SAP Crystal is an analytics and reporting software solution for SMBs. SAP Crystal comprises Crystal Reports for pixel-perfect reporting, and SAP Crystal Server for automated distribution and self-service access to reports, dashboards and data exploration.
Reviewers rate Publish to PDF highest, with a score of 9.3.
The most common users of SAP Crystal are from Mid-sized Companies (51-1,000 employees) and the Information Technology & Services industry.
Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why
Access to generate reports using crystal can be granted by admin t super users avoiding misuse of important documents such as invoice providing a high level of security. The reports are formatted accurately into the report template with auto page breaks in case of increasing data and is seamlessly fitted into the template avoiding unrequired intervention of users
It is very easy and yet secure.
Easy to just upload files. It would be nice if users didn't have to reenter data source credentials every time.
This tool provides easy sharing & distribution techniques. This is the best tool in market for formatted reports or where a lot of printing requirement is there of reports. It has capabilities of distribution as well. It has its own security mechanism along with merged security settings in case of Single Sign on.
Not really applicable in our organization and implementation.
Data sharing is easy and effective. Cloud-based access of data and financial statements. Nice user interface.
Compared to the current cloud technology, the sharing and collaboration capabilities of SAP Crystal is pretty bad since it does not allow direct sharing. The current working process is done through Google or GitHub and once the work is done, it will be shared with team members at the same time.
We are able to auto-generate thousands of reports each week and the access controls and distribution capabilities allow only those users with access to see their reports. Some reports are pushed while others are pulled. The access control capabilities are sufficient to allow us to do this. Also, the development teams are able to easily collaborate on reports given the features of Crystal.
The report can be output into various formats. Depending on your needs and the situation, some might be more suitable or useful to others. A similar option can be found when using R Markdown or Jupyter Notebook to render reports into PDF, HTML, etc. while once report is made, the data cannot be changed.
I'm not very familiar with this feature; I don't think I can comment intelligently. I can speak to sharing reports with customers, but I've never used SAP Crystal in the attempt to collaborate on access control capabilities, ease of sharing data across teams. I can speak to its asset as a report distribution mechanism that has been a significant feature of the tool.
It doesn't have access control, you'd require to have access to a Crystal writer which allow you to create and view reports. Another option would be to use the Viewer which allows users to run reports but no functionality to customize. If your ERP system integrates with Crystal, then users can access it that way, possibly without a license.
Reports can be centrally managed for distribution, but complex distribution cycles are cumbersome to manage at scale (it sends a user only their data dynamically). Access can be controlled by report or reports folders to allow flexibility. Teams are not able to easily collaborate on data or reports without exporting and emailing to start conversations.
Reports are easy to share, and the security configuration allows other users to see what they only have permission to view.
We don't really share access to the report but give access to the necessary persons to Crystal Reports directly. Sometimes we share access to MDB files. All in all, we mostly go for saving the reports locally sometimes and then sharing rather than using the access control capabilities much.
You can publish Crystal Reports to a report server and this allows all of your technical users access to the files themselves. End users have the ability to run the reports with read only access and export out to a variety of sources (i.e. PDF, Excel, HTML, Word). But your technical users can update the base file itself and keep one version published on the report server for consistency.
It does not have data collaboration as is, because the reports can be excecuted only by a user who has access to the SAP client and then it needs to have user permissions to access the report, once it has the report executed on his screen he can download to pdf or xls file and then share information.
They provide a free developer's kit for Visual Studio, that makes it possible for people to develop new reports with no additional expense. The Report Server was prohibitively expensive, as compared to the Report Server delivered at no additional charge with the full version of SQL Server. I can include reports in web pages, using the reporting API.
The data are easily shared across our team and also to external recipients such as clients. The only problem we have is the export back to Excel for users who are not able to view data in Crystal. The formatting of such reports takes a lot of time. We feel that this should be improved.
We can share data in the .pdf format with users, which is helpful and we need to upgrade to the server version for mobile access of the same.
I am not familiar with any collaboration capabilities, unless you consider the simple automatic distribution of reports to be collaborative.
This is a great feature of this product. We can share reports with anyone very easily and even modify them.
