Overall, Quantrix's use cases span across education, research, corporate finance, budgeting, project economics, sales analysis, strategic decision-making, operational efficiency optimization, and resource allocation. With its wide-ranging capabilities and broad applicability in solving complex business problems requiring model development, Quantrix continues to be a reliable tool for diverse user needs.

Powerful tool for complex financial planning models: Users have found Quantrix to be a powerful tool for building complex financial planning models. Many reviewers have stated that its multidimensional data structure and robust formula language make it easy to create and modify models quickly.

Enhanced data integration through various data sources: Quantrix allows users to import data from various sources, such as text files, other Quantrix models, and external databases. This feature has been praised by several reviewers as it enhances data integration and simplifies the modeling process.

Ability to save snapshots of computed tables in external databases: Reviewers appreciate the ability to save snapshots of computed tables in Quantrix to external databases through DataPush. This functionality helps maintain data integrity and enables further analysis, according to multiple users.

Outdated User Interface: Some users have expressed dissatisfaction with the user interface of Quantrix, describing it as outdated and archaic, giving it a 90's feel. This may give potential users the wrong impression about the capabilities of the software.

Complicated Data Connections: Several reviewers have mentioned that while data connections to Salesforce are impressive in Quantrix, connecting to other data sources can be complicated. Users would like to see a built-in connection to Quickbooks for easier integration.

Expensive Implementation: A number of users have stated that implementing Quantrix across an entire organization can be too expensive, especially for startups. The cost factor has been cited as a barrier for small businesses looking to adopt this software solution.

Overall, I was not part of the ultimate decision to purchase Quantrix. I terms of user-friendliess and robust reporting capabilities I do think Tableau has Quantrix outclassed. That being said, Quantrix does provide more in-depth analyses for our relevant data and provides better modeling for our forecasts out of the box. The accuracy of the tools output is also much better.

Microsoft Excel, Infor, Tagetik, Palantir Quantrix is not ready to use budgeting and planning tool, it is basically data modeling tool. That makes Quantrix different. You yourself or with help of consultant create model according to your specific business needs. You will get cost-effective, tailored solution. It is a modeling tool that allows the easy and quick creation of multiple scenarios, conducting “what-if” analysis to accommodate uncertainty associated with forecasts.

In our setting the typical alternative to Quantrix is represented by traditional bi-dimensional spreadsheet applications. We have no experience with business performance management and business analytics solutions aimed at the corporate market that can be considered another group of alternatives to the Enterprise version of Quantrix.
Vis-à-vis spreadsheets, Quantrix has much better functionalities for designing complex models with a transparent business logic and substantial computational power. Model extension/modification is much much easier and controllable activity. Still Quantrix retains the immediacy and intuitiveness of a spreadsheet application.
The more mature spreadsheet applications, apart from the gentler learning curve, may offer more accessible data analytics functionalities (such as pivot tables) and features for producing charts and reports.

These are traditional spreadsheet-based software packages. Any trouble you have with Excel you have with these, but that is eliminated with Quantrix. Quantrix is an Excel/Access like application, but so much better because of the things I've previously described in this review.

I have used (and I continue to use) Corporate Planning (https://www.corporate-planning.com) for one of our customers.
Quantrix is much more powerful in computing capacity and possibilities offered in modeling.
Corporate Planning is very powerful in aggregating data on a predefined structure, offering the possibility of separating the data import from the model structure.

R and a RDBS is less interactive. Time handling can be difficult. More for statistical purposes.

We use Access and SQL-Server for Data-Handling. RDBS is not multidimensional. Multidimensional databases have a limited function set. Quantrix has both.

Excel is not auditable, unreliable and cannot move well through time. Outdated bottom-up-tool. Not in the same league.

Mathlab is very expensive to run. In another domain, not directly comparable.

Excel..think I beat this one to death already. Great for smaller datasets and simple analytical tasks, but difficult to compare to Quantrix when it comes to complex data modeling efficiently.

Tableau - Have only dabbled with it, and it has a great interface and produces some attractive output for sure...but don't think it has the same calculation library, dimensional relations between data and ability to manipulate underlying matrices. Quantrix has built in a feature to link your data to Tableau so you can now use your Quantrix Data and visualize it in Tableau. Given our use of the Qloud as a client interface, Tableau doesn't make a lot of sense for us (though I wouldn't mind having some of the visualization power it brings to the table).

Quantrix handles financial forecasting far better than Excel because of it's object-oriented nature. It allows you to build very complex formulas without making cell range mistakes.
