Use Cases and Deployment Scope

SAP Extension Suite and its offering it's what you need to develop the perfect extension of SAP solutions. It shall be possible to create extension also for non-SAP solutions. As BTP Architect when I have to create completely new solution or I have to extend an SAP solution I always leverage the tools, best practices and methodologies offered by SAP, in this way I am confident that my solution will be robust and delivered smoothly. The offering is evolving and going the direction of no code/ low code as per the market request, these solution doesn't seem enough mature to me but I think that the effort is admirable

Application developed and hosted on SAP BTP Cloud Foundry to cater the business requirement. SAP BTP provides ready to use microservices which makes the development easily, fast and scalable keeping the SAP Core clean.

From a customer experience point of view, the speed of development and the quality of the user interface of SAP Extension Suite [have] improved developer productivity and significantly boosted our agility. It completely redesigned our operating model and we now create [an] internal application that we need, at high speed and high quality, without spending so much on resources. Using SAP Extension Suite we can now scale the business operation with much more confidence and quickly tailor new integrations for any client situation.

Comes with automatic app generation capability to enable us automatically write code, and move from backend to frontend.

Cons

Well, not that it has many cons to point out only that you may encounter unforeseen events during your use of the system which the documentation may or may not have a solution for. I think that is normal with any other system.

The adoption of SAP Extension Suite is growing significantly and it has become a strategic platform for our company. SAP Extension Suite will most likely meet the requirements of most companies to get beyond small workgroup apps and tackle more strategic requirements. The most important thing that SAP Extension delivers is a single UI for development effort for web and mobile deployment.

We are currently using SAP Extension Suite to create new products within a short period of time, as it's quick to code and very fast to test using SAP Extension Suite - something we couldn't have achieved with our legacy platform. With SAP Extension Suite we have the ability to deliver a completed product within months and not years and release updates in days, for every project we undertake, the end product is such a clean app.

Easier navigation of the system is something I would appreciate if it was improved[.]
Completely dependent on [the internet] connection which I think may not change now but in [the future] we may be able to access it offline[.]

Simplified the process of developing applications, [enabling] rapid innovation[,] and has already reduced staff overtime by around a dozen hours a day. The rapid development capabilities of SAP Extension Suite led to standardization, high levels of code reuse, [as well as] improved agility that resulted in speedy delivery of applications and helped overcome the problems of hand-to-change deployments. SAP Extension Suite is the platform that we use for a whole variety of mobile and web development projects. It's more flexible compared to hand-coding and users appreciate the modern look and feel of the solutions we develop using SAP Extension Suite.

Pros

Allows for instant elasticity and lets developers custom build solutions
The speed of delivery it offers enables a solution to be deployed in a short period of time
Allows the IT team to leverage their existing skill set and minimize use of resources
Enables the reuse of code

Cons

It's quite important to note that the configuration process involved with SAP Extension Suite is troublesome.
Whenever they make an upgrade it feels like a new system and there are things we have to relearn.

SAP Extension Suite has brought agile development to the business and as a new methodology we put in place we were able to cut a whole layer of consultants. [It has] enabled us to build our own custom applications, and [implement] changes extremely fast which gave the company the ability to innovate core processes to respond more quickly to market developments.

The inability to deploy to multiple environments simultaneously is the only limitation I find with this platform.

Web and mobile apps we develop with SAP Extension Suite (formerly part of SAP Cloud Platform) now touch almost every corner of the business, and the responsive user interface of our web applications works perfectly for use on mobile devices. Nowadays, enhanced continuous collaboration among the development team and a greater emphasis on UX design has greatly increased our ability to deliver solutions that are loved by our clients.

Pros

Made it easy for the operations team to push new versions from development to QA to production with speed
Supported our internal coding capabilities and streamlined application development and management
Simplified application staging and version control
Made it easy to reuse application components

Cons

It's an expansive platform and definitely we have found it to be pricey and some small businesses struggle with the cost

SAP Extension Suite (formerly part of SAP Cloud Platform) made it easy to reuse components across the development teams and also allowed moving applications from development to quality assurance testing and ultimately production quickly and simply. Built-in version control, access control, and application monitoring are real plusses. It was not only easy for our development team to learn and use but also flexible enough to integrate with our existing systems and applications.
