The full organization uses QuickBooks Desktop Pro. We use QuickBooks Desktop Pro to cut [Purchase Orders]/Checks/Invoices. Everything we order we must run through QuickBooks Desktop Pro.
  • Associates [can easliy] correct Customer/Supplier
  • Cuts Checks
  • Creates [Puchase Orders]
  • Invoicing
Cons
  • Single Mode vs. Group
  • Quickly & easily tag stuff for associated records
  • Re-runs payroll if needed when an issue arises (we had no taxes taken out 1 time)
Cutting POs/Invoices/Checks for organizations or people already associated [with] the file.

When cutting POs, check[s,] or invoices [is an] one-time-only circumstance.

We use QuickBooks Desktop Pro for Payroll, AP, AR and Tax purposes. It keeps great records and imports/exports nicely. As far as addressing business problems, I am not so sure what those would be. It is all I have ever used. I can't imagine any software being as user-friendly that covers so many business items.
  • Payroll. From big to small companies, it so user friendly and covers it all.
  • Inventory. You can enter manually or upload a report from excel and it tracks and keeps it all in a safe place. It's easy to locate.
  • Taxes. If you use QB as your main software, it is so amazingly easy to calculate and prepare documents for your accountant.
Cons
  • Yikes! I can't really think of any. If I have to complain it would be response time of CSR.
It may not be a great fit in construction/heavy-labor areas of employment. It would work if you wanted to run two software programs (like use QB for payroll and something different for managing jobs and stuff).

I use QuickBooks Pro for my clients who are in need of accounting software for their businesses. I train and support their user issues.
  • QB is fairly user friendly. It can be used as simply as a glorified checkbook to as detailed as they need.
  • It can be adapted to pretty much any entities needs.
Cons
  • I feel the inventory module is cumbersome and difficult for some clients to understand. Also the progress billing.
It is well suited for the client who needs a fairly simple desktop accounting software program.

It is being used for specific customers who can not afford enterprise accounting systems like SAP and CostPoint. It also is used for small to midsize companies with limited accounting skills.
  • End-user experience is exceptional.
  • Intuitive user interface and guides allows for quicker adoption by users.
Cons
  • The desktop version would benefit from less dependency on compute requirements.
  • Mobility for end user review and approvals.
QuickBooks Desktop Pro is exceptional for these scenarios:
  • Small to midsize companies.
  • Moderate to complex accounting requirements.
  • Quick adoption for end-users.

We use QuickBooks Desktop Pro to keep track of our business income and expenses.
  • profit and loss reports
  • online transaction downloads
Cons
  • old dated interface
  • very minor changes over years
  • costs for the software have doubled since last year
The software has hardly changed over the years, but in my opinion, they keep requireing upgrades to maintain features over time. Just from last year to this year, the cost of the Desktop software has doubled.
