Use Cases and Deployment Scope
Our team manages and builds landing pages for our clients. Through ION, we execute A/B tests to gather learnings and optimize the landing page experience for our clients' visitors. We have constructed platform recommendations and competitive reviews, and have utilized ION for more than 5 years.
Pros
  • ION's customer support is superb. They always respond promptly and actually jump into the creative to help understand what's going on and recommend solutions. They're extremely knowledgeable in the platform.
Cons
  • Desktop and mobile setup are not responsive, so you can't forget to build out both version of pages. This can get frustrating at times, as some content may appear in different places than desktop.
  • There is no undo button, so you better get used to copying your creatives! There have been many times where we accidentally deleted the wrong item on the page and had to rebuild everything from scratch. There are rare instances where the page allows you to undo your most recent action, but there is no pattern with that appearing.
Likelihood to Recommend
If you have complex landing pages that you want to redesign, manage, test, etc., this is a great platform to use. There are numerous functionalities with this platform - some that you learn from interacting with the support team. No matter what scenario you are going after, the customer service will top any other platform that you are considering.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope
Our organization uses Ion Interactive to develop and build a variety of landing pages for all the different newspapers within Gannett. We utilized the landing page creation feature for acquisition pushes, contest entry pages, and lead generation capture. Mainly our Digital Marketing Managers utilize the program, but, our Consumer Managers also need to utilize the product.
Pros
  • Variety of templates to choose from.
  • Great coding features - to pull in promo codes and other variable data throughout the entire page without having to re-enter over and over.
  • Picture adaption and layout creation.
Cons
  • Copying pages - there seem to be glitches within the system that won't allow you to copy sometimes.
  • Saving - I like that the page automatically saves as you are working on it, but, I would also like to hit a button that says 'save' to be sure the most recent updates have been saved.
Likelihood to Recommend
The only real features of the program I know are for landing page creation - which the program does quite well (from my limited experiencing creating pages, the older programs we used to have were very plain with little room for creative edge or variation). This product works well for me - but, I am sure there is so much more it can do that I am unaware of!

My organization uses ion interactive to build customized web links that we use to present customized itineraries to our clients. This is used primarily by my department, and not by other departments as far as I am aware. It presents a way for us to provide personalized service to our clients, making them more likely to book with us and share the details with their friends and family.
Pros
  • Very user friendly, and easy to learn.
  • Consistently reliable template with minimal issues.
Cons
  • Occasionally when creating a new website, the functionality of certain features can be quite slow to load.
Likelihood to Recommend
Based on my personal experience, ion interactive is great if you need to create a quick and simple website on the fly as a means to support a presentation. It is consistent and easy to use, and great as a basic marketing tool. The websites I create using ion interactive are nothing fancy, but I appreciate how quickly I can get them turned around.

ion interactive is essential to paid interactive marketing supported by my team. From my experience, it benefits the client in that the portfolio performance view is especially useful in regularly sharing with clients the performance and progress of their campaigns.
Pros
  • multiple views for portfolio performance
  • user friendly with tutorials
  • stays on top of trending web strategies
Cons
  • no custom date range to select for portfolio performance view
  • more flexibility in the drag-and-drop page editor would be appreciated

From my experience, ion interactive may be less appropriate for a small business or entity working with individuals. However, it has many benefits for companies working with large-scale clients.

We (the SEM part of our company's Marketing Department) were looking for a web page creation tool that would allow us to bypass developers in order for us to be able to make the pages ourselves without waiting for developers to have the time to dedicate to helping us. Ion interactive was able to provide us with a comprehensive "what you see is what you get" (WYSIWYG) option that made our page creation efforts much more nimble and effective.
Pros
  • We really liked the drag and drop capabilities.
  • We also liked having access to the HTML coding so we could manually make more specific changes to the look and feel of our pages.
  • We also liked being able to use the custom templates feature.
Cons
  • We would have liked for it to be a little easier to duplicate pages.
  • We also wish ion interactive would have given us a larger number of tracking capabilities to choose from.
Likelihood to Recommend
As a newer member of the SEM part of our Marketing Department, ion interactive was a very easy tool to learn quickly, thus decreasing my overall learning curve. Without any prior knowledge or experience in web development or landing page creation, I was able to confidently come in and start making changes and updates with little assistance.
