Users have successfully converted large volumes of PDFs into Excel spreadsheets, allowing for easier analysis and processing. From converting customer purchase orders to extracting data from lab reports, the software has improved efficiency and accuracy in handling different types of file formats.

Customers have also utilized ReportMiner to automate report generation, eliminating the need for manual steps. The software has been praised for its ability to reformat files, extract specific parts for import into other systems, and transform files from PDF to desired formats. Users have found it relatively intuitive to use, although some improvements could be made to the documentation.

The product's customization options and outstanding customer service have garnered recommendations from satisfied customers. While some users experienced difficulties with downloading and setting up the software, the helpful customer service team promptly resolved these issues. Overall, ReportMiner has significantly increased efficiency and improved data analysis capabilities for users, whether it's converting printed PDF reports or digitizing monthly documents.

Easily converts PDFs into text: Users have found that ReportMiner excels at converting PDF documents into text, even in situations where the PDF has a complicated format. Many reviewers mentioned that they were able to address every scenario they encountered, which was not possible with other services like PDF Focus and Azure Form Recognizer.

Efficient template creation for data extraction: The ability to create templates and quickly extract data from incoming PDFs is highly appreciated by users. This feature significantly reduces the time spent on data extraction according to multiple reviewers.

User-friendly and flexible: Users highlight the user-friendliness and flexibility of ReportMiner. They find it easy and flexible to work with, making it a cost-effective solution as they don't need to rely heavily on technical support. Several reviewers mention this aspect positively.

Cons:

  1. Mac Compatibility: Some users have mentioned that the tool is not available for Mac, limiting its accessibility to a significant portion of potential users who prefer or exclusively use Mac devices.
  2. Learning Curve and Dependence on IT Support: Several reviewers have expressed uncertainty about whether business users can effectively use the tool without IT support due to a learning curve in using the software. This reliance on IT support may hinder the autonomy of business users and potentially slow down their workflow.
  3. Lack of Automation in Lower-Priced Versions: Users have stated that the less expensive versions lack automation capabilities, which could be a drawback for those seeking more efficient workflows. The absence of automation features may require manual intervention and result in repetitive tasks, making it less suitable for businesses looking to streamline their processes efficiently.

  1. Testing various options and exploring alternatives: Users recommend thoroughly testing different options and considering alternative solutions before settling on Report Miner. This approach allows for a comprehensive evaluation to ensure that the tool meets specific requirements.

  2. Including OCR functionality for free: Some users suggest that adding optical character recognition (OCR) functionality as a complimentary feature in Report Miner would enhance its capabilities. This inclusion would enable users to extract text from images or scanned documents, broadening the tool's scope of use.

  3. Having clear goals during the trial period: Reviewers recommend having a clear outline of what needs to be accomplished and testing it during the trial period. This approach ensures that the tool aligns with specific needs and requirements before making a purchase decision.

We get pdf reports that have one record of information on multiple lines. With ReportMiner we can easily harvest the information we need out of the report and put it in Excel. It is a great product that saves us time.
  • Turn multi line pdf into an Excel file.
  • Allows us to us to select just the data we need.
  • Support was very helpful with a really hard pdf conversion.
  • Have not found anything at this time.
Is the record on multiple lines? If yes you will need ReportMiner. If the record is all on one line, you can use a copier that scans to Excel to get a quick file.
The copier to Excel will not do anything for multi line records to make them one line on Excel.
It is the best way to get a multi line record from pdf to Excel in one row.

ReportMiner is being used to digitize a large volume of PDF documents that we receive monthly. Our office runs lean, so I am currently the only person who uses the program. Data entry is a tedious, error prone task that takes up too much time. With a program like Report Miner, one is able to save time and also be able to trust quality of the data.
  • ReportMiner's OCR accuracy is flawless to my experience. I use the program to pull values from check details, and have yet to find an error.
  • ReportMiner's interface is easy to learn. I never even got formal training on the program. I watched some YouTube videos and learned as I went.
  • ReportMiner training personnel is very knowledgeable and quick to respond. Anytime I ran into a problem I could not figure out on my own, they would get back with me within a half a day.
  • The only weakness I have seen with ReportMiner is they do not offer some features I personally would like to see. This is only because I need to manipulate the data in ways that ReportMiner would not have been able to forsee a customer needing the program for.
ReportMiner is well suited for digitizing PDFs that includes data that follows a pattern such as a bank statement. It saves a bunch of time to make one report that will be able to be used each month for that bank. The program would not be useful if you had to spend the time making a new report each month for a new bank with a few lines of data.

I have never actually used another program like ReportMiner. Before I was just using PDF viewers such as Adobe that had OCR capabilities. I would have to select a range of numbers and copy and paste to Excel. It was tedious, slow, and sometimes error prone. I chose to learn ReportMiner because it saves me at least 4 times the amount of time I would have to use by copy and pasting.
We will always have files that need to be digitized in my company.
