We've been using QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise along with Xero for our clients. Some of our clients do have their books in Quickbooks so it's faster and easier to provide services with them while we're using the service. Also, this helps them understand the books more since they're familiar with the interface of what they are using.
  • Job Costing (VERY HELPFUL)
  • Support (QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise Support)
  • Vault (Backup)
  • Training Materials for certification and getting to know the product and how to use it!
  • Updates(Bugs Desktop)
  • Support(While it is fairly helpful, sometimes Support provides little or delayed response)
  • Complicated at first
I believe QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise would be more appropriate with having a one company use it only rather than having a lot of different accounting softwares. This way, familiarity and savviness with the product is more focused. Also, QBO would be more inclined to be used with larger companies rather than small ones since it provides a wide variety of features than "basic" accounting softwares have(i.e., Xero). Plus, having the QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise plan is for making a lot of your employees use it.

QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise allows us to create financial reports and track inventory. multiple user interface is very helpful! We also used it for payroll for a long time, until our database got too large and we had to move to a different platform (weekly payroll for 200 employees). The ease of creating and customize reporting has been a great way for us to track and communicate with teams
  • Reporting
  • multi-user
  • import of transactions
  • database stability
  • pricing - inventory & payroll are bundled, and we only use inventory
  • multiple admins would be helpful also
smaller businesses would get the most out of it, tracking customer invoicing/aging, integration with third party portals (bill.com, banking, IIF imports). We'd love to use job costing but our company is too big to delegate this action. serial # and inventory tracking could use some improvement

We use it in a terminal server environment. It is to help with financial and payroll services to our clients who also use the Enterprise version on their end. It creates accountant copy of a company's folder which holds additional details and features than a regular version of QB (QuickBooks) can provide.
  • Provides accountant copy of a company file.
  • Provides different sorts of financial reports.
  • Help with processing payroll for clients.
  • Auto updates that reset all customized SQL server options.
  • Very heavy-ended software that causes occasional delays and latency.
  • Resets accesses and authorizations randomly.
I think it is very heavy-ended software. Bogs down server performance. Causes occasional errors that sometimes cannot be remedied unless we use their 'File Doctor' software. This software first off closes all instances of QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise which is practically impossible to do during business hours, hence, the error either has to stay until after hours for the error to be fixed, or everyone would be required to logoff for the fix. Also, updates make launching the application impossible until they are implemented, causing the same issue as mentioned above.

We use QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise for accounting, payroll, and human resources purposes for two companies. We have three users, but only one that uses regularly as we are a small company. It is a program that we use daily. Being a small company, it's convenient that all of our payroll, tax information, human resources, and accounting information is in one place.
  • Accounting
  • Payroll
  • Tracking
  • Payroll reporting
  • Non subscription based software
  • Ease of use
QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise is good for handling everything in our small environment so that we don't have multiple software and have to double enter information or worry about integrations. However, it is a little pricey and cost could be an issue. We chose a subscription level that doesn't charge based on the number of paychecks, but that could be an issue depending on the size of the company and cash flow.

As an accountant for full service accounting and payroll processing for client companies. I am the owner of the company records and handle all aspects of the accounting and reporting process.
  • Batch entry
  • Bank imports
  • Ability to access and adjust all areas in the system as needed
  • Too many logins for security and validation
  • Batch prevailing wage reporting - all active jobs in a week in one pass instead of one job at a time.
  • Customer support access is a drag - the process is not as slick on this end as it may be for Intuit.
It is more clear, customizable and versatile than QuickBooks Online in addition to not being susceptible to internet outages.

I use QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise for all my accounting needs...the full spectrum. As a non-profit I need to track donations and send year end giving receipts which QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise allows me to do. It also has specialized reports for non-profits which is super helpful. It produces great reports and integrates with 3rd party 1099 software and my third party database software.
  • provides great reports
  • meets specific non-profit company needs
  • integrates with other third part software
  • I would like to see more ways to customize reports and have that process be more user friendly.
  • I would like to see the process of creating year end giving statements be made more user friendly. Since I only do it once a year, I have to figure the process out every year.
When I first started using QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise for my non-profit 7 years ago, there were some struggles, but updates they have made to the product have been great and improved a lot of the functions that were a struggle. It is super helpful for handling specific non-profit needs where the normal QuickBooks, while great, is set up for for-profit businesses. The ability to enter donations and allocate them by classes that I set up is an invaluable tool.

We use QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise to maintain the General Ledger for four companies. These firms are limited in size and hence there is little to no financial evaluation. The firms are mostly tax shelters.
  • Relatively easy to use
  • Easy to set up new companies
  • QB is not oriented enough towards accountants
  • Sometimes challenging to perform accounting functions, e.g., review prior bank reconciliations, find journal entries, debits and credits are not self evident.
QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise is for the non-accounting types. Just a simple General Ledger system that is fairly easy to use. If you truly want an accounting system, this is not it.

