As long as the citizen developer is able to comprehend and retain knowledge, QuickBase development is usually relatively simple for new app builders to pick up on it. QuickBase also provides its own university program, which allows app builders to review the product's offerings, get a hands-on feel for what to expect when they begin building out their own applications and provides assessment/quizzes along the way to test your knowledge of the product. Our IT team is always available to help resolve issues and to help build out new applications to help ensure that the table structures make sense, but for the most part our citizen developers 'run the show' for their app. We do conduct reviews of apps either annually, or after significant app enhancements have been made to ensure that best practices are being followed and to help support scalability in the future.

A non-technical citizen developer can create simple to medium complexity applications with some knowledge of their tables, relationships, formulas, and rules. These basic skills can be attained with thousands of videos freely available on YouTube and other platforms. One could also take advantage of their app exchange which contains about 800+ applications so that you don't have to create something from scratch. Many times, however, there are needs to go beyond formulas and rules, and in that case you need to delve into scripting. A citizen developer will struggle in that case. They need knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, jQuery to be able to make their way forward. They also need to be good with jQuery because QuickBase custom pages run into performance issues quite often if scripts are not optimized properly. You could opt to work with their sub-contractors/partners who could with their knowledge build such custom requirements at a low cost or learn the skill and achieve anything and everything with QuickBase.

Quickbase is as easy as can be for non-technical citizen developers like me. The help guides are super easy to understand, and Quickbase University is an incredible product as well. If you understand the logic of how to use Excel, you are already about 75% there when it comes to building applications in Quickbase.

I think most people are able to create apps without much IT help. Although you do need some database knowledge as far as terminology goes, it is easier to use QB than other data base programs. Apps can be created and deleted fairly quickly and easily so that you don't waste time on something that is not going to work.

Quickbase is no code or low code application. With the help of Quickbase non-technical person also can create the application and use that application on daily basis. So here the nontechnical citizen can create the application without any code. We can easily set up the Quikbase application and are ready to go.

New developers might need a little training or help from individuals who have experience developing QB applications. A very simple application can be developed in no time. However, it helps if the developer has a good understanding of relational databases and html programming.

It's not hard for non-IT people to make basic or even complex changes to Quickbase applications. I'd say it was very easy, but the culture in my company tends to ask for help from IT anyway. But we've had employees with very little IT experience who've managed to customize their own apps in very complex and neat ways, so it really all depends on the person.

It is not completely straightforward for a citizen developer with no experience at all to build a fully functional app, but it is not impossible. With the massive amounts of documentation, blogs, community posts, training videos, and other helpful tips and tricks, it is possible to build apps without previous technical experience. With higher-level integrations such as APIs and webhooks, it will be very difficult for someone without experience, but these are not always necessary to build an app.

One can easily create a simple application faster and it required no code for developing the application just with the help of the drag and drop feature we can easily create it. So I think for non-technical "citizen developers" it will be easy to create the application easy and fast.

It is very easy for non-technical users to quickly produce simple applications. However, to design and implement scalable, manageable mission critical applications require the skills of IT professionals especially if any system integration is required. For example, most lay users understand database development from the point of view of a spreadsheet. Normalization and the benefits of relational data is not well understood in this group. User ergonomics is also not normally a strength of many lay users. Creating forms and workflows that are usable by many users in different roles requires some understanding of standard practices and visual norms.

Code pages, javascript, html - not everyone is fluent, regardless of their previous database experience - and these are becoming more frequently used as Quickbase makes more enhancements to the platform. The training opportunities offered are excellent and there are always new things to be explored. We are making efforts to document our system and enable more users to become certified builders

In my opinion, although Quickbase is low-code/no-code I still think the level of aptitude required to make changes to or build an application are high. There are still coding parameters within the system and it was my personal experience that support from one of the Quickbase app developers was the better way to go.

We have not spread "citizen development" out beyond a couple of business-oriented resources. We would not want to promote citizen development across the organization because we would prefer to have them more focused on their current responsibilities. However, the resources that have been driving the application development are not traditional IT personnel. They were business users with a high IT IQ and have easily been able to grasp the low code development discipline.

As a non-technical builder of our Quickbase application. I required a lot of help and research in order to learn the processes needed to build out our application. I had to study HTML outside of Quickbase resources as well as use the provided help videos to figure out how different aspects of the system interact.

The beauty of Quick Base is that you can build applications that match your own skill set. Without any "technical" skills you can customize and implement an application from the library of hundreds of template applications. If you have the expertise to develop applications you can put them to good use as Quick Base allows for you to build the applications as you want them.

I come from an MIS background. I've built databases on several platforms during my career. So for me, it's a little bit easier. But a normal user can get into Quickbase and build basic applications without a highly technical background. Application templates can help folks get started, and it's a pretty visual tool too. Building reports is also pretty easy and intuitive. Automating workflows requires a little more technical ability and learning. Also, structuring a database well is something folks go to school for and isn't something the average human knows inherently how to do. If I'm trying to track basic data on a customer, such as phone, email, company name, first name, last name, etc, those are easy. But when I'm building out a system that can do more for me, with relationships and automated workflows, that's where help is sometimes needed. So you don't have to be a developer to use and build basic solutions. When people approach us for help, it's usually because they've taken it as far as they can take it, and now they need something a little bit more elaborate, more robust, more scalable and sometimes untangling a little bit of the mess they've created. When companies know that their solution is going to be more involved from the beginning, they also reach out for our expertise before starting anything.

Yeah. If you're not familiar with database development, it still makes it an easy way to find out how it's an easy, open question form you. Quick little question mark. How do I make this happen? And it'll bring up community forums, it'll bring up the how to guys that's already there from Quickbase. And if anything, you could just submit a ticket to be able to ask for somebody to actually, for your specific scenario, and somebody will return back to you within the day or if not the very next day. And then kinda the last tough question here. Quickbase is designed to make it easy to maintain existing application.

I think that if you come into it and someone else, perhaps at your agency or your company is already already working with it, that there wouldn't be a problem. It's just when you come into a new position and there's nobody that knows anything about it and you're like, what am I doing? So it's a little, it's a little challenging but.You can go and look at the the university, videos and whatnot, and that should at least give you some kind of jump or jumpstart in work in it, you have all the resources you need.
