It is a resource planning solution that connects core business operations like accounting, distribution, warehousing, etc.

The security features allow you to fine tune the permissions for the end users so that they cannot see data that you do not want them to see. It is great with Financial Planning and Management.

Sage 300cloud is being used across our entire organization, across all departments. We utilize Sage 300cloud as our accounting, work order, and job management system. Previously, we used something less robust and on premise which can create its own set of challenges. With Sage 300cloud, we are able to work across the whole organization from anywhere without worrying about not having enough licenses.
  • Subscription based pricing - this is great because it's a pay as you go model
  • Integration - Sage 300cloud offers numerous integrations with other apps
  • UI - A more modern approach with better looking screens
  • Job Integration - Sage 300cloud doesn't offer the ability to track time against jobs
  • Time Tracking - Sage 300cloud doesn't offer an easy way to track time in the field
  • Reporting - Sage 300cloud lacks on reporting
Sage 300cloud is a great option when it comes to cloud accounting/tracking software. In comparison to Sage's other products, Sage 300cloud is the only cloud/web based option with modern UI's and more intuitive interfaces. Additionally, Sage 300cloud offers an entire system of customer integrations that become available dependent on subscription level. Sage 300cloud also offers integrations between other Sage products (AP, CRM, etc) that allows for better automation and efficiency.

  • Money saved on a pay as you go type pricing model vs license based
  • No Time Tracking feature which means a separate time tracking feature is needed
  • Integrations save time and money because you can pull all this information into one area
Sage 300cloud is a great cloud/web based option when stacked against Sage 300 and Sage 100 Contractor. These other two systems are on premise and require licenses to access. Sage 300cloud can be accessed from any web page and is a pay as you go model. Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and Oracle JD Edwards World are better for larger organizations that are heavy into Service and Work Order Management.
Sage 300cloud is intuitive and user friendly after some training. It does require implementation and training but once that's done, this software is easy to use and navigate. Support for Sage 300cloud is spot on and offers assistance over the simplest to [the] most complex of tasks. Finding information or learning new tasks within Sage 300cloud is relatively easy and educational.
Support for Sage 300cloud is similar to Sage support. Depending on which channel you get to and which Specialist you get, the Support can be spot on and rapid. However, there can be wait times and [occasionally], new functionality isn't always well supported. Support documentation is great and [easily] accessible. Additionally, Support Consultants are great resources when it comes to learning and troubleshooting Sage 300cloud.

Sage 300 ERP is being used by the whole company for quoting, order confirmation, purchase order, receiving, invoicing, A/R and A/P and GL statements including dual currency. It is also used by our service department. Plus we have Sage 300 tied to Sage CRM and integrated with our toolroom database as well as our ISO 17025 calibration reports
  • Creating order entry from our quoting, as well as creating a PO form order entry
  • Handling the Dual Currency
  • Linking of quote, order entry and purchase order to an item, being able to see what quote, orders and PO has been place on this item
  • Customer with multiple A/R address
  • Reports are overdone - too much information and you can edit the reports
  • Inventory items tracking
Do you need all the modules or can you select just few? You need a representative who has some knowledge of the type of business you are in to see if this is the right system for your company's process. It will also give you some idea how to set up the system to work for your company without adding work time to your process. A new company needs to evaluate the system against the way their process works now and do the same process in the system before making the jump!

