Renaissance Accelerated Math is a versatile tool that is used in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classrooms for intervention and individualized content creation. Teachers find the program valuable in assessing students and personalizing education, resulting in successful outcomes for both the classroom as a whole and individual students. In elementary schools across the district, the program supplements the existing curriculum by providing enrichment for quick learners and remediation for struggling students. Renaissance Accelerated Math is a purchase choice by the school in our county. Accelerated Math is a program that is used for math practice for students and can be individualized to each student, group, or the whole class. It helps target and identify areas of math weakness in students and gives teachers the ability to create individualized math practice for every student.
  • AM allows teachers to individually assign math practices to every student based on their needs.
  • AM is supported by STAR assessments, which give teachers their students' areas of weakness.
  • Student math practices are outdated and boring for students.
  • Some of the practice strands are too hard in the beginning for struggling students.
Accelerated Math is based on the ease of printing worksheets. In the past, that is what was done due to less technology. Now with most schools having access to technology, Accelerated Math seems old and outdated to students who are used to flashy graphics. Accelerated Math is great for assigning individual practice and targeting specific standards for any grade level.
  • Accelerated Math is easy to individualize and assign to students to help with remediation.
  • Students in middle school do not buy into AM for a number of reasons. This makes it hard to see the value of the cost of AM.
Renaissance has great videos and articles in their help section. They also have an online user community that has great discussions about using their products, access to free webinars, and great tips. They have the honor roll program/challenge to help users track their progress and talk to other users for ideas and tips. Most one-on-one help comes from our instructional facilitators in our county.

We have AM for every classroom grades 3 and up. Virtually no one, however, actually uses it. The thinking behind providing it was to accelerate student growth in math, but it's no good without the lesson cards which were never purchased.
  • It has plenty of practice.
  • The questions are in a language students can understand.
  • They are multiple-choice, so feedback is quick.
  • It's way too labor-intensive for the teacher.
  • If students already know how to do the problem, they haven't gained anything.
  • If students don't know how to do the problem, there is no instruction or support for them.
It really is just like giving the kids busywork, but it's super labor-intensive for the teacher. It is a huge headache to align it to the curriculum.
  • Big waste of money since no one uses it consistently.
  • Big waste of time because of the management.
  • Students show no gains from using it.
The kids like Prodigy, but HATE Accelerated Math. The teacher interface is much easier to use in Prodigy.
All Renaissance products are well-supported.