We utilize QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise for our daily bookkeeping and financial reporting. This is where we enter in our daily transactions to track income as well as all of our accounts payable transactions. General Journal entries are quick and easy to input and allow for me to allocate every penny to the correct account. This is crucial for budgeting. The same can be said for accounts payable. Everything is well organized and easy to locate and analyze. With the click of a few buttons, I can find any expense with the corresponding invoice. We do not utilize QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise for invoicing due to the nature of our business. All invoicing is handled through our veterinary software. QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise is where we go for all of our budgeting. Because everything is well organized and detailed, you can look at as big or as little of the picture as you want. We utilize the software to locate any areas of concern within the budget. The software can be difficult for new users without training as it is not extremely intuitive. There are numerous tutorials available, however, and once you learn how to navigate it, the software is incredibly easy to use.
  • Detailed organization of financial information
  • Several security measures and double check systems to ensure incorrect entries aren't made. This prevents accidental errors and protects the company from fraud.
  • Ease of overall use
  • Reporting can be as detailed or as general as you prefer. Each report allows you to look at the overall picture or access specific details of each aspect of the company financials.
  • The system is not intuitive. Without training or guidance from another user familiar with the program, it can be difficult to navigate.
  • Remote access requires a third party.
  • Bank Feeds can be finicky when trying to load transactions. There are frequent connection issues and errors.
Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise is great for any small business. It makes book keeping easy, efficient, and accurate. I couldn't imagine trying to manage the books without it. The checks and balances prevent unintentional mistakes or fraud. The security measures that can be put in place can give the owner the peace of mind that they can control access and truly know what is going on with their business at all times. A larger business with multiple users may be better suited for QuickBooks Online. QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise requires a third party for remote access and only permits one user.

It helps us record our company's cash inflows and outflows in a proper auditable format. We use it to move data from one software to another budgeting tool with a lot of ease. I use the QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise's data via an ETL and integrate that into Power BI seamlessly.
  • Recording transactions
  • Keeping customer data
  • Keep donors history
  • UI/UX
  • The application is quite slow
QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise is suited for both non-profits and private companies to keep the company's financial data in check. It helps us keep the data at our reach anytime, any data historical since the implementation of QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise in the firm. We can keep the stock and check due date checks.

We use QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise for customer management, invoices, payments, and expense tracking
  • Easy to use
  • Lots of parameters that can be logged
  • Being able to create custom reports for my needs
  • The invoice management is tough to navigate
  • Two-Factor Authorization should be standard
  • I would like to see some of the filter options more customizable
As a small business employee I think QuickBooks works really well for the needs of a small business.

QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise was used as our accounting software for 25+ years. During that time, we used it for payroll, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable, along with keeping all of our books and finance records. WE have recently switched to the QuickBooks Online because we do not want to host a server any longer.
  • Accounts Payable
  • Accounts Receivable
  • Finance Reporting
  • In my experience, importing Files is tricky and difficult to understand
  • Customer Service - we found it very difficult to find the right human to talk to about any issues or questions you might have
  • Have to host on your own server
I think QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise is well suited for your basic accounting software needs. For us, the integration of an offsite point of sale system deemed glitchy and ultimately a failure. In my experience, the most difficult part is finding the right person who can help you with either the Intuit POS system or the QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise.

We've used QuickBooks many years for managing multiple ecommerce companies, amazon sales, and wholesale sales. We use it to track our inventory which ranges from simple single bottle supplements to complex multi piece builds for large packages of items. There are plenty of connectors to the web platforms available for Shopify, amazon, etc that work great.
  • Reporting
  • Inventory Management
  • Ecommerce Integrations
  • Enterprise could use the same integration/data pulls that QB online offers
  • direct connections to Shopify
  • direct connections to amazon
QuickBooks works great for managing our ecommerce companies. We are hitting a space issue due to the number of transactions we're are now running daily for sales receipts, etc. We use a separate hosting platform to be able to access enterprise from any location for our remote workers and for when we are out but have a secure connection.

I use QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise to run 4 multimillion dollar companies. QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise takes care of all our financial needs with ease of access for bill payments, collections, reports and budgeting. We staff 6 people that before their employment with us had no experience but after a short time have become proficient users because of the ease in applications.
  • Produces critical reports
  • Quick customer info look up
  • Check writing
  • Making administrative changes without having to switch to single user
  • Assigning a number automatically to credit memos
  • Needing supervisor override to make changes
I highly recommend any business to use QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise as it has so many facets to it that a large company or a small company can use it and either use all aspects of it or as little needed. In my experience, QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise is easy to learn which makes it easy for a start up business or a seasoned professional to get what they need in no time.

I can't think of any company that would not be able to use this and love it.

  • Purchase Orders, Quotes, and Sales Orders
  • Payroll
  • It's a great product and from our perspective we can't see any need to improve.
If you run a small to medium sized business Quickbooks is likely to be a good fit for your company. Upon deploying Quickbooks you are given the option to start your company with 1 of approximately 8 different prebuilt company formats making the process much easier.

QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise is the software we use to run the financial operations of our company. With this, we are able to track receivables, payables, project costs, budgets, taxes, payroll, etc. Without it, we would not know how our business is doing. The professionalism that QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise gives us, not only helps us in our internal operations but gives us credibility with banking institutions, bonding agencies and customers that require a full picture of the health of our company. Like many of the external relationships, Quickbooks is a partner to our company's overall well being.
  • Overall accounting
  • Project costs
  • Payroll
  • Taxes
  • Personalize reports
  • Software training
  • Adjustable reports after created
QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise is a great software to use. However, the cost of the software has changed from $499-$599 every 3-4 years to an annual fee of $899 is a bit strangling to a small business. The software has not given an increase in value, only an increase in price. It's a little disappointing since I've been using this software for almost 27 years.

We use this software to record our building management transactions, the software works well with Buildium, the property management software we use. We also use the check printing and bill pay capabilities.

We moved from QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise to Blackbaud Financial Edge for our non-profit needs. (Multi-fund Accounting) - Also better integration with Donor Database and AP Review. Online, multiple user access more streamlined. AP Approval Process. More
  • Bank Reconciliation - Matching - Integration
  • Robust Reporting (Ease of use and creation)
  • It's familiar - I've been using it for years and it "makes sense" to me. The change to Blackbaud has been difficult, cumbersome, slow.
  • AP Approval Process requires separate App. (Not well integrated)
  • Not Online (Cloud-based) Solution
  • Doesn't seem to be evolving along with capabilities of QuickBooks Online (Seems stuck in the past)
Best suited for mid-size companies that need more robust reporting than QuickBooks Online can offer. Better for only a few users (More gets tricky - even with RightNetworks.) Too cumbersome for small companies - QuickBooks Online is a much better solution overall - And seems to be developing well. There are few scenarios that I would recommend QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise - The last recommendation was because the company did not want their information online at all and felt that was more secure on the desktop.

Most definitely the #1 software to take your accounting system from spreadsheets (or paper) to an actual system where you can run reports, keep track of inventory, payroll, purchase orders, etc. Very easy to setup and expand as your needs grow.
  • Invoicing
  • Po's
  • Receiving
  • Easy to search for data
  • More standard reports
Great for small businesses that are looking for a simple solution to manual accounting processes. I do not recommended for large Manufacturing companies as not sure that the bill of material section can handle complex builds.

I manage the accounting for 14 companies and foundations. All payables, receivables and accounting is done through QuickBooks.
QuickBooks makes accounting and audit preparation very simple and straightforward. It is easily customizable for each different company. Cash management is also very easy using the registers and the hundreds of customizable reports generated monthly and annually.
  • Processing payments is easy with memorized transactions and last entered detail
  • Vendor history is easily accessed on demand
  • Customizable reports serve the trustees well
  • Annual audits are quick and easy with everything in one place
  • The software becomes "cranky" more often than I would like. A quick data scan on the server usually helps, but if I am out the staff get pretty stressed.
  • Record Retention is not working with QuickBooks. Should there be legal action requesting records for 20 years ago the records will be there - not advisable.
  • Upgrades are quite time consuming as I have to "touch" every computer using the software.
The accounts payable process is so quick and easy with the remembered last transaction. This also reduces the time needed to figure out the coding from the Chart of Accounts.
Access by multiple staff concurrently reduces frustration of having to wait for access to a company's records and processes.
Staff do not have to have accounting degrees to be able to manage company records because QuickBooks generates the path for each entry that gets the data entered correctly for basic accounting principles and audits.

Used to keep the books for 5 different enterprises.
  • Easy to use - Intuitve
  • Easy to customize
  • Allows multiple users
  • Sometimes the shared database engine gets messed up and the server needs to be restarted - that shouldn't happen
  • Deep reporting and analysis tools are severely lacking
  • Security is not as tight as I would prefer
  • Really wish it would prompt to take credits and discounts when paying bills
It gets the job done and does the basics well while being easy for new users to use. QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise is well-suited for companies that need to have many users working at the same time. If you only have 1 or 2 users, then it is overkill.

We export our daily billing from our proprietary system into QuickBooks for sending out invoices and handling collections as well as financial reporting. Our owner uses QuickBooks for all of our financial reporting and tax preparations. We send out approximately 50 invoices per day.

It would seem to appropriate for small business to keep track of invoicing, collections and providing financial reporting. Utilized in our accounting department as our accounting software to assist with all accounting functions. More specifically, income and expenses, invoicing and accepting payments, creating reports, cash flow, 1099 contractors, running payroll, etc. The only reason we moved to an alternate accounting software is because our company grew so big so fast, with multi facets of business (i.e. multiple subsidiaries) that we needed a software that could handle our work load.
  • Income and expenses
  • Invoicing and accepting payments
  • Running Payroll
  • 1099 Contractors
  • Third party remote access.
  • Costs associated with multiple users.
  • At times, the program would freeze up and we would have to reboot and begin the process over again.
The Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise software has amazing tech support if you ever run into any issues. Great and integrated features. User-friendly software, very easy to use, and no need for training or prior language. Flexible for business daily activities and project management. Quickbooks has the features like Configuration of different Financial Statements, Personalized Invoice formats, and Data/Reports download into Excel. The customer billing and collections process can be customized to meet the user's needs. While great for small to mid sized businesses, this is software is not suited for a multi faceted business such as ours. It just cant handle all of the depth of processes that we require to run our business now.