Sage 300 is used across the whole organization from accounting and admin staff to front line staff and executives. It allows the different departments to share information with each other easily. It allows access to information anywhere anytime including at job sites. It provides analytical and KPI information critical to monitoring our success. It addresses complex revenue recognition issues we experience in the software and SaaS software industry. It ensures we deliver the best possible service to our customers.
  • Revenue Recognition - Allows us to recognize revenue on software sales when it is earned rather then when it is received.
  • Dashboards - Allows us to see how the business is doing anytime we want in real time
  • Remote Access - web based so we can access software from smart phones and laptops and are not in the office. Can get info when we need it.
  • Reporting - Excellent reporting capabilities both financial, management and adhoc capabilities, allows reporting with other non Sage 300 databases as well
  • CRM - allows sales and accounting and sales and production to communicate easier and we have better monitoring of sales, marketing and customer service activities
  • Sage needs more of it functionality to be web based so all features can be accessed remotely
  • Could use a cosmetic face lift some of the interface is a little old school
Very strong in both durable and non durable goods distribution. Strong lot tracking for perishable goods. Serialized Inventory for more durable goods that need tracking. Great chart of accounts flexibility for Not for Profits to perform fund accounting but great for any business in that sense. Good manufacturing add ons. Very large ISV community for many industry verticals. It does not fit the property management space all that well.

Sage deals with Canadian issues much better than the products above. It has better multicurrency capabilities. It address Canadian taxes especially GST input tax credits better. It has better options for Canadian payroll and Candian payments including EFT and Credit Card processing.

Sage 300 End User Skills, Crystal Reports and Excel Skills, Some understanding of relational databases and MS-SQL. Technical skills if you do not have IT department to ensure backup procedures. Obviously they must also be versed in typical accounting and bookkeeping type skills as the product is an accounting product. If you are using other modules like inventory and order entry it would be good for someone supporting the product to have supply chain skills
  • Integrated to our CRM system
  • Offers Revenue Recognition capabilities for subscription payments
  • Canadian Payroll Integration
  • Using optional fields to track marketing info about our customers and create marketing lists
  • Anywhere any time access to dashboards so Executive staff have access to data at any time
  • Process payments from customers in system via bank transfer or credit card
  • HTML screens will allow anytime anywhere access
  • Integrated to Project Management products would be beneficial
  • Reporting on Sage 300, Sage CRM and other product data would be fantastic
It is a solid stable product with a large user community and large ISV community. Support and Training are easy to access and obtain and there is larger reseller channel to ensure the firm you work with is honest. It is scalable and there are multiple deployment and payment options.
Yes
We replaced in house developed applications that were difficult to maintain and upgrade. Eventually we lost the staff who could support the in house developed product and decided it was best to move to an application that was more popular with a larger install base. We now are able to find resources that use the product and have skills that can help us.

We had a great deal of experience with the product in the past which was a huge influence but the product also had features we wanted in terms of intergration to other products like Fixed Assets, CRM, Time and Billing and BI tools. Sage of course has offices in Richmond and there is a very large install base in Vancouver and many resellers so we knew we would never have issues with getting access to resources.
We would have fully analyzed all our needs vs just our accounting needs. In the end we make mistakes with some of the add on products we chose because we did not analyze our needs in advance and evaluate the products against those needs. We chose products based on bells and whistles we really liked but the products were missing fundamental components we really needed.
No
We don't really need premium support. We are able to support ourselves for the most part and when we have a major problem we are usually able to find answers in Sage City forums or Sage knowledge base. If we have major issues which is rare we seek the assistance of a Sage reseller or the publisher and are able to get help quickly and affordably.
Turnover is high in the Sage Support department so sometimes it is difficult to get a rep who knows the issue well. Reps are good and getting assistance when they need it. Sometimes support is more interested in closing issue than actually solving problem. It can be difficult at times to have issues escalated but overall the support is good.
Yes
Yes and Yes.
They have fixed bugs that were effecting how we could use the products in a matter of days.
  • Dashboard view into AR aging, AP aging and Balance Sheet and Income Statement
  • Converting Quotes from Sales people into Orders and then Invoices
  • Creating Purchase Orders to meet Sales Order requirements
  • Revenue Recognition module does not include great reporting
  • Project Job Cost module does not include great reporting
Yes
Sage 300 has a mobile interace for Sales and Payments and they both work very well.
Every product can use modest improvement. Sage needs a more modern interface using some of the functionality we see in common interfaces we use every day in the web and with modern operating systems.
