An asset to our company
- Profit/loss accounts.
- Sending and automatically chasing invoices.
- Bookkeeping and attaching digital invoices.
- Estimates that convert to invoices.
- Seeing all bank account balances at once.
- Easily dirt expenses into groups to see how much is spent on each category.
- Fixing the bug where I can’t access the Taxes tab to log and make payment for Vat returns. It is tedious to remember having to open QB in Chrome in an incognito browser window. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. This issue has not been resolved since I noticed it at the beginning of February 2021.
Best business tool for startups
- You can design your own package according to the business needs.
- Easily pay invoices online.
- Reconciling is much easier due to bank feeds.
- Ability to undo mistakes without calling support.
- Monthly fees are high.
- Sometimes files get lost due to software updates.
- Easy to link to bank accounts and credit cards.
- Intuitive interface for most things.
- Manageable chart of accounts that allows for good customization of products and services.
- Basic customization of invoices and language to be used in customer facing invoices/emails.
- All major financial reports are a few clicks away, most can be customized, filtered, saved, exported.
- Allows for rules to be set for common, recurring revenue and expenses - with some limitations.
- The budgets feature leaves a lot be desired - difficult and clunky to populate and maintain.
- Reporting for Budget vs Actual is available but the ability to reforecast based on updated data is not.
- The rules function to default common types of expenses isn't perfect and will get confused if like amounts or a number of similar items present.
- Easy integration with bank accounts.
- Easy to classify transactions.
- Easy reporting.
- PayPal integration doesn’t work anymore.
- Automated fixed asset depreciation.
- Automated loan amortization.
QuickBooks Online Review
- Integrates with online accounts
- Makes matching to transactions very easy
- Connects to the Accountants Office Easily
- Make adding manual transactions easier
- Easier Journal Entry
- QuickBooks Online has amazing support to help quickly answer questions.
- There is an initial discount off the monthly charges for a set time.
- QuickBooks is well known and trusted by many business owners/accountants.
- There are continual updates and improvements to the functionality.
- I feel that some more features could be added to the lower subscription tiers.
- There could be more customization options for reports at the lower tier.
- I feel overall that QuickBooks does a great job, so no other recommendations beyond these listed previously.
- Customer Invoicing - Easy to create and email invoices to customers
- Bank Feeds - Transactions synced daily to easily record income & expenses
- Accountant Access - Easily connect your QBO file to for your accountant
- Paying Bills - In the spirit of simplifying Intuit complicated & confused this process
- Sales Tax Reporting - Still a work in progress for QBO
- Support - Extremely inconsistent support; too many support techs lack accounting knowledge & cause accounting errors
- Pricing - Unfortunately Intuit continues to nickel & dime small business with their various "improvements" & services. Customers have NO input or choice.
For accountants serving their business clients QuickBooks can more than suffice small to medium sized businesses.
For small business users it is a good option for starting out simple and then gradually using more aspects of the software.
I heartily recommend that all small business users connect with a QuickBooks Pro Advisor in order to get the most out of the software.
- Easy to create invoices, especially when using the multiple invoices feature.
- User-friendly.
- East to create financial reports.
- It would be nice to have better customization of automatic email replies for things like payment receipts and payment reminders.
- I would like a testing feature for customer correspondence, like being able to see what an automated payment reminder would look like to my customers before I set one up and implement it.
QuickBooks Online is simple yet powerful, especially when integrated with other software
- Easy to use, very intuitive.
- Reporting.
- Formatting of reports a little clumsy; I would export report out to Excel and then need to clean up the formatting.
- Every so often there would be conflicts with Bill.com and things would not properly clear.
It would not be well suited for a manufacturing operation - I don't think it could handle inventory tracking, CoGS, etc very well.
- synching with the bank
- classifying items by creating rules
- running reports
- should auto sync with the bank
- help support could use improvement
- better way to flow through website
- Payroll
- Recurring Invoices
- Credit Card Tracking
- UX
- Confusing
Starting a Business? Use QuickBooks!
- Modern and clean UI
- Secure login
- Can be used on any device
- Sync with your bank account for easy reconciliation
- Check printing can be a hassle
- Chart of Accounts can be confusing if you don't have a strong knowledge of accounting
- I like the QuickBooks Online dashboard and how it gives me a running total of revenue and expenses for the past thirty days. It is brief, well-illustrated, and easy to use.
- I like the QuickBooks Online interface with our banking accounts for easy reconciliation and import to book transactions.
