Two functions I use a lot- gift entry and events. And neither of them play well with each other between the database and NXT. There are some amazing and helpful functions in NXT for some things, but then trying to do ALL things I need to do in either of those functions does not always translate back into the other platform. I would love to give this a 10 but until those bugs are worked out and/or things collaborate more seamlessly, I have to stick with a 7.
Also- lists- they're just too linear in NXT- for robust information and/or all information we sometimes need, we have to rely on the database. It would be wonderful to be able to fully use NXT for lists because of the way they can be formatted and manipulated in real time and without a lot of thought.

NXT seems easy to learn on a relatively deep level. There are glitches, like with everything, but it is usually easy to see where they are, most of time. I like that Development staff can choose what they want to see and where they want to see it, and it doesn’t affect my screen.

Raiser's Edge NXT is a great product and in many ways has changed the way our advancement office works. The reason that I give it an 8 is that the reporting capabilities aren't quite there yet and you are also not able to report on the event tab or even view the registrants on an event yet. I'm not as concerned about being able to add gifts right in NXT, but that is also a feature that I look forward to seeing someday. I'm sure that these features will be improved upon and added in the near future, but as of today the product is still an 8.

As an end-user, [Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT] is very intuitive and easy to use. When I first started using it, the simplicity confused me; because I was used to having to go through several steps to do something as simple and basic as looking up a constituent's email address. With [Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT], you type in part of the person's name, click on the right individual, and there it is.

Raiser's Edge [NXT] is a great product, but it has the potential to do so much more. The integration that it currently offers does not meet the needs of all organizations and many still look to outside sources to get these products to work well together. If Blackbaud could create an all in one solution that would work with most of these products, this would be a 8 or 9 in that case.

Raiser's Edge NXT has been a great fit for us as we upgraded from the RE7 platform to this. It made it much more user-friendly for our front-end fundraising team to access the information needed without having to know all of the technical sides of the back-end. Our team has been able to be more self-sufficient in pulling the data needed rather than only depending on our data team.

Raiser's Edge NXT is pretty intuitive for most fundraiser users. However, as the database administrator and chief report creator, it does leave something to be desired in its current stage (on 4/15/2021). The usability has increased dramatically over the last three years and if it keeps on pace with that improvement, I imagine it will be one of the most usable programs available soon.

A Review of RE NXT

It works, but it's not something that is automatically intuitive. You need to spend time with it. One of the larger challenges is how hard it is to keep it clean, and to adjust all the components to making it simple. The limitations of some functions and requirement for using Re7 for a number of tasks is a real limitation.

It's incredibly beautiful and user-friendly, but there are enough things that NXT simply doesn't have the functionality to do in the Web View yet that I feel like I have to take a point off. You can still do all of these things in the Database View, but that still has all the same frustrations and complications it has had for years.

I think it's been great, but there's more capabilities that I would enjoy. Such as an overall dollar analysis list over several years. I had to build a report in the database, which is fine, but it would have been nice to have the numbers updated in real time. That's quite a great advantage.

It has everything we need to maintain information on all of our alumni...including their gifts/donations and a way to keep track of who has donated what and when. Then the ability to create "thank you" letters and receipts is great, too. The event management is a lifesaver. It keep track of the alumni that are attending, who their guests are and where they are to be seated. Keep up the good work, Blackbaud!

For somebody who is a long-time user of Raiser's Edge, the NXT version is not as easy to understand for a novice user as I would like. I have a background in end-user system/program training and educating users who do not have any RE background at all is more difficult than I would have expected it to be.

I gave it a rating of 8, because while it is an amazing user interface, it lacks some detail reporting that most nonprofits need. However the system is providing new and better capabilities every day.

I think NXT is very user friendly and the amount of information you are able to extract from it is amazing. Using NXT has allowed my organization to access data we were unable to before switching to NXT and it has made my job as a Database Manager much easier. Whenever I have run into issues or do not understand one of the NXT features, the NXT support team is always very helpful and always points me in the right direction.

The NXT web view is elegant and loads quickly. There are so many options for support that it's difficult to fault any area that may seem confusing given how easy it is to chat with a representative that knows the software very well.

Compared to earlier iterations of Raiser's Edge, NXT is a game-changer. It is a basic enabling technology for our development team. I give it 8 out of 10 because there are a few features that I'd like to see that are not implemented yet (e.g., nicely formatted printouts of the attractive data presentations available on NXT). But all the mission-critical functions are in place, and new features are being released at a pretty rapid pace. Overall, quite happy with NXT.

I don't have much experience with other fundraising databases, but overall NXT has been great for a variety of users in offering a simpler interface for them to use in our office. I do wish it had a few more editing functions on the front end in regards to lists and especially sorting or printing lists. Overall it's a big advantage to have this interface and has been a big asset to us. We also really like the fundraising snapshots you can easily get. One thing about that though is that I wish one could download the PDF for a fundraising snapshot without the page breaks -- can't seem to download it to look the way I want. Great tool, however.
