The support staff and sales men are great to work with. It is great to have a personal touch when purchasing a product. One of the biggest pros was how many staff members they had on the calls leading up to the purchase to help answer any questions.

In our situation, Scale Computing has been an excellent fit for our network. Being a medium-sized company with a small IT department, we have been able to leverage the ease of use to greatly speed up our ability to react to new ideas, and knowing that our virtual machines are running on a solid platform makes everyone feel better about our hardware on the backend. We are much less concerned with single points of failure in the server room.

HC3 provides disaster recovery and business continuity through efficient data replication to a remote Scale node or Scale partner. Scale should also be considered when evaluating replacement of end of life server/storage. Scale is often less expensive then competing hyperconverged options and less costly then other virtualization solutions. Scale also offers edge computing solutions which work really well in branch offices.

Scale Computing HC3 is a perfect solution for a smaller enterprise organization. The flexibility matches well with a moderate growth organization moving up from stand alone servers. The cost makes still having your data in your own care and control more feasible vs the unknown costs of moving to the cloud, or the high costs of getting data back out of the cloud. Larger organizations which have strong technical skillsets and the need for greater flexibility might be better off to choose more powerful, vendor-integrated solutions, or potentially looking at cloud-based options.

Migrating from our old system was easy, not very time consuming. Technical assistance was available to answer any questions, help with issues. This might not be something for a small location with just a few employees. They would be better off going with what would work best for their business needs. This fit a need we had and at a cost savings. Very happy we switched to Scale.

I think Scale is best suited for a smaller company like mine, where great support is needed along with no-nonsense purchase options. Also the simplified interface makes administration easier for a mid level server admin like myself.

It is great in a case where you have limited IT staff. The system once up and running does not need to be micro managed. It scales up well and has a great DR system that is easy to use. I think it really would work well with any company size.

In organizations that are forward thinking and innovative Scale is a great fit to simplify an otherwise overly complex infrastructure. Any corporation looking at a small or large scale server refresh Scale is the best fit across all organizations. In the past I would have stated companies requiring repositories of media files and things such as security footage wouldn’t be a good fit, however, true to form Scale has solved these issues and offer solutions perfect for this. Their Edge solutions are perfect for companies with multiple sites, buildings, remote data collection needs. In this day and age I am confident that there is no industry that wouldn’t benefit from the Scale HC3 or other Scale Computing offerings.

For us, Scale has been a great boon. It has allowed us much easier access to our servers (10 at the moment). As a one-man show with some out of department support it has allowed me the flexibility to solve problems in whatever building I'm in much faster. I can strongly recommend it for small or medium sized organizations. I have not seen in a large scale environment but I presume by applying multiple clusters it could be just as easily functional.

Scale HC3 is priced especially competitively for the SMB space. For the cost of a high-end alternative you can price-out an extremely robust Scale Cluster. Managing the system does not require extensive staff, nor specialized training, so this is an attractive consideration for smaller organizations, or organizations with relatively smaller tech teams.

Scale is a great solution for budget-minded institutions that also have a smaller than average I.T. staff. It has been reliable for us.

For those business that need more reporting, this is not the solution for you.

Scale Computing HC3 is very well suited for small-medium sized businesses looking for a redundancy solution that is simply "easy to use" without getting bogged down in licensing costs. The speed of starting up a new machine, whether for testing purposes or for production, is so quick, that I can take a request and provide a new machine within minutes. Allowing IT to not be a stepping stone to get a project up and running, but a gas pedal that drives the business forward.

Small to medium sized organizations where the functionality of Scale meets the business requirements.
TOC - as Scale was a more cost effective solution then the other bigger players.
No hypervisor licensing costs.
Lower technical level staff.

I would not go with Scale:
If a mission critical 24/7 hot DR requirement. Your IOPS requirements is greater then 10,000.

Scale Computing HC3 is excellent for every scenario when fast fail-over is a must! For the Oil and Gas industry or Marine applications, it is excellent because everything is redundant. This feature allows for equipment to be repaired or just maintained. In my opinion, I would implement some features for Fiber channel support for disk array expansion.

If you have extra staff and want to assign someone to manage your scale infrastructure full-time, then Scale Computing is probably not the right solution for you. They will be bored as they learn that there is very little to manage, everything is automated and it "just works". This is perfect for our small IT shop where we all wear various hats and don't have time to babysit an expensive appliance.

I think in a smaller environment, Scale provides a great way to get into a virtualized environment. The setup is very simple and it doesn't require significant knowledge of IT infrastructure in order to get up and running. Scale doesn't offer the advanced insight into storage and application resource groups as their competitors do, however it is not designed for advanced users. It is more of a closed box and support handles most requests or issues quickly, but there is not a way for administrators to easily see advanced details of the cluster.

It's well suited for big video/security installations that need redundancy and any kind of redundant situation. If IT resources are scarce or lacking (like can't afford a VMware Jockey) buy Scale instead. If you need less storage and smaller edge redundancy, Scale is not there yet but they are within this year of having it happen.

Scale is the best solution for small to medium size businesses that want to protect their data and increase their uptime. The only real flaw I see is with the limitation to only have a VM backup to one remote location. With larger businesses, it would be critical to have more than one location to protect your data. Even in our situation, our two locations a fairly close to each other so a natural disaster could possibly take out both locations.

As a small organization, Scale has been a no brainer. Easy to install and maintain. Easy to add servers and move servers. I can't imagine its scalability wouldn't fit in any organization. If you are in a single server environment and aren't looking to break out functionality into multiple servers or need redundancy and disaster recovery options than this may not be for you.

Just like any HCI application, if your storage, compute, and memory needs can be quantified and accurately forecasted, comparing HCI to a traditional infrastructure stack is simple and generally easy to architect. In our case, the HCI solution cost even less than a comparable multi-vendor infrastructure solution, but with added benefits: Single vendor/tested solution, no additional software or management tools needed, and it's the easiest to manage/maintain/secure.

I believe Scale is a solution for small to mid organizations who need VM solutions above the free realm but not the large scale solutions that are not feasible nor utilized to their full potential. Scale is perfect specifically for education as it addresses all of our needs in tools, disaster recovery, reliability, and cost.
