Probably the biggest reason I selected Sage Accounting is the number of years I have been using it. My training was all manual, and with Sage Accounting I can see and understand how it works. I did use Pegasus successfully for a number of years with a different employer, but not to the extent that I now use Sage Accounting. I struggled with Xero & Quickbooks, perhaps because they seem to be directed to much smaller business users.

I recommend using the AutoEntry with Sage. Very easy to use. Sage Payroll is also excellent.

Used both Sage Accounting 50 and Sage 200, both equally as effective. Find Xero, childish, they have tabs who you owe money to. I think it's really designed for those with little or no accounting knowledge.

Sage was just easier for me to use and more familiar for my staff, who had some experience with enterprise versions of Sage in the past. It became a no-brainer when I made the final decision about which package to go with.

Sage Accounting is a simpler, more streamlined version of the more complex Sage 50cloud Accounting. For a small, simpler company Sage Accounting is a much more cost-effective option. There are a few features that Sage 50cloud Accounting has that Sage Accounting does not have (such as making e-payments and a few reports are unavailable) but it is still a very good product.

Having first used Sage Payroll and found the software amazingly quick and easy to use, having great telephone support, I decided to try the other Sage products and have not been disappointed.

While QuickBooks is a solid solution, Sage Accounting offers enhanced security and effectively prevents any unrecorded activity. I'm thoroughly satisfied with Sage Accounting and Payroll and have no intention of switching back. Better security and prevents any unrecorded activity.

Sage 50 is more flexible than Sage Accounting, but both serve the needs of the user very well. Sage 50 allows for more detailed analysis of ledgers and reporting functionality. Whereas Sage Accounting is probably more suited to small business on balance, it just depends on which sector you are working in and what your needs as users are.

Quickbooks is not for me i don't like anything about it, the terminology they use is not clear and the layout is not user friendly.

Xero i use in my practice as some clients prefer it. If i have the choice i do use Sage but if the client prefers Xero i will use. It can be difficult to use but i can find my way around to print reports. I don't like that a supplier has to be set up for every payment EG payments to Staff ect it makes the supplier and customer screens very messy

I'd personally put Sage Accounting on a par with Xero but significantly ahead of Quickbooks. I'd say the choice falls down to individual needs and choice. Sage Accounting offers a fair and not substantial monthly cost, with this being a monthly cost that's helpful particularly for business start-ups. It the allows importing into other Sage packages should the business "out grow" Sage Accounting and want a different suite such as Line 50 which is also fantastic. Data can be imported and this no need to start again inputting existing customers and suppliers.

Its far more flexible, much better value for money, UK based with accessible and intelligent support. Unlike the other software providers Sage is low on gimmicks and high on usable content. It does what it needs to do exceptionally well and it is constantly evolving.

I have used Oracle's Peoplesoft and QB Enterprise, and I preferred Peoplesoft to everything. It really boils down to the question of how you're using the platforms. If you like to work in excel for analytics, the reporting and data outputs for PeopleSoft are much better because it's data with no formatting or frills. If Sage was to change its reporting outputs, then I wouldn't really have an opinion on which is better.

We used to do everything manually with sage one accounting software everything becomes easy and saved lots of time for daily tasks. Easy to use features for all age groups. All Ap, AR, Bank reconciliations, Journal Entries, Cash Management everything becomes so easy to reconciles and post. it was a great transition from our former accounting software.

Haven't used it, but have had a look. Footprint in SA still very small, but I hear very good things about it. A number of associates use and highly recommend Xero, even over Sage. Due to our level of integration with Sage, the benefits of migrating don't exceed the costs for us.

I find that Wave can be slow and frustrating. It is also very limited and more geared for American and Canadian users. Regarding QuickBooks Online, I attempted the demo when shopping for a system. Sage Business Cloud is more widely used in South Africa so using QuickBooks Online and finding clients that use the same system, is far and few between. Sage Business Cloud Accounting has everything that my clients need, is easy to use, and has great customer support.

Although I've used a number of other accounting systems, Sage is really comparable to Xero and QuickBooks Online, as it is competing in the same basic accounting software category. Sage One Accounting has been selected in certain client situations where they were already using a product in the Sage family and wanted to continue with the same vendor. In a pure agnostic comparison, however, QuickBooks Online offers much better functionality at a similar price category. Intuit/QuickBooks Online is far more advanced in the cloud computing paradigm by creating and promoting a stronger app ecosystem, so as this app environment becomes stronger, more products will be designed to work with the QuickBooks Online API, thus enabling one to create a much stronger overall accounting solution. However, if one's needs are basic, Sage One is adequate and can do the job in many situations.

  • I have tried some of the other cloud accounting programs but I will not list names as I do not believe in bad mouthing the competition to make a particular product look better
I just find compared to others that Sage One Accounting is definitely easier to navigate through and easier to understand and use when accounting or bookkeeping isn't your area of expertise. I have trained several people on the program now that have absolutely no accounting back ground and they are loving the program and their businesses are flourishing.
