We are constantly improving our Project Management app. We added a new capability to our portfolio that has specific, different needs from the capabilities already present. It took us about two weeks of planning and then about four weeks of implementation (including testing and documenting) to add new tables, reports and notifications to our app. It was a fun, rewarding experience.

Our QuickBase applications are constantly being updated to better meet our needs. One of Avant's core values is "continuous improvement," and QuickBase is a key part of that strategy--it is very quick and easy to modify functionality and work flows.

Updating is pretty simple especially when you're the original developer. As long and you're aware of your relationships and dependencies, updating comes with ease and Quickbase will even help you with what you should be aware of with warnings and alerts. I've updated on a number of occasions and others have updated my work as well. No issues so far.

For administrator simply "right click" in browser to enter edit mode. New fields can be added and can be moved into the designated order. We can set rules based on selected options. We can add/change users' roles/functions.

I update the apps we have developed all the time, it is an easy process if you understand how it was built or how the application elements work together.

End users are sometimes amazed when they sit and watch me as I help them make a change to something, both for how simple it is and for how fast we can turn a request around. Going through our IT group might take days or weeks for a simple change to make it through the lifecycle.

We tend to use the application that was customized for use. However, at one point I did try a QuickBase application to see if it would work for another department. To my surprise, it was a very simple process of transferring data to be able to use the QuickBase application and we only had to use minor customizing on our end.

I have never done this. After reviewing extensively the existing Quickbase apps I found that none had the complexity to perform the needed functions of my business and its intricacies. I decided that the best path to take would be to build my own app from scratch, which I did and I have no computer or programming experience in my background.

We find that we are constantly updating and adding to the functionality of our Quickbase applications. It allows for an AGILE development methodology, and enables us to develop as the applications are in use. We release new functionality and improvements on a weekly basis.

As stated earlier, we updated the user interface (UI) on our time-tracking system, and due to the configuration of our system, we ran into integration problems, and usability problems initially, but was eventually sorted out. The update to the UI took longer and was more costly than initially expected, but again that was more on our end than an issue with QuickBase.

Just recently updated my approval workflow application to accommodate multiple business units across the organization and to trigger different approval flows based on the different lines of business.

Since our QuickBase solution is home-grown, the updates happened all the time. However, during the course of last two years, we have done some major updates as well. Prior to working on the update, we had consulted a QuickBase expert from the QuickBase website, we spent a good amount of time analyzing where we are, what we are doing and where we want to be. It was an eye-opening experience to have an outsider look at our plan. There were many quirks we learned from this expert as well as many tricks, tips and off the shelf tools. In the end, we developed the update in-house but with some ongoing support from the expert. The end result was a very robust product as well as a strong foundation of design which can be leveraged for few more years with minor updates. This update technically replaced the previous solution 100% including the data structure we used. However, the end user never knew that there was a major overhaul. They were simply happy that they got all the features they were requesting for a while and there was no learning curve.

I did try several times to use a quickbase designed application but they were written with a business stand point. The application I needed was more of a banking scenario, with additions, market changes, fees, and loans, but with special tribal government payout plans that are based upon education. I update my software application formulas once every quarter. It's gotten easier with time and experience.

Since using a CRM is new to this department we are constantly tweaking it and it has become very simple for any member of the team to do. Also, the team is now able to speak the lingo of database technology so they are better able to discuss the functionality they are looking for in technical terms and think through the impact of the change. Updates are easy, they are actually enjoyable as the team gets very excited with being able to personally manage this vital work tool. They don't have to depend on anyone anymore, it's a very empowering feeling for them.
