Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

When we originally set out to create our human resource management system, we strongly considered developing it on the .NET platform. However, that would mean that we'd have to rely on a small team of experts for not only the initial development, but also future enhancements. This was one of the main factors that impacted our decision. We also looked at similar platforms (such as FileMaker Pro), but selected QuickBase because we felt that it offered the best features. I haven't used those alternate platforms, so I cannot comment on how they compare with QuickBase.

I was comparing QuickBase to standard CRMs. QuickBase has customization creatures that I was seeking to store all my business data in one place and also hopefully build automations to help me run my business better. I am not entirely there yet but it is continually a work in progress.

We were using in-house built spreadsheets that were hard to keep up and use. We were able to use QuickBase to integrate the visual formats of those spreadsheets (customers liked the data presentation) into the database. It allows us to track a piece of equipment from birth to death and have every piece of info available to the customer.

QuickBase is adaptable, easy to use and can scale quickly. With either option for a simple drag and drop solution or a more complex code written for a specific application, QuickBase is clearly the winner here.

Quick Base is designed quite differently to PostgreSQL although its a database. Quick Base is a database with a front end on top. It has its limitations with capacity when compared to PostgreSQL.
But this isn't its primary function.

I used Solcase in the UK and loved it because for each case, there was a history "page" and a "to do" page, which also appeared as a Master ToDo List with everything needing done for every single case, which kept us all on track and no case was dropped. Items were green, till the due date passed, then they were yellow for two further days and then red if late. We tried never to go red! Once you selected something from the ToDo List and did it, it would then appear on the History List. While you were working on it, it was unselectable by anyone else, so duplication of work was eliminated. If you couldn't finish it, you could customize it to say "am in the middle of this - waiting for approval" or "will finish after lunch" or similar so everyone knew what was what with any particular file. We rarely missed a deadline. All our regular deadlines were programmed in, but you could also add manually where necessary. Not sure this would even work for our Canadian firm since we have so many files. I think QB is a better fit for us. But I miss pop-up reminders.

While Salesforce has a much larger market share, I prefer Quick Base when it comes to custom app development. Even with Lighting, many of Salesforce's back-end tools needed to customize forms and processes are not actually low-code and require a pretty good understanding of Ajax and other coding languages. Salesforce is also more expensive per user than Quick Base for comparable plan levels.

Where Salesforce shines over Quick Base is that you can start with an "out of the box" solution like their Salescloud CRM that will work on day 1 and then tweak from there.

QB was more flexible and powerful. Basecamp had a nice GUI and DivvyHQ had some nice features, but they only picked off pieces of the total project management and content application. IN the end, the ability to build two apps (project tracker and content planner) and relate them with a couple of common tables made QB the easy winner.

Quick Base doesn't have the ease of total integration with Oracle database but once the links are established, manipulating and gaining useful insights into the data is so much easier with Quick Base. Oracle solutions inherently work faster with each other but programming is difficult and requires specifically skilled individuals. With Quick Base, non-programmers like myself have the ability to visualize data sets and share with others quickly.

QuickBase is more versatile but less polished. My users really like "pretty" and "fast" user interfaces with live updates, which Google Sheets can provide. Google Sheets is my primary competitor internally vs. QuickBase due to the live updates. QuickBase does not really work well for projects or status pages, in my opinion.

I evaluated only 'Odoo' and our internal custom-made solutions. Quickbase is stronger than Odoo in customizability, and in a few hours you can set up a new project. Our internal customer solutions are not so flexible and are not customizable at all.

We regularly evaluate other alternatives including Power Apps, Zoho, and others but because of the high reliability of our apps over the past 10 years and the new features regularly being added to keep Quick Base up to date, we still think it's the best choice for us and our clients.

We found Teams and Microsoft System Center Service Manager was good for the task but we found they didn't allow the flexibility that Quick Base did. We also found that Quick Base was user-friendly and easier to role out. My previous company spent two years scouting, trying the two programs listed and others but nothing compared to Quick Base. The previous company customized it but with my current company we bought the off-the-shelf version, and we have been just fine with it.
