For small enterprises where there are standard applications like SQL Windows, Linux and VMs mainly are the most suited environment. This would require very fewer effort to maintain and would not require a dedicated backup resource to do the operations. The reporting feature is perfect for compliance and audit data reports which are required frequently in regulated environments.

We have never been able to recover email accounts without going to third part suppliers.

Pros:

- Oracle backups are powerfull, RMAN based
- MSSQL backups are mainly supported
- Replication and cloud archiving, even cascading
- D2D2C fully supported

Cons:
- specific systems as AIX are not supported
- very big MSSQL backup could be tricky but not impossible

Of the many different technologies I have used over the years, I would say this is the best but does come at a premium cost. I would certainly recommend a VMware environment over Hyper-v. If vms migrate between clusters in Hyper-v they will be treated as relics, that is my only real complaint.

If simplicity is valued over complex alternatives Rubrik wins. Previous complex tasks just aren't required anymore. This may upset technicians, but it drives value to the business and allows those technicians to do something more productive than tinker with an over complex backup infrastructure.

It's a way faster and reliable backup software we have implemented till now. Lots of cloud backup are been initiated with the help of Rubrik. Certainly, we have certainly improved our timeframe for backup. Also, it is very consistent and the restoration of the backup is also very efficient and viable.

We use Rubrik to backup all physical and virtual servers on prem. The appliance has been installed in multiple data centers to ensure data replication. Smaller remote sites have the Rubrik Edge setup for cost savings. All long-term data retention is being archived in the cloud for a lower cost of storage.

In my experience, Rubrik is perfect for what my organization needs. It is well suited for taking snapshots of virtual environments and does so seamlessly and efficiently. It is a set it and forget it platform meaning that once you link your VM center, configure SLA domains, and where the backups are to be collected and sent it is hands-off unless you need to make changes.

Rubrik is an enterprise backup and recovery system. While it can be used anywhere, the price point may be tough for small entities. The Ransomware detection feature and the immutability of backups built into the platform are definitely an added plus that can be leveraged to enhance the cybersecurity of an organization.

Best used in a slightly more modern infrastructure, some teething issues with our older systems and databases where the backup technology wasn't as easy to use/implement as promised during demonstrations; however, all around a great product which replaced a similarly rated product we had for 5 years previous.
Does what it says on the tin so far, still plenty of features yet to test out.

Rubrik provides excellent protection against ransomware.

Rubrik has the ability to instantly recover a VM run as needed then vmotion back to the host when it is stable, this ability is a company must have. It also has the ability to mount a DB to any other DB capable server cloud or on prem is a highly necessary tool for business continuity.

So far, this has been a wonderful solution for our organization. I would say anyone who is looking for something that is relatively easy to use would find this solution at the top of their list. After an initial learning curve (coming from Avamar) I have found it very easy to get around and find what I'm looking for. There is a bit of a paradigm shift when utilizing Rubrik's SLAs but now that I understand how it all works, it's actually a much simpler way of handling backups than something like Avamar.

I feel like this would be great for any organization no matter the size (and I understand they have plenty of implementations that are much larger than ours).

If you're looking for point-in-time restores of your databases (MSSQL and Oracle) this does a great job of integrating transaction logs - not something I was ever able to get in our previous solution. It also offers the ability to back up your databases using a direct mount point instead of the CDM software (so if you're currently dumping Oracle databases to an NFS mount point in a Data Domain, for instance, you can do the same thing with Rubrik).

I'm not sure where it would be less appropriate - from what I can tell, this is as fully featured as any other enterprise-class backup solution and meets all of our needs perfectly.

Excellent product, especially for environments that require high rates of restores, or SQL refreshes from backups.

We just implemented Rubrik Polaris for our team and so far there are no issues. If there was any critique it would be that the entire experience was more or less hands-off and a bit cryptic. To expand on that, we received the link, a means to log in but that was it. No explanation of the features, no quick-start session. While there are user guides to go thru in my years of setting up new programs, add-on, etc. they usually have a high-level overview. Right now Polaris sits on our system next to Rubrik and to be honest not really sure what it is doing or what we should be paying attention to. In true Rubrik fashion, I request further assistance and am given a user manual that no one has time to review. So that was a little disappointing but as I mentioned that has been my experience with Rubrik overall.

Recommend Rubrik very highly, easy to learn though it uses some concepts that are different (SLA) than other BU systems. The concept of restores you will not find a restore button but must drill down into the source backup and do it from there. Lots of new concepts to learn and some to unlearn from old clunky legacy backup systems. Rubrik works very well in capturing and restoring of virtual servers.

I can think only about the NoSQL DB as a point where is less appropriate. Instead, I think that forcing the two-factor authentication for every user (AD, LDAP, or local) has to be a must.

It's great in an enterprise environment where VM's are plentiful, getting built all the time, but not the best choice for a small shop with few servers.

If you're looking for an easy button, this is it. We have used it to restore to test labs, move SQL dbs to other servers, archive to the cloud, it's great.

Rubrik is suited to any VM platform to backup, on encrypted channels, to the immutable file systems, making it suitable for ransomware mitigation. Any destination, either on-premise or in the public cloud can be used. SLA's are put in place to ensure that the Rubrik platform ensures that RPO / RTO are managed via a single pane.

Best in DR and some things to implement in special things like SAP.

Rubrik CDM is well-suited for our use case, protecting on-prem VMs. Because of the integration with VMware, clients are not required on all of our VMs which simplifies setup. Rubrik has shown much growth over the past 3 years that we have been a customer and has added many valuable features like legal hold and continual data protection.

It suits snapshot backups just fine. We are going to get another Brik and user the Cloud Management backups for offsite/DR.
