SAP Data Intelligence has been used specifically within my department as a means of predicting certain costs of a claim. This has been an on-going project taking data from an OCR engine which reads incoming documents passing details to a variety of databases and SAP in order to predict those claims as possibly fraudulent claims or high value claims and pass this information to different departments via report for them to "keep an eye on."
  • Easy to pick up.
  • Tools for data cleansing.
  • Able to use existing learning models from the business.
  • Operates on cloud.
Cons
  • Not made for working with others.
  • Debugging is needlessly complicated and obfuscates issues.
  • Documentation could use more examples to highlight points.
SAP DI has proved useful to us with its ability to pull from a variety of data sources and is well suited to this. It is also more than capable of cleansing out data without a great deal of issues. It is well suited to running a variety of different ML models including the use of python and R. It is not so well suited to large masses of data and can do with more support around complex ML models.

We are an early adopter of [SAP] Data Intelligence (DI), for which we are pioneering use cases with SAP as a partner company. Our broad goals are to increase transparency and reduce risk for renewable energy investors. Specifically with with DI we can set up real time monitoring pipelines using Machine Learning models that continuously compare historic power generation asset performance with their current performance. This provides early under performance warnings to the owner/investor so they can take action to avoid excessive costs due to mechanical failures or other equipment down times.
  • It integrates well with our current ecosystem of SAP products, like HANA.
  • It provides end-to-end machine learning operations, with tools for the complete model life cycle.
  • It has a simple user interface for novice users, with complex tools also available for power users.
  • It builds on SAP Data Hub, providing all the ETL functions of that tool with additional machine learning functionality.
  • It can run in the cloud, no on-premise software management needed.
  • Many programming languages are supported, it provides a sandbox environment for the user to develop in whichever style they prefer.
  • SAP is very actively developing and improving it.
Cons
  • The administration tools are still in development, currently SAP must be contacted for most admin tasks.
  • Updates sometimes introduce unwanted instabilities.
  • The documentation and examples use cases are still being written and need to be expanded.
SAP Data Intelligence is suitable for large scale commercial machine learning applications where hundreds or thousands of similar but unique processes must be independently monitored, for scenarios that must run automatically and repeatedly without data scientist involvement, and for scenarios where data is continuously collected. It is less appropriate for specialized data science projects with a fixed data set that will not be repeated.

SAP Data Intelligence is used for multiple use cases:
- Data is integrated from different source systems, which is then analysed first. After the analysis data is transformed and harmonized.
- Further, machine learning algorithms are modeled in SAP Data Intelligence and run on the data set.
- What is more, the SAP Data Intelligence environment interacts with different on premise systems and the results of the machine learning processes are sent back to the on premise systems.
  • Great machine learning capabilities
  • Many possibilities to connect source systems and interact with it
  • Operation on cloud reduces administration tasks to a minimum
  • Great Governance capabilities
Cons
  • Still fairly new product
Well suited for connecting various source systems, especially SAP systems, to SAP Data Intelligence and work with the data. Many possibilities to use machine learning algorithms. Fully managed on cloud.

We used SAP Data Intelligence to build Intelligent Asset Maintenance solution. In this current pandemic situation , clients are more focusing towards contact-less manufacturing and maintenance. We built a solution to enable machine failure prediction , anomaly detection in machine performance to proactively maintain the machine. We utilize Data orchestration and machine learning component of SAP Data intelligence product to build this solution.
  • Data orchestration from multiple data sources
  • Machine learning capabilities
  • Containerize architecture to run on hybrid cloud
Cons
  • Scaling requirement to handle large data
  • Limited in-build machine learning features
  • Need more stable product
SAP Data intelligence is very well suited in scenarios , where we need to harmonize and integrate data from multiple data sources , run machine learning algorithm, out put the data for advance analytics purpose . It still needs improvement to handle large volume of data and complex machine learning algorithm.

Hav]ing used SAP Data Intelligence for 4 before coming to Harvest that I've continued to support other users for another year after advising for its installation, it's been widely used across departments like marketing, mostly to gather responsive departmental data easily.
  • Processing of data has been so convenient thanks to SAP Data Intelligence.
  • Convenient to use as comes with in built learning machine.
  • Manages and stores a wide variety of data even raw.
Cons
  • None that I can talk of.
Really works fine on analyzing of data and processing which have been of really great help since I was at my first company.
