Salesforce is used as our prospective student management tool. As well as managing current students. It allows us to manage different student's interest levels, schedule admissions appointments, as well as distribute new student leads. We also use this to enter PDRs "personally developed relationships" with students. This tool is used by all admissions and links with another student management tool used by our admin team
  • Manage New Leads
  • Distribute leads across team members
  • Populate leads to work
Cons
  • Ease of use when needing new leads
  • More interest level platform
  • Getting rid of non interested leads automatically after number of times worked
This platform is well suited for our application (managing new student info) as well as distribution of leads. Ease of use in the area of assigning leads as well as scheduling appointments is very attractive. Areas where it is less appropriate I'm really unaware of due to the fact that this software works perfectly for what we needed

Great CRM, easy to use!

Everyone in our organization uses Salesforce. We utilize Salesforce's out-of-the-box functionality to organize our leads and contacts, maintain our sales opportunities, and manage our support tickets with our customers. We also developed custom objects to keep track of long term projects with customers, employee and applicant information, and inventory management of all our office equipment and technology.
  • I think the greatest strength of Salesforce is it's high degree of customization. You can customize Salesforce around your existing business practices, instead of modifying your existing processes to fit into Salesforce.
  • You can create very complex business processes in Salesforce with very little work. They do a great job of simplifying the set up process, and embrace the idea of point and click administrators.
  • The ability to add third party apps from the AppExchange allows for even more customization and integration.
  • Help and Support. Salesforce has a very active community of users to help answer questions you might have. They also reviews ideas you have for how they can improve their platform. If you can't find the solution yourself, Salesforce Support is a great resource.
Cons
  • There are a lot of obscure rules and exceptions to normal rules that makes designing your org difficult.
  • There are multiple ways to accomplish the same thing. This is helpful to some people, but others find this frustrating.
Because Salesforce offers a high level of customization, I believe it can be adapted to any scenario. I have helped implement it in small to medium size businesses in a variety of industries.

Our sales team uses salesforce as a CRM, it syncs with Outlook, disc.org and Toutapp
  • It's a great platform and we rarely if ever have any problems with it
Cons
  • On occasion we have noticed the account financials aren't lining up, but on the back end we have been able to resolve it
Working with a large customer data base, I can't imagine how we would keep track of each client's specifics with out Salesforce.

The main goal of Salesforce is to follow business pipeline. In our setting, we have declared companies, contacts, opportunities, and requests. The tool is efficient to get access to information on the web or mobile at any time. It is excellent to track business opportunities and link them to an account in order to be able to reverse engineering a customer organization and be able to maximize our customer's satisfaction. It is helpful to monitor tasks and has a follow-up of actions. The main issue we are solving is tracking business opportunities and having a business review that allows us to have a better understanding of our market footprint.
  • Registering calls / mails / exchanges
  • Setting up graphs from incoming data
  • Access from mobile / computer / tablet from web or app
Cons
  • Data visualisation (plotting graphs)
  • Regrouping data
  • Draw a company organisation or hierarchical
Scenarios that are well suited I use to gather customers' requests throughout the year, request come indistinctly from several entities from my customer. I mean that an entity will send a request in march one in July and another in December. another entity will send four requestion in January and 2 in September. Salesforce is useful to help me regroup those requests and understand the strategy of the entity. I still have to import manually the data but as long as the data are structured you can then easily manipulate them afterward and give some intelligence to the business story. Bad scenario It is difficult to gather unstructured data to add them into Salesforce. While we have to deal with some unstructured data, the major work is to consolidate data write them, and sort them in Salesforce.

Easy to use, hard to master as an admin

Salesforce.com was used as our main CRM system. We used it to track wins, track prospects and keep track of ongoing sales activity. Our partners had access to view their data but the entire company was not given licenses due to expense. Our marketing team was the primary user of the product.
  • Easy to navigate
  • Easy to add new opportunities
  • Lots of ability to customize
Cons
  • Licenses are extremely expensive
  • It felt like we were constantly being upsold
  • Backend could be difficult to navigate at times
Salesforce.com is great if your IT team can support you and help with implementation from the start. Your data must be clean when you set up the system or you will experience many issues along the way. Having a Salesforce.com, dedicated administer is crucial to keep data clean and organized otherwise you'll have duplicates and unclean data.
