Could have a cleaner dashboard and more intuitive search features (priority is given to its own catalog of courses over the internal ones that the company wants employees to view). It does have a great catalog of courses, including trainings that help our company be compliant with the law, such as workplace harassment courses.

The system has many challenges for those who are not technically advanced. For example, if a course is in a learning path it will not populate as a to do item and many team members cannot complete compliance training. To administer the system, the admin must often manually change reports to visuals and most work has to be done by the admin since the system is so hard to use for most of the HR/training teams.

I think there could be an easier way to see what is assigned to the employees by HR or their manager, vs what courses they have explored and just "assigned" themselves by clicking on it.

The custom coding options make Litmos a highly desirable LMS for anyone who knows or is willing to learn CSS/JS. Combined with the standard features, you can create a compelling learning experience. Litmos content improves our agility to move with the fast-paced economy/workplace. Staying up to date on compliance and offering more education around ED&I has fast-tracked what we can offer the business, enabling our in-house design to focus on the truly unique to us content.

I gave Litmos an 8 because most of the foundation is solid, but there are features that are still lacking (Content Author is incomplete, Video Assessments reveal the rubric and that's like giving Learners a cheat sheet, some features simply don't work, like the Internal/External Profiles in Learner Profiles). A major feature that's missing is custom roles, which was previously announced as an upcoming feature release, but was subsequently canceled indefinitely. Also, reporting gets tricky between "Manager" reporting and the full (custom) Reporting Engine--it's too inconsistent.

It's overall pretty straightforward to use — both for admins/creators and learners.
  • Teams really give a great ability to decentralize management.
  • Great content creation tools
  • Integrated live sessions
A few wonky workflows persist, though:
  • Reporting has some limitations (e.g., 30 day limit, ugh)
  • Search is rough and we get reports that content can be difficult to find
  • More granular admin/editing permissions would help

Litmos has been quite direct, easy to use, simple to interact, has offered a ton of courses and has implemented video/web conferencing features that have been vital in our organization. Team creation and gamification has birthed positive competion that was much needed. Course creation has also been made easy for our instructors.

I think the usability of Litmos is high and I have had a great experience using it, with a few minor issues such as lack of helpful customer support. Overall the platform is perfect for assessments as part of employment, allowing the staff to gain knowledge and a sense of accomplishment.