- I like that we can each access the books from different locations and see the QuickBooks Online transactions real-time.
- QuickBooks Online needs help with journal entries. If I accrue a sales transaction to the proper month and reverse it the next month, it may show up in the overdue balance in the customer's activity. This is confusing when confirming outstanding balances due.
- We would use Direct Deposit in QuickBooks Online, but it is costly. Our bank provides free options for transfers.
- When I update the bank balances, the transactions showing the difference do not always appear. Yet, it will show a green check mark, anyway.
QuickBooks is great!
- Track Mileage
- Invoice Clients
- Syncs with Bank
- Integrate with more then one billing software at a time.
- QuickBooks Online is a cloud-based accounting system and it allows multiple users to log in from multiple locations.
- Very easy to set-up, you can be up and going in minutes.
- Their new projects feature for construction is great addition.
- Could have more features that align with the desktop version, it's a lite version of QuickBooks Desktop.
- Custom support could be better. It's a self serve, easy to use software, but they could be better at managing simple questions.
- QuickBooks Online has a great and easy user-friendly interface.
- QuickBooks Online is integrated with many other software packages through a convenient auto-sync such as accounts payable and expense reimbursement applications.
- QuickBooks Online has great customer support through Intuit forums.
- QuickBooks Online unfortunately doesn't have some important features such as journal entry approval workflows which are necessary at most companies for internal control purposes.
- QuickBooks Online reporting feature is not very robust. QuickBooks Online has mostly basic reporting capabilities and limited functionality to customize reports.
- QuickBooks Online still hasn't added some important accounting modules or capabilities that would make accountants' life easier such as automatic prepaid expense amortization and fixed asset depreciation features.
The ideal solution if you are a company with clear needs and complies with Mexican legislation.
- Be completely a cloud-based program.
- You have everything you need in a single platform, including specific requirements.
- It is fully personalized and complies with Mexican legislation.
- The training regarding the use of the platform is very complete, including its certifications. However, it would improve having greater availability of content in the Spanish language.
- Also including an offline MacOS version would be a great improvement.
- Development support with engineers in Spanish language.
- Incredibly user-friendly user-interface
- Intuit has created very helpful knowledge center and support to answer Accounting-related questions or how to use the software
- Their report function allows to switch between cash basis and accrual basis accounting with the click of a button
- They have a great network of QuickBooks Certified Professionals if business owners need to contract a professional to do the accounting
- QuickBooks Online provides various features that you can add-on as your business grows and has the ability to scale as the accounting needs evolve
- There are many Apps that integrate into QuickBooks, such as Shopify, Paypal, Stripe, etc.
- QuickBooks allows you to design how you would your invoices to look, but the design features are somewhat limited.
- I wish QuickBooks Online would allow the ability to export the trial balance to excel in a table format so I could create Pivot tables in excel. It currently is in a report format so I have to delete rows to make sure that it's in a table format
- QuickBooks doesn't do a very good job of tracking inventory
- Financial Reporting
- Payroll
- Account Reconciliation
- Ability to Customize Dashborad
- Email reminders for Monthly Reports e.g. Reconcile Premiums in Trust Liabilities
- Provide graphs for P&L comparisons
- Remotely available to everyone who needs it without any installation required.
- Integrates with 3rd party applications (we are using it in conjunction with Zoho CRM)
- Allows for easy delivery of invoices and quotations via email.
- Filtering lists can be be awkward
- Customization of forms can be complicated
Why I use QuickBooks Online!
- Report
- Payroll
- Billing
- Invoices
- Provide easy options to change currency because there are times we need to use multi-currency records.
QuickBooks makes things quick and easy
- put all accounts in one location
- gives a broad look at everything
- organizes the budget
- making sure the bank transfer gets all numbers
- An auto reconcile would be great
- budget upload feature to use annually
- Allows me to Reconcile our books with our bank statement
- Reminds me of who needs to be paid
- Allows me to easily correct mistakes
- some states are not supported for online tax payments, i.e. Maine
- some of the customer service people are not as experienced as others. I've often had to call back for a second opinion!
- constant availability as long as you have an internet connection
- no need to manage VMs
- ease of web access or local desktop installation access
- Subscription structure can be prohibitively expensive
- You have far less control over the app because it is no longer hosted by you
- You are trading one set of problems for another set by moving to the cloud
However, due to the pricing structure of the subscription, it may be cost-prohibitive for smaller companies or nonprofits, even with nonprofit pricing. Price hikes come annually, and it is a grind to have to renegotiate the terms of the contract every year.
