We ended up choosing Scale Computing Platform 4 years ago because that had better pricing than the other players and would offer everything we elected as pre-requisite for our system to work. Today, after several years using their system with no major issues, we can say it was a good decision.

Under 10 nodes and less than 2 sites, I would rather sell and support Scale. It's just as fast as any other HCI and more stable then VXRail. It's easier to setup and deploy, and get VM's running, and replicating between CLUSTERS. The only reason I would not consider Scale is the encryption or KMS requirements.

Scale Computing Platform provided all the functionalities we needed for our daily operations, with features that align with our processes. It has the advantage of a unified software package, without add-ons, which proved to be a financial advantage during the acquisition. It ensured that we would always have all the future features without the need to financially plan for license upgrades. It has lower overhead, allowing us to invest less in hardware

I have chosen Scale Computing Platform over the Nutanix for this reasons, #1 is the price difference between Scale Computing Platform and Nutanix. #2 is the complexity and ease of use of both solutions. In my opinion, Scale Computing Platform is way above nutanix as to the specifications is concern and also the performance of it. Scale Computing Platform recognized here in the Philippines as major player in Hyperconverged Infrastructure.

Price was outstanding, and competitive equipment wasn't an issue due to them using various brands and models. Sales reps were responsive, professional, and jumped through time hurdles with ease. Partnership with Acronis is a huge benefit, and the Carbonite license to move VMS is a huge plus.

At the end of the day, and in the environment we are in, Scale just fits the bill, both price-wise and functionality-wise. Upgrading our VM environment was always a week-long process, now, it is a twenty-minute process, implementing, converting VMs, and rolling everything over to Scale was completed in less than a week's time, and that included training.

To be honest hyper-converged infrastructure products dramatically show improvement from start up. Providing a single pane of glass management is important in any of these HCI products. I like any/all of the HCI products I've worked with thus far.

Scale replaced a VMWare solution. We compared Scale against a new VMWare solution as well as against a Nutanix hyper-converged solution. After looking at the costs, features, support, and hardware, Scale was the easy choice for our business. It fit every need we had and after 6 months of having it in place, I have no regrets with our decision.

I looked at Nutanix as a comparable solution but they are only software provider while Scale provides and supports the hardware too. Honestly from what I have experienced there isn't a company offering exactly what Scale Computing offers so there isn't anyone else really competing with it. Some are close but not yet.

Nutanix could not compete on price. Not even close. It is a much more complex environment to configure and manage. While this probably means it has a few additional features, we did not encounter any that were relevant to us. It's lone advantage was onsite hardware support. Starwind turned out to be the most expensive solution we considered. It relies heavily on underlying Microsoft technologies (such as clustering) which we saw as a potential point of failure that Starwind did not control.

We had looked at hyperconverged systems from Nutanix, HPE (Simplivity) and NetApp - all wanted a very high premium on top of which there were still additional licenses.

Their individual high costs meant they were never viable despite some attractive feature sets.

When it was time to refresh our old previous virtual environment, we looked at traditional server/storage, server/san, as well as other HCI competitors. We evaluated many solutions, but decided on Scale Computing for its simplicity to manage, use and setup, cost, but most of all it's functionality, like its ability to recover data in the event of a disaster. We hope to be using this solution for years to come!

We picked Scale because their product had the price to performance ratio on the features that we needed. The demo of the product showed us the thought and effort they had put in to a great UI married with hardware that performed well.

I researched several HCI solutions from the big players like Dell, Nutanix, VMware, Cisco, and HP. Scale Computing HC3 has the same or better capabilities as their competitors at a fraction of the price, and you won't feel like a number when you call. You'll get the impression that your business is important to them, and that they value you as a customer.

We purchased about 3 years ago. At the time the pricing of these other options was massively higher than Scale HC3. Most of the other options have steep learning curves. Nutanix like HC3 runs on a KVM architecture making it similar but other than a few bells and whistles I don't think it adds that much.

Scale Computing HC3 was not only cheaper than every solution that we looked at. It also had the easiest interface to learn and the least amount of hardware. We eliminated any and all setup/implementation costs as we were able to set up the cluster ourselves. All of the other services made me feel like I needed a master's degree to rack the units and set it up.

Scale offered an all in one solution, with its own hypervisor. Having a single pain of glass for storage and computing makes it way easier to support. As a one man IT dept I was looking for as simple, yet robust as possible option. Scale fit that need, as well as came in under budget.

I evaluated Nutanix, Pivot3, and Simplivity before choosing Scale.
Nutanix failed in the areas of support, cost, and if we were to choose their solution within our budget the scalability was lost.
Pivot3 and Simplivity both failed our requirements because they require VMWare which was an expense we wanted to avoid. And even for companies that have already made that investment stop and give thought to what you’re saving the business with consideration to eliminating that piece.

There are several feasible products in the hyper-converged marketplace (aside from Scale HC3) that review well, and are capable, effective products. However, upon analyzing you will find that just about all of these products/solutions are catering primarily to large organizations with enterprise pricing. Additionally, many of these products come with a significant amount of complexity in regards to use, management, components, and in some cases, licensing models. Scale computing HC3 provides a great product, at a great price, with great customer support, single point of contact, and ease of use. It checked so many of our boxes that it was almost impossible to look away. Scale HC3 was not our initial choice, but it was ultimately our unanimous choice.

  • HYCU Backup & Recovery for Nutanix
We found the pricing and response better in our evaluation. I would not exclude looking at Nutanix at renewal as the person in charge of working with us was the main reason we went in another direction. The person did not get back to us, but in fairness had one foot out the door and did leave them. However, I can say that the learning curve is much quicker with Scale. Nutanix has more options though.
